Love this suit I just tried it out for the first time on a 35-40 degree day it was comfortable with the liner In I got the XL it fits nice I'm 5'9" and 200+ lbs. It protected me from the cold I had a layer of heat gear from UA under it that's it. I did however cut a hole in the front pocket so the next cold day so I can use my heated gear under the suit I love it. December 18, 2012
Lot of suit for the money Was looking for a full featured suit to commute in year round. Read all I could from the internet forums and reviews, and decided to try the olympia phantom. I am very pleased with my purchase. Suit is warm, comfortable, and very water resistant. I would suggest that you order one size bigger than usual if you plan on using the insulated liner. Great riding suit I ride year round, so I was looking for a weatherproof, four season suit that would be good in all riding conditions. This suit has met my needs for cold weather riding to say the least. I am 220 lbs., with a 46 in. chest, 36 in. waist, and 32 in. inseam. Per the Revzilla staff, I chose the large size. The fit is snug with the liner in, while wearing polypropylene underwear, and the length is good with riding boots. I have put about 1000 mi.s on since it's purchase and ride 200-300 mi.s a week to work. While not riding in a downpour, I have ridden in some rain and have stayed dry. I have also ridden down to 17 degrees Fahrenheit and stayed comfortable. I feel confident I could ride in colder temperatures. Keep in mind that I like cold weather and cold tolerances are individual. The suit is well constructed, with many pockets to store items, and durable zippers and Velcro-style fastners. Protective pads stay put and cover appropriately their respective areas. I chose the high-viz yellow, which gets attention. Therefore, be prepared for comments. The only short fall of the suit would be holes to run wires for heated garments. I use heated gloves and had to compensate by mounting my system onto the bike. Certainly a small inconvenience for a great product. I will have to wait for warm weather to see how well the ventilation system works. I purchased the suit, while on sale, and had 25 zilla cash. Great banana suit for the buck!! Very pleased. December 3, 2012
Excellent Commuter Suit I have been wearing this suit for my 20m commute on the Houston freeways over the winter, which some would say hardly qualifies, but the mornings have been down to the mid 30s F with mist for the last week or so. Although not known as a fashion icon, my wife says it looks like I mean business. The suit is heavy duty and stiff, which is good as it keeps it from flapping, with a good insulating air gap at high speeds. It needs a two-helmet box to hold it, but on a BMW RT it's not a real problem. I am a slim 155lbs and 5' 11" and I have the Large, which fits over my work clothes fine although a bit snug with the liner, but that's OK for the number of times I use it. Getting in and out without the liner is easy, although I suggest its quicker to take off boots or shoes rather than mess with the leg zips all the way. The quality seems excellent with plenty of stowage, and armour seems well placed. The neck strap is a bit claustrophobic, but I guess that's just the way I'm built, so I wear a scarf or tube when it's cold. Personnaly, I wouldn't go anywhere in the winter without this suit... Nothing is cool enough in the summer... so that's not an issue. Get one! November 29, 2012
Great value at the price I bought this suit thinking it would make gearing up faster for the commute to work, and accomodate dress other than jeans. I found out that it really doesn't save me any time, and if you aren't careful, you'll be sweating before you get on the bike. The suit is very warm when riding, and with a sweatshirt or some other layer, I'm good down to 35 or so. If I use my heated jacket liner, I should be good for any foreseeable southern weather. The fit is spot-on, the pockets are placed well, and my only concern is about the hand pockets' weather-proofness, as I'm not sure they will keep out the water in the event of rain. Rain is the thing I haven't yet had to contend with since buying this suit, but I'm pretty sure an outer waterproof shell will be better than wearing my other gear with waterproof liners. I'm just counting on the Olympia reputation here, though. I bought the gray version, but my wife thiks I should have gone day-glo green. I just don't like the grimy look of the hi-viz jackets I own, after weeks of riding. November 24, 2012
For price....9.5 out of 10! Have had the suit for a month now and wear it everyday on the 20 mile commute to work. Temps in the am are down to 15F and up to 55F on some afternoons. With the liner I've stayed toasty the whole way. Without the liner wind protection is great but insulation is minimal...pretty sure it will be solid come summer. Fabric is tough stuff....very stiff to put on but seems to be loosening up a bit. I tape out at 72", 165lbs, long legs, skinny dude....bought a large. Two minor fit complaints: with the liner installed it's a bit tight in the crotchital region sitting on the bike and it gets a bit tight around the waist even with velcro straps loosened...not a deal breaker at all. Looks outstanding, got the yellow and stands out like a small nuke blast. One last grip...liner is a bit awkward. Doesn't attach to shell all that well so you basically end up putting on two suits. All that said it's a great suit and you'd be a fool to buy anything else on the market for this price! If in doubt on sizing...go one bigger. November 23, 2012
Good commuter I have been wearing the phantom suit for about 2 weeks now. I am 5'7" 170 lbs. The large fits me correctly as the size chart said it would. The easy hem legs... well I might call them the "moderately difficult hem". I was able to hem them myself with a heavy duty needle, home sewing machine and iron. It took about 4 hours to hem both the suit and liner. I could do it in about half that time now that I have done one. The suit wears well, pads are in the correct place, all adjustments are good. I can step in just fine with boots on and it takes about 60 seconds to get the whole suit on and buttoned up. The Velcro is tenacious, but should break in with wear. Thigh pockets are in the right spot and carry my phone and wallet comfortably. The leg zippers only unzip from the bottom so you cannot access your street pant pockets. You can unzip the main zipper from the bottom if you need to relieve your self. For my taste there are a lot more pockets than I need. Nice detail work on the collar, seals well, stays open well. I have been riding comfortably at 35-45 degrees for 25 miles with the suit and a fleece jacket, no liner. I think below 32 degrees I will add the liner. I have not found a good way to route my electric vest cord out of the suit yet. I rode 20 miles in a light rain and had leaks near the upper arm and elbow of both arms near the vent zips. No other leaks, crotch dry. Called Olympia and they recommended treating the stitches/ zip covers with an aftermarket water proofing spray. I think this is a good piece of gear, though I will keep my rain jacket in my tank bag. November 22, 2012
Great product! I'm 6'3 200lbs and the 2xl fit snug (not uncomfortable) with the liner in and perfect with it out. It was a great deal at $300. I would say it's too warm for TN 6 months out of the year if your bike has a fairing. Probably could use 8 months on a naked bike. I bought it for the other 6 months. I now ride a BMW K1200s.
