Great pants! I got these pants to replace my older overpants that left a lot to be desired. The fit is good and comes with some waist straps that allow adjustment, but I find them a bit baggy. I suppose that's to be expected with any riding pants short of leathers or Kevlar-reinforced jeans. If you're wearing shorts or underwear underneath, the pants can be a bit prickly on the inside of your knees when bent in the riding position. There is a nifty stretch panel in the back just below the belt that serves it's purpose well. The thermal liner does an adequate job, but only goes down to about half-way down your shins. The front leg pockets are very useful and easy to use when you're sitting on the bike. My only gripe other than the pricklyness is the slight difficulty when putting them on. The mesh insides like to stick to your feet when putting them on, and I can see myself ripping it by accident if I am in a hurry. Overall, the build quality of these pants are very good! Nice fit I bought one size larger because of liner. Had to send back and get same size as my jeans. The liner only goes 3/4 way down leg. The inseam is long - I fold up cuff when off bike so I don't walk on them. No cuff adjustment even though description said could adjust ankle. They fit nice, just like jeans. I wore them yesterday in 35 degree weather with liner and long underwear and was very comfortable. Anxious to wear in rain and see if really waterproof. Sure hope so. October 31, 2008

I own these pants and have been looking into maybe getting some WP pants to go with my Gunner jacket whenever it comes out. I noticed these are listed under waterproof and was a little unsure because I never knew this about the pant when I bought them. Are they drystar or something?

Answer: 
Alpinestars does advertise this as a waterproof pant, and we are inclined to believe them. However, we would suspect that they are better suited for shorter rides in kinda cruddy weather rather than a six hour monsoon. Give us a call at 877.792.9455 and we'll go over some options for you.
