Yoshimura R77 Street Slip-On Exhaust Kawasaki Ninja 1000

The Yoshimura R-77 Slip-On Exhaust was designed with the needs of the racer in mind. Using the feedback received from the Yoshimura Road Racing Team, their designers came up with a muffler that is constructed from lightweight materials, grants a significant boost in power thanks to its high-flow trapezoidal shape and gives your bike a great sound without being excessively loud.  The muffler will help your engine make more power while reducing overall weight. The end result is an exhaust that will let your motorcycle reach its maximum potential!

Features:

  • Superbike technology and styling
  • Trapezoidal-shaped sleeve
  • Straight baffle for ample flow
  • Innovative end-cap
  • Stainless steel mid-pipe (applicable models)
  • Made in the USA

Why I Chose Yoshi
Over the years I have installed a number of complete exhaust systems and slip ons. Slip ons are easy upgrades to the stock bike. For my 2013 Ninja 1000 I did not want to install a fuel tuner so the full system was out - fuel tuners in the past have violated warranties on my bikes - I want to be able to slip the stocks back on run it into the dealer and have him fix it being none the wiser that I have made mods (I have an extended warranty on the Kawi that I need to protect). I decided on the Yoshi because 1. I did not want too loud a pipe (I have made that mistake in the past a couple of times) just something a bit beefier sounding, 2. paying $1300 for a pair of slip on mufflers is insane (I am not that stupid) like some of the other brands, and 3. I wanted to be able to repack the filler at a reasonable price (Yoshi filler is $40, Two Brothers and Akrap are $100....Akrap requires a dealer to break the studs and replace....Yoshi uses aluminum screws) - filler repack is recommended on all the mufflers every 10k miles which is less than 1.5 years of riding for me (too soon to buy a new set of mufflers so DIY replacement is important for me).
I just ordered. Will update after install. BTW I did not order a servo buddy due to a comment below that it is not needed - we'll see.

really happy with the dual carbon slip on
I really went back and forth on the exhausts for my ninja 1000, between full line vs slip-on, single vs dual, carbon vs titanium. In the end I stuck to the easy solution of dual slip-ons. The installation took me 30min but that was mainly because the stock ones are annoying to remove (servo cables) and only 5min to put on the yoshis. The style and finish are really great. I'm glad I got the dual, they look nice and compact and balanced on the bike. I didnt put the noise inserts in, and the noise is at the right level with the CAT still on. I wouldnt go for any louder. The carbon makes the sound very very deep and pure (less metallic). When you fire up the engine, it's like a base subwoofer with lots of watts, very cool. Bring up the rpm and it sings gloriously. In terms of performance, it's more free flowing than the stock, probably a few HP gained. The real gain would come from a full line w/o cat which adds 15HP. My only issues is whether the carbon will age well.

Freat performance and sound
LOVE this exhaust!! I purchased the carbon fiber and it was worth every penny. Once I removed the servo (which can be a pain depending on how yours is cabled) and clamped these on I noticed an immediate performance increase. My 2nd gear no longer has any high end flat areas. I literally was thrown back a bit when I first started riding as I was used to the stock exhaust.

One item to note is that you may want to pick up a servo buddy (http://www.shopskutr.com/servo-buddy/) since the motor won't need to be used any more, you may as well remove it and strap this in to prevent any FI codes and motor burnout if you ever need to roll back to stock.

The right cans
It's always so hard to know what unit is too loud, too quiet, requires tuning etc.
I looked and tried a bunch of cans as I just wanted something louder than stock so you could hear the great sound the engine had to offer.
The Yoshis are perfect!
Throttier sound, louder but not at all obnoxious.
The look in carbon fiber is off the hook, gorgeous through and through.
It transforms the look of the bike,-from goofy looking to "Ahhhh, that's just right".
To install them was literally minutes and required no mods and very simple hand tools.
Bang for the buck, best mod made to the bike.
For once, something worthwhile :-)

Great product
Very easy to install and much lighter than stock. Comes with inserts to reduce the db's if you prefer a quieter exhaust note. I found the sound to be perfect but I wouldn't want it to be any louder. Looks great with the red cowling. I may be one of the few out there who actually likes the stock pipes, particularly the sound from them, but they are very heavy. The Yoshi slip ons bring up the power a bit with the added power commander V. Maybe 5 extra horses added. I will be dyno testing it soon for exact figures.

Will my bike run problem-free with its factory exhaust valve cables disconnected? It's a 2011 Ninja 1000 (Z1000SX).
Had some problem with my previous Z750 after installing a Termignoni universal muffler with these cables disconnected (FI signal started flashing after a few months of use).
A shopper on Jul 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I installed the Yoshimura R-77 slip-ons on my 2012 Ninja 1000 a few months ago and they are great. At the same time, I also installed a servo buddy (Google it), which plugs into the factory electrical connector for the servo motor and spoofs the computer into thinking the servo motor is still there.

That way, you can eliminate the weight and bulk of the servo motor and valve actuation cables, but avoid triggering an error condition that will cause the motorcycle equivalent of the dreaded "check engine" light, aka the FI light. Otherwise, the servo system has no effect on how the bike runs - the system exists only to control noise levels, as far as I am aware.
Can I still mount the Givi side cases with these mufflers installed?
A shopper on Sep 15, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the Givi luggage will fit.
If buying for a ninja 1000 going with the ss would I pay the 719 and change for both or only one?
Joel M on Mar 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You get both and I think you'll like them! I bought the carbon fiber ones for my 2012 N1k and love them! Easy install and they sound great!
Hey Guys, I have a 2014 N1k with the OEM saddle bags. Will I still be able to use the OEM saddle bags?
