I don't think I've ever dithered over a purchase as much as I did in deciding on a new helmet. I got a new bike which easily gets me out on the highway and I felt I needed a more protection than my 1/2 helmet offered. Tried on full-face helmets and have to admit I couldn't deal with the claustrophobic feeling they gave me, not to mention my prescription glasses were difficult getting on. Gave a lot of thought to the modulars, but still would have the 'trapped' feeling and if I was primarily going to wear it as an open face helmet, then that's what I needed to look at. Revzilla's input was very helpful and I narrowed it down to this Arai. My head size is 58cm which puts me smack between medium and large, went with the medium. I couldn't be happier, perfect fit. Did 300 miles with it over the first weekend and never thought, "Well, this will feel better after it breaks in." Bought a Paulson clear face shield with it and the Arai visor and I'm set. As to noise, I wear earplugs on long rides. In town, yes, there's noise, but it's damped or more subtle than with the 1/2 helmet. Air flow is certainly less than the 1/2 helmet, but with the controllable vents I can feel the air flowing through it. I leave the face shield on it so getting the helmet on without knocking my glasses out of whack is taking some practice but it's certainly not the issue it was with the full-face models.

I have worn an Arai Classic /M helmet in the past, when it was time to replace it I ordered the Classic/C - same great fit and comfort, my J&M headsets fit in it perfect. Great helmet, Arai are the best fitting helmets for me.
