An ok tire, but a bit squirmy on the corners
I haven't ridden it enough to say much about tread life, but it seems like a pretty good tire in most ways. My one main complaint is the 2 rows of grooves on the sides. They should be staggered more. As it is, they line up pretty well so as you're rolling into a corner you have good grip until you hit the groove on each side. As soon as you hit that groove it feels squirmy until you lean it over further and go past the groove. It doesn't slip when you hit the groove, but it is an unsettling feeling. I will not get these again. I think I will try a Metzler Tourance or Continental Trail Attack instead.

Can Recommend Highly for On-Road Performance
There are a lot of unknowns out there! Your tires should NOT be in that category!! I think it's best to spend the bucks and get the best you can buy. You're life is depending on it. I did a ton of research before choosing this set over some of the other well known competitors. And I feel like I made the right choice. These tires are very good. The road grip, wet or dry is amazing. The wear seems to be very good so far. Not any flat spotting. I don't do gnarly off-road riding, so I cannot comment there.

Excellent 80/20 tire!
I put this tire on as replacement for the OEM(front) on my 2012 KLR. I've logged 11,100 miles on them and now there is a slight cupping problem although I could stretch another 200 if I needed to. I really liked this tire. It held up extremely well and stayed consistent and predictable in the rain. A bit wobbly in sand but you know that's going to be the case given the tread pattern. This tire's so good you'll forget it's there. I gave the "Good" rating for tread life since it's pretty common for front tires to surpass 10K miles.

R1200GS ADV / Anakee 2
This is an outstanding tire. Fronts are good for a minimum of 15,000 miles and rears would do 10,000 to 12,000 miles riding two up & fully loaded. I am not happy about this tire being discontinued.

Great Tire
These tires are a new welcome feel to my Tiger 800XC! the tires grip into the corners and feel great in the long runs! I have yet to experience any rain but with the wide grooves they should displace the water well. I'm hoping that the tread life will last as long as my Battlewings but time will only tell. I've only put around 1000 miles on so far but fingers are crossed. if your looking for a nice new rugged duel sport tires my bet is on this one!

con: only small complaint is that there does seem to be a little road noise from the tire but nothing that i would find too distracting or something that cant be tuned out!

The Michelin Anakee 2 Review
The Michelin Anakee 2 is a great tire IMHO. I feel that they perform in an excellent manner. It holds the road quite well, wet or dry. It has better feedback than other brands of this same style. It inspires confidence on the asphalt as well as on gravel & dirt roads. This is my third set I've purchased for my BMW R1150GS and I hope that Michelin will be introducing the same tire for the new water-cooled R1200GS that is coming out next March 2013.

Great Tire
I wanted to wait to review these tires until I had put some miles on them. With over 9000mi so far and they still have plenty of tread left. These are my first replacements on my 2011 KLR. The factory Dunlops only lasted a little over 3000mi.
Most of my riding is highway but still travel several miles of dirt and gravel twice a day. The tires handle the pavement great. No matter if its wet or dry.
In the gravel they are looser than the factory knobbies, but still feel stable. The one place these tires go nowhere is wet grass or mud.
Mounting them gave me a little trouble. After pinching 3 tubes on the front tire. I ended up taking it to a shop to have it mounted.
Overall I love them and will be buying another set once these finally wear out.

Great Dual Purpose Tire
The Michelin Anakee 2 does it all for the 80% road - 20% off road tire that it is. It sticks to the pavement extremely well in both dry and wet conditions. The front tire tracks very well and the wide foot print on the rear tire actually does very well off road. I'm getting about 6-7K miles on the rear and around 10K on the front. The only negative thing to say is .... the front tire starts to cup about the same time the rear tire runs out so I end up replacing both tires at the same time. I would recommend this tire for any dual purpose bike.

Highly recommended
You just can't beat these tires, not even with Theodore Roosevelt's big stick. The only complaint I've heard is one of longevity, likely due to the new compound providing better grip and traction. However, this new front Anakee II replaces the same tire, installed 9000 miles ago. It could've seen 10,000, and actually passed inspection. But Louise was off the road, so I had the work done while she rested. Louise is a 2005 Suzuki Dr 650 SE that I ride year round; heat, rain, snow, she's in it. I am not a knee skinner. She takes me to work daily, the grocery store, and trips as long as Malibu to NYC. A new set of these rubbers and she whispers sweet nothings while eagerly reaching for that next mile of adventure. Heed the tire pressure advice from the Revzilla folks. It rings loudly true. As you know, these bikes can go on and off road, but they don't excel at either. These tires help them achieve their own greatness in either venue.

For the BMW F650GS fellow riders have said for our riding style would get better performance out the brand over the Metzler. Also a quieter ride overall.

I have used Anakee 2 tires on my BMW R1150GS for years now. I got a set of Anakee 3's last year, but they are loud, and I don't think they grip as well. Plus the clearance price on this tire is nice.
