Nolan N-Com Basic Kit 2

For basic N-COM communication and audio, each helmet must be equipped with a Basic Kit.

It includes earphones, a microphone, and two short wires (that hang from the underside of the helmet, and allow you to plug in various devices).

The Basic Kit will permit you to listen to your music player, radar detector, GPS unit, etc., and talk on your cell phone, but you must control volume on the source device and answer the phone by pressing the controls on the phone.

For connecting to external audio and communications devices, a Multimedia Wire and/or Cell Phone Wire is needed.

Installs in minutes without any tools or modifications. For on-helmet volume adjustment and phone answering, E-Box Control and Pillion Communication Kits are available as well

The Basic Kit 2 is compatible with the N103/N91/N90/N86/N85 and N43E Nolan N-Com helmets.

Note: N103/N43 Gold Wing Kit includes lower cord for use with the audio system of a Honda GL1800.

Very easy for me to install. Works great They have great product that you can find. Easy to install and prices are reasonable November 24, 2014
good talking with your passenger makes the ride much more pleasant, have N43 and the kit was very easy to install, sound is very clear October 6, 2014
Nice Should fine this sooner ... The only way to travel. July 21, 2014
Once Again Connected!! I made the mistake of ordering the Basic 2 from a different site... Again, it was a mistake. 4 days after ordering they still had not shipped it. I promptly canceled the order and bought it at Revzilla. It was delivered before the original expected delivery date from the other site!!! When I received it, I called Revzilla to insure that it would fit my N91 because that model was not listed on the box. The CSR assured me it would fit and even left a note in my order just in case!! GREAT customer service!!! I struggled with the install at first but only due to my less than nimble hands getting in the way. The fit for the N91 was much better than my N102 and the sound quality has greatly improved over the years. I am, once again, happily straighten corners without the worry of missing any calls from sons!!! BMW K1200GT April 21, 2014
Thing Blows. Get a ScalaRider G9 Sound too low. Have to use a cord to listen to music, use phone, or whatever. It's fairly easy to install, but the quality is not good. Think of a cheap Chinese electronic that you have, and then you have a good idea of what this is. Pay the extra dough, and get the ScalaRider G9 instead. March 8, 2014
So-So Firstly the service Revzilla offers is excellent. As for the N-Com, Instructions almost useless and for anything above 60 km/hour or 36 mph is useless if you want to communicate. Sound is good , better than nothing. After all this, I was slightly disappointed . June 24, 2013
Very good product, Very marginal instructions. Overall the product works well, however, you can't plug a phone and an audio device in at the same time. The photo of the item is also incorrect. However, the instructions and installation video were both awful. How much effort would it have been to spend an extra hour or two making a detailed video with close up shots. Again, the speakers are clear and the microphone works well even in the wind. Overall great product with installation instrucitons that leave a lot of questions. June 24, 2013
Not a complete system! Read the details page closely. This is really only one part of a system you need for wireless connetion to your phone or another rider. Details paragraph led me to believe I could connect my phone (iPhone). Nope. It will work as headphones but that is about it, (earbuds do the same thing) You'll need to spend another $230 for the n-com E-box to get any real use from this product. I also wanted rider to rider comm, but 2 complete systems would be around $650! I returned it for the SMH-10 (dual pack) which has all the features I really wanted in one complete system for only $285. Advertised range is much better on the SMH as well. June 22, 2013

A shopper asked: Does this kit fit the N86 model as well? I've tried looking at other sites for this kit specified for the N86, but most of the one's I've found also say are compatible with the N85/90/43/103 and I can't tell whether or not they are the same thing. I'm trying to give the N-COM kit(s) as a gift so I am not entirely familiar with the technicalities of these things. Is this particular kit an older version or am I just worrying unnecessarily? Lindsay H: Thank you everyone for your answers!!! Unfortunately, I bought the helmet as a Christmas present and planned on getting the N-Com system to go with it as a birthday present... so I think I have to go with the N-Com brand (maybe not?). I am planning on getting the Bluetooth 3+ kit as well.. I wasn't aware of how much $ it was going to cost to do all of this beforehand (he seriously better LOVE it haha)! I'm just not sure how to go along getting the basic stuff to do it because this kit doesn't specify being compatible with the N86. I think I'm just going to buy the kit I found that mentions the N86 for $20 extra. Either that or I will contact Revzilla... I really like this site and have had great experiences with it, hence the reason I would prefer to buy here instead! Thanks everyone!! Feb 2, 2014

