Nolan N-Com Basic Kit 2
For basic N-COM communication and audio, each helmet must be equipped with a Basic Kit.
It includes earphones, a microphone, and two short wires (that hang from the underside of the helmet, and allow you to plug in various devices).
The Basic Kit will permit you to listen to your music player, radar detector, GPS unit, etc., and talk on your cell phone, but you must control volume on the source device and answer the phone by pressing the controls on the phone.
For connecting to external audio and communications devices, a Multimedia Wire and/or Cell Phone Wire is needed.
Installs in minutes without any tools or modifications. For on-helmet volume adjustment and phone answering, E-Box Control and Pillion Communication Kits are available as well

The microphone should be improved
The interaction between the microphone and the helmet is uncomfortable.

Surprising Clarity
The product instructions could be better and a relevant N85 online installation video would be helpful.
The sound and microphone quality is excellent but utilization at anything over 60 KPH becomes moot due to wind noise.
Works great to make phone calls and listen to music at slow speeds.

Great product.
Install was easy, I follwed the online video from the Nolan web site. Sound clarity is very good.

Very nice to have options
I installed this N COM kit into my N90 helmet. It is nice to have everything formed into the helmet to insure and easy install. Sound quality is excellent for my needs. I like that nolan makes the system buildable to your needs. At this time I dont have the need to have intercom or phone hooked to the helmet I use it primarily for music . Revzilla was awesome to deal with. No regrets on my part

Fantastic, well worth the money.
Once the basic kit was installed, this unit was a snap. My wife and I both have the system and they bluetooth between the helmets as well to our own seperate phones. The communication is clear. MP3 players also are clear in stereo.

The basic kit 2 has improved wiring that offers stereo and "high fidelity" sound. Otherwise it functions and is laid out the same as the original basic kit.Age: 45-54

Using the N-Com basic Kit with an iPhone

I am aware I can use the N-Com system to connect to my iPhone using a standard media cable for audio. However, I haven't been able to figure out if there is some way to connect the built in microphone to my iPhone. I understand the Bluetooth box can handle this connection and its advantages, However, I would rather rely on a wired connection. Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, I believe that this unit has no ability to connect to your microphone via a wired connection. As you mentioned, the Bluetooth function is more than capable of handling that connection.Age: 25-34
