Firstgear TPG Women's Escape Pants 2008 (Size W16)
Good winter pants
This is an abbreviated review, because my wife has not worn the pants much, but so far they appear to be good quality. She did take out the hip pads as they were pretty bulky. These do seam to fit slightly large, or true to size as an overpant. They fit well and look good with her Firstgear jacket. Will provide a more in-depth review after we return from our Scotland trip...

2008 WOMEN'S First Gear TPG Escape Pants
THIS PICTURE is NOT the 2008 Womens TPG Escape Pants!! it is a picture of the 2008 MENS TPG Escape Pants! The Womens pants DO NOT have a front, waterproof pocket or the bottom (ankle) velcro cinch straps to tighten around your ankle when rain or cold come. THAT VELCRO ANKLE CINCH STRAP KEEPS THE RAIN AND WIND FROM BLOWING UP YOUR LEGS AND SOAKING YOUR FEET!!!
I will have to find a seamstress to make and attach the velcro tabs as they are HUGE to have in foul weather. I called and asked First Gear if these 2008 Women's TPG Escape Pants could have a front pocket and the ankle velcro cinch straps sewn on if I paid sewing costs and the shipping cost both ways. I was told by First Gear that they would not as it was not cost effective to do so. :(
As far as the total design of the 2008 Women's TPG Escape Pants, it is not as full featured as the Mens. I am not hurting for money and will pay anything for the right fit and features. I own a pair of 2008 Mens TPG Escape Pants / Size 32-34, and when I went to replace them was shown this picture of the 2008 Mens TPG Escape Pants but received the Women's pants without the snug tabs and pocket. I LOVE these pants and even passed up customized Aerostitch pants because the 2008 MENS TPG ESCAPE PANTS are wonderfully quilted and truly are the ONLY waterproof pant I have ever found. First Gear changed the styling completely! Their 2012 Escape pants have a bell-bottom leg! It balloons in the wind! Whom ever designed them must not be a rider as they went for a stand alone liner pant in a bell bottom! Sad that they took the best designed pant ever made and never thought it through for rain coming up off the front tire that goes up your leg requiring the velcro cinch strap and snug fit !! The 2008 Men's styling was the BEST ever.... and if they would have put on the pocket and snug straps on the 2008 Women's TPG Escape Pants, they would have gotten 10-Stars on a 5- Star rating! The under-armor, vent zips, waist adjusters, strength in fabric are OUTSTANDING! The design is missing very key features! :(
Thanks Revzilla for outstanding service and price!

08 TPG ESCAPE PANTS
Bought these pants in June of 2010, fit great, look great. Have worn them down to about 40 degrees without liner. I live in the pacific northwest and well we get quite a bit of rain and I ride daily, on reason for buying these pants was because they did not require an additional liner to be waterproof, well unfortunately in moderate rain even just riding in the city my knees would be soaked after about 15-20 minutes at first i thought maybe the zippers (two way on the legs) weren't all they way up but they were. I sent the pants back to firstgear last week and they are warrantying them and sending me the 2011 version. I will post a review in a few weeks of the new version. Other than the water leaking I would definitely recommend these pants (haven't heard of any other leakers maybe it was just my pair).

Firstgear TPG Escape Pants
My wife and I both wear these Firstgear TPG Escape pants for long distance touring. We ride from 250 to 500 miles a day and these are the most comfortable pants that we have ever worn. The quality is the finest made. They have the protective body armour inserted in all the right places and you do not feel that it weighs you down. We have tried every name brand on the market and we are now staying with Firstgear only. We are not going to waste our money on the other name brands anymore. This is the finest touring pant on the market. We do product testing every weekend 10 months out of the year. You can not go wrong by investing in this pair of touring pants.

Contrary to the Teton jacket that has some serious issues, these pants are near perfect: comfortable, water proof and adaptable to different climates.
I would like larger pockets and another one on the other leg.

Crash Protection Policy!!
FirstGear has a GREAT policy on these TPG pants that I wasn't aware of when I bought them. They have a 2 year "Crash Protection Policy" where if you damage them in a crash, you can send them back along with a police report and a testimonial and they will replace them free of charge.
I wore a hole through the seat of these pants when I slid 50 feet down a country road. Other than that I didn't get a scratch. The armor worked as advertised.

I found these to be very warm with the liner in. went for a 100km ride at 5C with only my undies on underneath and was very comfortable.