Hugh V: As long as the 86 has the spot for the ear-phones that kit will work, the only thin is that you have to buy the kit, then by the blue tooth kit to go with it, it ends up costing about 300+ bucks, i think there is much better systems avialbile from revzilla, just check out there product review, hope this helps you. If i had to rate the nolan system, i would say its about a 5 out of 10.
Thanks Hugh Vick

George S: Honestly , excellent concept, but the product does not work more than 60 km/h or 36 miles an hour. Many here that there is a lot of vibration and sound.

In my opinion it is only good for listening to music music , if that.

Hope that helps

Jon B: I put these in my Helmet for about a week, you can not hear anything. So I took them out and threw them in the garbage, waste of money. Buy something else. I love my Nolan helmet but the N-Com doesn't work very well. Feb 1, 2014

Matthew D: I had to buy the cable that runs between the helmets seperate. FYI - I love the Nolan Helmet, The N-Com system was OK. Not sure if I would buy it again. The helmet for sure, the Com system I would be tempted to look around. The MIC boom after awhile got a cut in the rubber coating from being moved out of the way when putting the helmet on. Over time I am not sure how bad it would of got. The instructions are not that great. I resorted to youtube for most of the install -it was kind of a pain. I consider myself pretty handy and had the job done in about 40min. Like said the descriptions/instructions of everything are not the best. There are less expensive options out there that could work just as well if not better.

Richard M: No extra cables to connect to MP3 or what ever output device you are using. Only the wiring to install speakers and mic in you helmet. Go to http://www.n-com.it/ and select N-com for instruction and information on N-COM products. Feb 2, 2014

Julio V: Adam,

If you are referring to the cables for connecting to an audio source, those cables at not included. You will need to order them seperately.

A shopper asked: I'm considering a N104 and the B4 com system. MY wife has an HJC helmet. Can I buy this system for her helmet and will it be compatible with the B4 for rider/pillion communications? Sep 8, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Larry G: Not 100% certain but just reading the info below especially the last statement may mean that you need a B4 communicator to communicate with another B4. I would highly recommend talking with Revzilla prior to purchasing.

Nolan N104 and N-COM B4 Bluetooth Kit.

The most recent iteration of the N-COM system was produced specifically for the N104. If you have the N104, please disregard the information above as your helmet has a different solution. The N-COM B4 is an all-in-one bluetooth system that integrates into the N104 helmet. The N104 is pre-configured to accept this system and the B4 microphone, speakers and battery have specific cutouts already designated in the helmet. When purchasing a B4 system, no Basic Kit, or E-Box is needed, however, the B4 currently works ONLY with the Nolan N104 helmet. "Conversely, the N104 can ONLY accept the B4 as an N-COM bluetooth communicator"

Gregory M: Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the B4 modules -- I have only used the original Bluetooth modules -- But those modules work well with any bluetooth device I have paired them with. I do use the basic kit 2 with both of my bluetooth modules and I have them installed in Nolan Trilogy N-43 helmets.

I do like my current setup with the bluetooth helmets just fine -- no desire to change -- very satisfied with them.

Brad B: Sorry, I cannot directly help, as I ave an N103 with the N-Comm system. I was not able to sync it with my Cardo system that is in my wife's HJC helmet. The new B4 system reads like it has this capability, but I have no experience with it. Sep 18, 2013

Richard M: The B4 is made for the Nolan helmet only. It is not made for the HJC helmet. All B4's will communicate with each other. Sep 18, 2013

A shopper asked: I am aware I can use the N-Com system to connect to my iPhone using a standard media cable for audio. However, I haven't been able to figure out if there is some way to connect the built in microphone to my iPhone. I understand the Bluetooth box can handle this connection and its advantages, However, I would rather rely on a wired connection. Thanks for your help. Apr 12, 2011

Giorgio P: Hi there, I can tell you that I have this kit for my N103, but looking at the box it shows that it is compatible with the N91 helmet.
Compatibility label on the box says:
Basic Kit2 N103/91/90/86/85/71/43

Hope this helps.
