Nice shield
Wanted the dark smoke shield for my Vector helmet. As always, swapping shields with the Arai helmets can be a pain, but you get used to it.
The dark smoke is plenty dark, it sure beats toting sunglasses around, and as always with the Arai shields, the brow vents are nice. They feel kind of flimsy, but I have yet to have a hinge break.

light and dark smoke
So I am doing this review to talk about the light and dark smoked shields as I have both. I primarily use the light smoke. I can keep it on during the times right before sunrise and right after sunset and still see pretty well. This is only because the streets I primarily ride on are very well lit. One time I made the mistake of wearing the light smoke outside the city in total darkness. I was doing fine until I came into heavy fog and rain. At that point I coudn't see anything and would have really benefited from the completely clear shield. It was a stupid mistake that I will not make again and I hope others can avoid. Unfortunately I feel like the light smoke does not offer complete protection from the sun when it is very bright. My eyes are a little sensitive to light so I also purchased the dark smoke.
The dark smoke is great and offers as much protection during the brightest days that one could expect. I never find myself feeling like I need a darker shield with the dark smoke no matter how bright it is outside. Since visibility is very limited during early morning and late evening I never risk wearing this in low light situations. I primarily wear it when I am on the track and need the darkest screen possible.
When changing these lenses you should really use the oil that is supplied with them. Just lube up the ends that make contact with the helmet and it goes on with no problem. You only need to use a very small amount of lube. it goes a long way. Shield changes get better each time you do it as well. the first time is the hardest. don't let that discourage you from changing the shield to avoid riding in a dangerous situation.

COOL SHIELD
Great acc. to my Arai Quantum. Swapping the shields was quick, once you read the instructions. Fits perfectly with no negative effects to your field of vision. Blue mirror finish on outside with light smoke when looking through the shield. Haven't used it at night; that being said I use an Arai with a clear shield if I know I will be out after dark. And the best part - it looks COOL!

We can only confirm the SAQ Face Shield fits on the Arai Quantum/f and the Arai Quantum/s helmets. Since the Quantum/e is much older, it may be difficult to obtain parts for it, since Arai only recommends using a helmet for around 5 years. It may be time to Treat yo self to a new helmet, since EPS linings do begin to break down over such long times.1 month ago

I haven't tried the dark smoke color from Arai but i have tried the Scorpion version of it and looked through many others. In my experience no tint on the market is too dark for daytime riding and most tints are too dark for night-time riding.You don't want to get caught after sunset with a tinted visor and having to ride with it up to see. Better to use a clear visor with sunglasses that can be easily removed than have to get bug splats in your eyes while riding in the dark with your tinted visor up.
If you never ride at night then you'll probably be ok with whatever strikes your fancy.
