STEVEN B: I've got nearly 13,000 miles on the current set and it's a great tire, rain or shine or whatever else Michigan throws at 'em! I could probably get to 14k before I get to the wear indicators, but I ride every day no matter the weather and would rather not take the risk.Mar 25, 2015

Moira S: The video highly recommended it because it was specially spec'd out for Harley.Dec 8, 2013

A shopper asked:What is the factory recommended replacement Dunlop front tire for my 79 FXS-80 Low Rider? I am currently using the Dunlop K181 MJ/90-19 series for the front and K181 MT90-16 for the rear and not sure if the D401 90/90-19 will give me the handling I want and need.Aug 12, 2013
Harry S:D401 is recommended by both HD and Dunlop. Put this tire on the front of an 07 dyna street bob. Handling and ride much improved over original tire. Bike had 8500 miles on the original tire. Sidewall on the 401 is more compliant and tread does well dry or wet. You probably know that these are stiff tires. I know several who are running Metzlers or the new Shinko tires with very good results also. Shinko has a much softer sidewall, but at the correct pressure, these seem to ride really nice and are rated for the HD weight.Aug 14, 2013
John G:I hope this helps. I have a 2006 Sportster and use a Dunlop Harley-Davidson D401 tire on the rear. My front wheel uses a Dunlop Dunlop Harley-Davidson D402 (21 inch) tire. I think that it handles beautifully but I am not sure how much this will help you answer your question. Good luck and stay safe.Aug 12, 2013
jeff m:I just rode to Sturigs n. dacoda 2540 miles round trip and the tire handle great. As long as you have enough clearance for one size bigger tire it shouldn't be a problem. I all ways prefer one size larger tire on the rear. It makes it a little more beefy'erAug 12, 2013
Harry S:Yes, the D401 is available from Dunlop in a wide whitewall. This is a front tire. the D401 is specifically designed for Harley Davidson. It is also available for a rear application, whitewall - only in a 16" sizeMar 6, 2015
John G:The combination of tires that you mention is the exact combination that I use on my 2006 Sportster CL 883 Custom. This was what was installed on my bike as original equipment. I have put roughly 85,000 miles on the bike and have gotten between 15,000 and 20,000 miles on each set of tires. I may have been pushing the limits on tire wear when I replaced them but I am definitely satisfied with the performance and durability of this tire combination.Oct 2, 2013
Joel P:The Dunlop Harley-Davidson D402, Metzeler ME880 Marathon, and Dunlop Elite 3 Bias are available in MT90B16 size. Some online cross-references suggest that the MT90B16 can be replaced with a 130/90-16 but we recommend verifying that with your Harley dealer first.Jan 31, 2012
A shopper asked:I need to replace the front tire on my 2010 Softtail Custom. The tire size on it is MH90-21. It is a Dunlop tire D 407F. This is the original equipment on my bike. What Dunlop size will fit my bike?Jun 12, 2015
