Dowco Traveler Motorcycle Cover

You want to protect your bike while on the road, but you just don't have the room to take a full size cover with you. The lightweight Guardian Traveler cover protects the essential parts of the motorcycle and folds compactly for storage. Made of lightweight, but durable, urethane-coated polyester, the covers are water repellant and quick drying. These covers will enclose the fairings, seat and rear trunk. Includes a shock cord hem and foot peg straps.

Features:

  • Covers the top half of your bike
  • Tough, lightweight polyester fabric for strength and durability
  • Breathable and water repellent
  • Covers fairing, seat, and rear trunk
  • Elastic cord insures a snug fit
  • Compact design folds easily into tank bag or trunk

Note: Sizes listed in Size Chart are for stock motorcycles without additions such as panniers, windshields, high handlebars or sissy bars.  Addition of those options will typically require a jump of one to two sizes.

  • Sport Bike  - developed to fit sport-class bikes up to and including the Hayabusa.  Heat-resistant coverage comes higher on the bike
  • XL - developed to fit 1988 Goldwing, including later Aspencade models

Good dust cover
This is the 2nd cover I've tried. First one was a Nelson Rigg UV-2000 half cover. Lasted about a year then split down the seam. This one would be good for dust but not for outside use. At least in NC during the summer. No way it would protect in a rain storm, but it's not designed too. Guess when this one gives out I'll go back to the Nelson Rigg. Unless someone comes up with a new design.

Light Shower or Shade Cover
It's hard to estimate the quality and thickness of the material from the website image.
Having now received this cover my observation is, that it is a useful cover for daily use, quick and easy to use but expensive for what it is.
The material would need spraying with a third party waterproofing, in order to protect from anything other than a rain shower.
The material is thin and vulnerable.
The product is expensive, when you realise the cheap thin material used and then it's made it in China.
The image on the website is not accurate in colour, it's not green but light grey in colour.
It's a stretch of the imagination using the term "Guardian" in the description of this cover.

Light weight and compact
Very happy with the cover. Very compact and light weight. Used it on about a half dozen rides, performed well. Fabric is very thin so I'made not sure how much abuse it can take. I was careful to keep it away from my pipes. Great fit and appearance.

Hey it shrunk!
Love these covers. Bought one several years ago and use it primarly to keep the sun etc. off my bike during the day at work. Do use it for travel as it packs small. The old cover was the exact same thing in the same size. I have a K75S and the old was the SP size which fit nicely, so this time I ordered a SP size which is smaller. Still can get it to cover the top of the bike but it is very tight.

Overall Very Good
Bought this as an on the road type cover, must say it's exactly that. Covers the instrument area and the seat area....fast drying and stores in a small package.

Okay so far
Not too protective against water - even a dew-y morning caused it to soak through so I'm not too confident with any type of rain. Less water-resistant than the Nelson-Rigg half cover, but that one broke apart after a year of use, which is why I got this one. We will see how it holds up.

I commute and this packs up real small so does not take up much space in the bag but still provides basic protection from sun, condensation and light rain

The Dowco Traveler Motorcycle Cover appears to be a well made and easily stow-able cover. I will be leaving my Moto Guzzi EV 1100 at an airport parking garage. The garage is commercial, covered and provides security, still I want a cover that will discourage curious eyes and bodies from making themselves at home. The half cover is just one level of my overall security plan, but should do the job, and with a bit of care, will safely go on a still warm bike.

I have a '98 bmw k1200rs with windshield and a givi tour pack and hard stock saddle bags. What size would you recommend?.
A shopper on Sep 15, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The 2XL is designed for bike with windshields and hard luggage (side cases and top case) where as the Sport is tapered at the rear for for bikes that do not have any side cases or top case.
What is the size of the cover when packed?
A shopper on Jul 20, 2012
BEST ANSWER: We measured a Sport Size Dowco Traveler Motorcycle Cover as we did not have the larger one in stock at our Philadelphia location. The dimension will only be slightly bigger for that model.

When folded, the Cover is approximately 6" x 10.5" x 3". (However, it could be compressed to a somewhat smaller shape when squeezed.)
