Great Tires For Touring
I'm on my 3rd set of Avon tires. I'd previously run them on my KLR 650 and could count on 13,000-14,000 miles on the rear. I just put these tires on my Yamaha WR250R. A motorbike I use mostly for backroads and gravel forest service type exploration. The first thing you notice is "no knobby vibrations", and they have an excellent grippy feel.

Didn't last very long
In a 3k trip, I've used up more than 1/2 the tire, somewhat disappointing on a light, modestly powered bike (DL650). To be fair, other tires don't seem to last as long, and I'm not sure how long these 90/10 tires are supposed to last. That said, the ride quality, grip, and general feel was fantastic, very happy with them. The matching front tire still looks almost new.

This is my second set of these tires and I LOVE them! I have them on my R80 GS and have ridden all kinds of roads- dirt , gravel, ruff and smooth, in wet and dry and they have performed well. I have had many miles of smiles on these rubbers and recommend them to anyone who rides street with ruff terrain detours. 5 stars!

I ride a 2012 R1200GSA and decided to give these tires a chance. I have Avon tires on all of my other bikes and love them. They take a bit longer to heat up unlike the EXP but once they are warmed up HANG ON. I have about 800 miles on them but if they last like my other Avons I should see about 7500 to 8000 miles out of them.

Marc C: "Great tires on most all roads, excellent track record and they look so sweet on my Bonneville! "Aug 11, 2015
Larry P: As I stated in my comments for the front tire, I'd read favorable reviews for them. Finding long wearing tires to use on a bike hauling a sidecar is pretty well impossible and these are no exception.Jun 26, 2015
George F: A good all around tire but marginal in the dirt.Apr 7, 2015
John D: Have used Avon tires in the past with good results.Apr 15, 2014
carlos o asked:can the 110/80 S 18 tire be used on the front?Aug 18, 2014
Martin G:I am not sure, but I believe tires are rim dependent, not front or rear dependent. That fact that it is not suitable for a front tire in 99% of applications would be a better telling sign. Writing to AVON would be my best suggestion.Aug 26, 2014
Hilary D:This is a correction to my previous answer. The front tire has a smaller tread patern then the rear. The front and rear tread patern is the same but the size of the tread is very different. I still would ask AvonAug 21, 2014
ADVJason:Your KTM 530 XCW comes standard with a 110/100-18 dirt specific tire. We cannot recommend a tire size that differs from manufacturers specifications. It may be necessary for you to change your rear rim to a 17" supermoto style to open up your tire selection. You could try surfing the forums and see what others have been able to accomplish.Nov 15, 2011
