Love this tire!!!
On a KLR650; the bike is better in the dirt than these tires but the tires are better on the street than the bike.
dry Asphalt: great
wet asphalt: untested
Dry dirt and gravel roads: good
After I realize the KLR was merely a trail bike and not an off-road bike I opted for more street oriented tire. These are an 80/20 tire.
I rode almost 2000 miles, Northern California to Death Valley, last week. At speeds 80+ they are smooth and quiet. On the twisties through HWY 178 they held beautifully. We ran into a 1.6 mile gravel road. With gravel up 2" deep I was able to go between 35 and 50 mph. Next time around I'll try the Mefos to try to get a tire closer matched to bikes capability but I have absolutely no regret purchasing these tire.

Conti Escape is a confidence inspiring tire.
My 2005 BMW F650GS was in need of a new rear tire, as the Metzler Tourance (which has been a solid tire) had squared off to the point that turn-ins were feeling a bit uncomfortable. In searching for tires, I could find relatively few reviews on the Conti Escape, although those that I found were nearly all positive. I liked the look of the tread pattern, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've put about 600 miles on the Conti Escape rear (running Anakee 2 up front), and I am really impressed with it. It is confidence inspiring on the road- it sticks well in turns, is smooth, and quiet- as good if not better than the Tourance in these respects. I've run it on dirt and gravel roads for maybe 30 miles, and it has bites really well. In wet, somewhat slick dirt (not quite mud) it was solid, whereas the Anakee 2 front was getting squirley. I can't speak to longevity (I don't expect it to last as long as the Tourance, but I'll be really happy if I can get 7-8K with it), but this tire is fantastic for mostly tarmac rides with some mix of dirt and gravel roads. I'm really surprised this tire hasn't received greater attention/reviews, as I find it quite good. Looking forward to trying the front as well.
