great on tarmac
After numerous choices I fitted a set of these tyres on my Yamaha XT660R, dont think you guys get these over there but its just a lighter version of the 660 Tenere.
These are just as good on the black top as the original tyres, I can still get my pegs down with ease and it feels planted.
Offroad is a huge improvement over the originals and more confidence inspiring,
I got just under 5000klm on the originals but do not think I will get the same from these, hoping for 3500-4000 klm
All in all a great tyre and much better offroad with no obvious difference onroad with the exception of wear.
I do not ride the super tenere anymore and this review is not for the bike shown.

Great street tire suitable for light off road
I have used these tires for years on a BMW R100GS. On the road they are excellent and grip like a street tire. They are very good in the rain.
They are decent in gravel and on dirt paths. They are not a mud or sand tire.
They wear quickly (8000 miles front, 4000 miles rear) but not as quickly as a TKC 80 (6000/3000).
These tires give up a good measure of off-road performance to the TKC 80 in exchange for a small, but noticeable, improvement on-road and significantly more tread life.
I recommend this tire for 600 to 1000 cc dual sports that see some off-road but lots of road miles. If you are doing more off-road but still want a tire good for the road, go the TKC 80 route.

Not a good offroad tire Tire!!
I got these tires new with my GS650 Dakar and after reading reviews thought they would be perfect for my CO BDR trip. The friends I rode with all had knobby or big block tires and did much better than me for traction. They are horrible in any kind of mud and wash out almost instantly the moment you hit mud. I had 3 times the bike dumped just due to hitting mud holes straight on. The next very poor performance is in the medium size round gravel on dirt roads. The bike would instantly start to wander back and forth under the bike going straight down the dirt road (very unnerving feeling). The tires do not seem to want to cut down through surface debris and tend to ride up and cause the bike to feel unsteady. They did feel good on the road and handled well on the small light gravel dirt roads. I have been riding dirt bikes since I was a kid and felt very unsure on these tires. Stay with a knobby tire unless you plan on just riding a very tame trail with NO mud. Sorry Metzler, try again.
