The Durban is a new concept boot direct from the Alpinestars Technical Fashion Design Studio. Loving these boots. They are huge but are breaking in nicely. Just completed an 1800 mile trip from Chicago to Las Vega. Fit and finish are great. The real power of these boots coul;d be seen during a 200+ mile run in Utah through the rain. Not a single drop- unbelievable. Combined with my Alpinestar Tech Road gloves and Aerostick Transit suit, I was completely dry. Worth every cent!

i bought a pair of Durban boots last year and they are now my preferred riding boot for all the types of riding I do: commuting, adventure riding, and even sport bike riding. They are not very breathable but for a fully waterproof boot they are fine. There is a good amount of room in the toe box which is nice if you are wearing them all day. Protection is great and they offer decent support. I did 2000 miles of standup adventure riding in them through every type of condition and they did a superb job. Not as tough as a pair of Astars Tech 10 boots but way more livable. The best thing about them is that you can wear them off the bike! They are a dream to walk/hike around i which you are not going to feel like doing in the Scout boots (stiff and uncomfortable). That's what you are really paying for and it's worth it. They are also taller and have a much nicer top cuff and interior than the Scouts. Believe me, I tried them both out before laying that much down for boots (I do have Tech 10s for full off road use though). All my other boots are gathering dust now. I do wish that I could fit them over my track suit shin, the shin guard gets in the way, otherwise I'd be able use them all the time. I ended up gluing a piece of inner tube over my shift point to prevent excessive wear when they are wet because they are fullgrain leather throughout, that's the only downside. Enjoy breaking them in! Cheers

These are an excellent winter boot. I have ridden these down to 15 degrees and my feet do not get cold. They are a relaxed fit that allow you to wear a pair of nice thick socks underneath. The sole is not super rigid so you can walk around in them comfortably. They are easy to get on and off - they have the advantages of 3 motocross boot style buckles without wearing a bulky motocross boot. They are big but not huge - it's easy to get my Olympia Ranger 2 pants over them. The build quality is good - I like the way the sole is moulded over the upper of the boot. The leather/composite uppers are thick, seem tough but also flexible. So, these are an excellent boot BUT they these have one big drawback, namely the price. I was lucky - I scored a very lightly used pair on Ebay for $175 and am very pleased. However, for a boot almost double the price of the Alpinestars Scout, it's difficult to say that they are twice the boot. HOWEVER, if you don't mid spending the dosh, you will be the proud owner of an excellent pair of boots.
