Yoshimura RS-4 Exhaust System Kawasaki Ninja 650 R

The Ninja 650 is a unique and versatile machine. Yoshimura took the opportunity to create a system that would not only improve performance, but also enhance characteristics inherit in the original engineering, i.e. centralized mass and low-center of gravity. They were able to achieve this through use of their RS-4 Muffler mated to a Full System, giving Ninja 650 owners the ultimate in Yoshimura power.

Yoshimura Full System includes stainless steel RS-4 muffler with turn-out carbon fiber end-cap, stainless steel header and tail-pipe, low-volume insert, installation hardware, and step-by-step instructions.

Note: Please check local laws before purchasing. Some modifications may be prohibited in some states.

Best I've found for a 2012-2015 Ninja 650 Researched exhaust manufacturers / reviews / listened to a bunch of clips and found that, hands down, this exhaust is the best sounding of the lot in my opinion. Great build quality, very easy to install(Don't even need to remove fairings) and looks amazing. Not sure if I noticed substantial, if any, performance gains. I bought it mainly for the sound/look -The silencer was the first thing to go. So if you're on the fence about which exhaust to go for on the Ninja 650 I highly recommend checking the Yoshi RS-4 out. Sounds amazing! This exhaust literally only took me 15 minutes to install! Sounds great. Fits like a glove. July 13, 2014
Great Product, Nice Sound Installed this over the weekend. TIP - Pull up the directions for the Two Brothers exhaust system if you want some better directions on how to remove your old exhaust. I fail at life when it comes to doing my installs so this took more like 3 hours for me lol. The exhaust sounds much deeper and nicer in person ( I kept the DB insert in it.) I am extremely happy with the quality of the part. I used the spacers and all and will keep the DB insert in it for now. My 2013 Ninja 650 ABS does backfire a little bit now but I haven't decided if I will end up committing to getting a power commander or juicebox. We'll see. :) Am very happy with my purchase. Great Sound and Looks, No need for Power Commander or Juice Box I bought this exhaust for my 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 650. The sound of stock was docile and I wanted to be heard on the street and be safe, specially from the Car Drivers talking on the phone, while sipping their coffee and making a turn on intersections - or changing lanes :) 1. Even with the quiet insert that comes standard-pre installed, the sound is Loud, I was riding by and a couple of times cops gave me 'I hear you riding by' look in NJ :) ....I'm sure it would be insane louder without the quiet insert. I've heard people driving with mad loud exhausts in NJ anyway... 2. Power commander is not needed and this works fine as stock replacement, unless you are tuning for a particular race track and want to change fuel supply map to a custom map. I got this reply in email from Yoshimura customer service. Alas, I had already bought and installed it by then since they took two weeks to respond :). 3. I got the installation of the full exhaust and power commander V done by the dealer, after buying these from Revzilla. He charged me for 2 hours of labor for installation of both the things and computer tuning for standard map for power commander. Even though the bike only had 1000 miles I changed the gaskets .....what is another 30 bucks while i'm throwing in all my savings on Mods:) 4. Can't comment on durability as I've had this for only 50 miles but Revzilla wouldn't let me leave it alone so I've rated excellent Cheers !!! May 23, 2014
great exhaust purchased this exhaust because i want to be heard. Really easy install about less than a hour to do and what a great sound! April 18, 2014
excellent design After an exhaustive search of every available system for this bike, I settled on the yoshimura and the final result exceeds my expectations. In terms of design, they really nailed it. No other system (in my opinion) integrates so seamlessly into the unique styling nuances of the 2012-14 ninja 650. The materials, fit, finish, and construction are all superb. The stock headers, mid pipe, and canister are garbage in comparison. I verified with yoshimura (and received the comprehensive reply the same day) that this system is designed to run with the stock fuel settings. Dyno charts are on par with everyone else's...Arrow, Remus, and Akrapovic are the other systems that received my most serious consideration. Installation was painless - aided by the precision design. Didn't even try it with the db killer in, that went straight into the garbage. Almost a shame because that too is beautiful. CNC machined aluminum with a stainless tube. End result, night and day. Loud. But crisp and clean. I'd describe the sound as similar to a smaller cc ducati with an aftermarket exhaust, but cleaner and more crisp. Pleasantly loud with the typical twin boom-boom. Night and day improvement to throttle response. Less abrupt engine braking upon decel. And the fueling is spot on. Agree or disagree...I don't care. But that is my educated opinion. I don't usually write reviews, but there isn't much good information written about this system on this bike, so I'm hoping it helps someone fretting about their own exhaust choice. January 28, 2014

A shopper asked: it says low db insert, is there an actual number on how loud it is? May 1, 2014

joseph k: I don't have any specific numbers on the db rating. However I purchased this exhaust a few weeks ago and am completely satisfied. The shipping box was excellent it comes shipped with the "low db insert" installed, i would describe it as a mild loud exhaust. Ride it around the block a few times with insert in it. Then removed insert and will never put it back in. Idle is nice and deep if u stand in front of the outlet of muffler it goes through your chest! Revving in neutral sounds a little high pitched for my taste, however under load while driving/ cruising it's a nice deep rich sound. May 1, 2014

Brett H: I think "Mildly loud" is perfect. This is definitely loud but not too loud to anger lots of people. It's good and no video will do it justice. May 27, 2014

Linh N: I don't know the number, but it is significantly louder than the stock exhaust. I was surprised on how loud it was when I installed it. May 1, 2014

A S asked: Hi,

I have "Kawasaki 2012 Ninja 650".
I'm looking for Exhaust upgrade, most likely Slip-On, because I live in USA, CA.
Main reason is to make it sound better, other advantages are welcome while legal with CA air laws.

Any advice which one I should by for my purpose?

Linh N: For this exhaust, you'll get a full exhaust system, because the 650R's muffler can't be taken off. I'm not sure if the exhaust system allows for slip-ons after that. Also, this exhaust system requires the removal of the cat. converter, so it may interfere with CA's air laws.

As for sound, it makes it sound incredibly beefy and aggressive, and is also pretty loud (Just turning on my bike and night has caused neighbors to get upset, oops). If you want something with more of a "MotoGP" sound, I'd look at the leo vince.

joseph k: CA has tons of restriction laws. I own the Yoshimura and it is very deep and loud. However it does come with the silence pre installed. As long as you don't remove that the police won't bother you and it is a noticeable difference in tone. I have a 2013. And there is no slip on available it is a full exhaust system only. The stock exhaust is on piece on the 2013 model at least not sure about 2012 Aug 14, 2014

Brett H: My Ninja 2013 650 ABS does backfire a bit so a juicebox or power commander might be useful but that is really up to you. It is running fine without one for me but I will probably get one in the future. May 27, 2014

Ryan R: Crush gaskets for your header connections. There was a guy who, upon removing the OEM exhaust, found that the factory never put any on in the first place. Kind of scary. Jun 21, 2014
