Metzeler Tourance Front Tire
Hard to beat for larger dual sport bikes
I have lost count of how many Tourance's I have gone through. For a general purpose touring tire for my R1200GSA I just haven't found anything else that works as well for me.
I typically get about 10k miles out of a rear, and some times more out of a front, but I typically replace them in pairs. Right after receiving this tire from Revzilla I mounted it and took off on a 6,500 mile trip. Never any quality or other concerns with Metezler tires.
The Tourance isn't a great tire for making good time through sand or deeper gravel, but at the right speed those conditions can be navigated safely with these tires. On the tarmac, wet or dry they offer plenty of grip and are confidence inspiring. Unlike tires with more aggressive block patterns the Tourance rolls smoothly into and out of turns, even at pretty extreme lean angles.
Other than putting TKC's on for specific trips and conditions, these tires will remain my go to tire for the big GS. I have also run them on a 650 Dakar and was very happy with them on that as well.

50k miles and always used Tourance
To be fair, I haven't used any other tire so maybe rating this tire all 5's is too much since I have no point of reference.
I don't race or do any serious trail riding either so can't comment in those areas. Mostly mix of country roads/super slab.
The Tourance seems to be a nice balance between grip and durability.

Year Round Rider. Wouldn't Leave Home Without Them!
I am a year round rider in New England. I have several motorcycles but during the winter months and during rain showers I ride my Kawasaki KLR650. When my stock treads needed to be replaced, I went with the Metzeler Tourance tires. These things are GREAT. I have been in the snow, rain, sub-zero cold and they hold up in any condition. I highly recommend these tires.

Great for my purposes
Beginning with the "4" rating for tread life... That grade comes more from knowing other people's experience with the tire. Haven't had mine long enough to offer an informed response.
What I can say about the tire is that it's impressing me in comparison to the Bridgestone Battlewings that I've been used to. The Battlewings came on a new yamaha super tenere and were the only OEM tires in my 40+ years of riding that weren't quickly replaced with another model. I went with the Tourance's as a change of pace while wanting a bit more offroad traction without going to a semi-knob.
The tire hasn't disappointed in any of the areas that I've used it. Wet, dry, packed dirt, gravel and forrest roads find it well behaved and predictable. Coming from a dirt background it's difficult for me to adjust to road biased tires if only for their appearance. In fact, visually the relatively smooth design hadn't inspired my confidence. But after a few thousand riotous miles the Tourance and I have become buddies. Married with traction control they're outstanding in my opinion. They'll now be my go-to tire.

I just completed a 3300 mile trip. The tires performed flawlessly. I don't know about tread life yet.

Still the best
There are a number of good tires available for big "dual sport" bikes like my R1150GS but for the vast majority of us, these bikes are used primarily onroad. For mostly road use with the occasional gravel or hard packed dirt road, I think this tire is still the best option. Great road manners, grip in the wet and long life are the reason I continue to use this tire.

Luv the Metz Tourance
I've been running the Metzeler Tourance tires on my 1150GS for years. I get more mileage out of them than I did with the Mich Anakees. I love the Metzelers. And, RevZilla always has the best price or certainly comprable to others. I choose RevZilla!
