Very disappointed. At highway speeds (60+) this helmet gives a constant vibration. It will burr your vision and gives me a headache after about an hour. I suspect the visor is at fault and will try riding without it. I find this purchase embarrassing after spending so much money.

Don't make my mistake !!

Also disappointed in buying a 'new' helmet and getting one manufactured in '08.

-Arai should sell the helmet with a least one other size of cheek pad, ships with 20mm and I could use 15mm. I wore an HJC prior to this one and it is just a little to snug in the jaw area, otherwise fits great.
-unable to purchase another set of cheek pads as everyone is out of stock, at 50 bucks a pop Arai is doing well not selling the helmet with 2 sets, hmmm, method in their madness?
-great service from Revzilla!! knowledgeable staff, shipped when they said it would. Will buy from them again for sure. thanks to Anthony and Patrick.

Not what I expected!

I have owned an Aria helmet in the past and currently ride with one. I purchased my first adventure bike last year and thought I would try out the new style helmet. The helmet looks great and fits great. However; I receive quite a bit of buffeting at higher speeds, say 55 and up. The noise level is higher than I expected as well. Its not that its loud, rather it seems to produce a low vibration or concussion sound. I wear earplugs and the "vibration" is still uncomfortable. I am not sure if it is my torso hight to wind screen hight ratio thats causing the issue or perhaps its the large sun visor on the helmet itself. I did notice if I stand up and get fully in the wind the problem seems to dissipate. I am going to give it a try on my wife's R1200R when the weather warms up and see if it makes a difference ridding the helmet without a wind screen.

A Great Helmet for Off Road and Street

This is my second Arai XD. This purchase is an Arai XD3. Arai has made some improvements with the XD3 over the XD. The visor is shorter and has larger vents. It now seems to catch less air when your head is turned to the side or ride at high speed. The faceshield is excellent with little to no distortion and the ability to flip it up and down when needed is great. The seal is good.

This helmet flows a lot of air and that is one of the great and bad things about it. When it's hot it's great, when it's cold, it's not.

Because it'a a fairly open helmet, it's not very quiet, but that's to be expected of a helmet of this type.

All in all I would highly recommend this helmet.

fits great. also it has great ventilation. after reading mixed reviews about the visor, i decided to try one out.
on my 07 bmw 1200 gsa the visor is fine under 80mph. after that it starts to vibrate a little. great helmet!

Great Helmet. First decent ride I did was a 2600 mile iron but run on my 2007 GSA and the only issue was the wind. The bill tended to get hooked by the wind. Other than that, I'd highly recommend this helmet.

This helmet is the best! I love to be able to wear just my sun glasses when i ride, but some times that's not enough. That's when you can drop the shield and have all the wind protection you could ever want. And the black forest is killer.... I am a happy clam. Thanks RevZilla you guys rock.

all in all feels great, if using for onroad use be weary that you get a bit of a sail effect from the visor. i usually use an XS but orders S and it is a perfect fit. i was expecting refraction on the visor but was surprised that it was perfectly clear. cooler to wear in the 30C+ weather i ride in here.

Great helmet. Very comfortable and the ventilation is great. Well made. The sizing is spot on with the chart. Use a cloth tape to measure your head and order that size as per the chart. Plenty of room in the ear area for intercomm speakers and in the chin bar for a mike. Helmet is quiet, especally with the face shield closed.

Cons....Pricey, but what is your head and comfort worth? If I had to be pick a gripe I would like the face shield to retract more fully into the visor. When retracted it is still slightly in my line of sight. Not a big deal but it would be nice if it retracted out of sight.
