Zero Gravity Double Bubble Windscreen Suzuki SV650S / SV1000S

The Zero Gravity Double Bubble Windscreen is the most popular windscreen with in the Zero Gravity family. Its innovative "bubble within a bubble" design was pioneered by Zero Gravity and provides the perfect amount of wind protection for riding in the tuck or sport riding position. Additionally, each windscreen has been sculpted to enhance the lines of each individual motorcycle. Style and protection, it’s a perfect combo.

All Zero Gravity Windscreens feature optically clear acrylic that absorbs vibration, resists cracking and are fabricated using highly specialized vacuum forming techniques, similar to those used to form aircraft canopies. The result is a virtually distortion free windscreen with the finest optical clarity on the market. Additionally, light scratches can be buffed out of acrylic windscreens as opposed to polycarbonate windscreens that can be permanently marred.

Features:

  • Shock resistant
  • Vacuum formed
  • Distortion free

I think I'd prefer a double bubble
I've got the sport touring model on my 2006 SV650s. It's almost too tall really, but it fits the bike just fine. I'm sitting behind the thing in a pocket of dead hot air, lol. I'm used to riding naked bikes though, so take that in consideration. I'm 6'1" tall and I'd like a bit more air getting to me. Also, I get a bit of wind buffeting on my helmet at highway speeds. If I tuck way down it goes away, or if I sit up real tall it goes away, making me think that the slightly lower double bubble would be perfect. Keep in mind, I've heard dark smoke is more delicate and can crack easier, for racing they almost always require clear, and my comments about wind buffeting probably only apply to the SV650s if you're 6'1" tall. Fitment for each bike and rider will be different.

double bubble
exactly what I'd expect from a windscreen -- mostly writing this review to remind others to order new `well nut`s x 4. it will make the install a breeze.

Great product depending on model
I bought the double bubble windshield twice for my 2009 SV650s. The install is incredibly easy, I recommend replacing the rubber hardware.

The problem with certain designs is that the windshield has flanges that extend beyond the fairing making them very susceptible to breakage. The first time I caught the edge on my jacket and it snapped. The second time I barely brushed against it while sitting at a gas station and reaching over to adjust my mirror. Both times they edge snapped very quickly.

The windshield itself performed well. Dark smoke is essentially black and you can't see through it.

Zero Gravity helped me out with a replacement windshield after I contacted them. This proves to me that they care about their product and stand behind it. I will remain a loyal customer, but will be careful what model windshield I order in the future.

SV650s install notes
These notes are for a 2004 SV650s. Buy the 9mm x 14mm well nuts and screws. You only need 4. The top two screws are self threading plastic and you will need the original. I bought this bike used so I am assuming this is stock stuff. Getting old well nuts out proved to be as big a challenge as anything. I ended up pushing them through and they fell onto the floor. You might want something under the dash to catch them. From there install is easy except for one thing. The screen does not fit right for the upper two screws. The spacer the screws go into at the top keeps the dash interior from snugging up as it should. But the fix was relatively easy. I took a small pvc pipe saw and cut down the spacer, then installed the old screws. Looks fine now. Nice and tight. I would buy again even with this little issue.

This windscreen is listed as an OEM fitment replacement but it is not.
I purchased this screen as a replacement to my OEM on my '07 SV650S. This screen is listed as a direct replacement. Be aware that it is not. There are molded fastener holes in the mold that the factory has not compensated for fairing molds. This basically means that all the fitment of the fairing around the screen will not be seamless and secure. I am returning the one I have due to this. For some it may not be a big deal but for me I like all things to fit as they need to be without gaps. One thing that I was not aware of till I began to look into this more is that this screen is NOT DOT approved. So if you have to have any safety inspection they will not pass you with this screen. Good luck.

I purchased this item for a previous bike I had and it worked great (better than stock windscreen). So I decided to buy this item for my new bike. I'm sure I'll be impressed.
