Yoshimura R-77 Slip-On Exhaust Honda CBR500R / CB500F / CB500X

Superbike styling right from Yoshimura Suzuki Road Racing! The trapezoidal shape is all business but as racing enhances the breed – the result function driven shape makes for a beautiful muffler. The R-77 delivers better performance overall because of the larger volume of packing material available due to its design. Finally, a great sound comes from the R-77 – not loud, but throaty.

The R-77 features a straight baffle with removable low volume insert. The muffler’s front-cap is MIG-welded while the end-cap is riveted using high-end 304-L polished stainless steel rivets and bands. It was a perfect choice for Honda's new 500cc line-up!

NOTE: This exhaust is CARB compliant. Please check local laws before purchasing. Some modifications may be prohibited in some states.

Great sound Sounds fantastic. Not quite as loud as the twin brothers but sounds much better. A few of my riding buddies have taken to giving me the lead and trying to stop a long side me to hear it. Sounds fantastic with a little bit of engine braking. Best mod I've ever made. December 15, 2014
This exhaust is awesome! Great exhaust for the price, sounds great especially after you break it in. I commute 90 miles a day mostly highway and the exhaust sounds good. It's not super loud but it's loud enough. Also take into consideration I ride with ear plugs in. The pipe shape and size go great with the overall look of the bike . I would recommend this exhaust to any CBR 500 owner. You can't beat a 15 minute install time. August 18, 2014
Sounds great, looks better I expected it to be a little louder, but then again it's only going on a 500, which is a rather small bike. It sounds really nice though, I watched videos on it before hand and the videos don't sound as good as the actual exhaust in reality. I recommend this exhaust to anyone debating between Two Brothers and Yoshi. August 18, 2014
push the EASY button! ease of install was great…took longer to clean off fingerprints than it did to install it! everything fit…….sounds great, running with NO baffle/sound suppressor…(looks easy to install if needed) 2013 cbr 500 ra May 19, 2014
LOVE IT I noticed a very slight difference in the performance of my bike right away. Not a significant increase to be bragging about but enough to make a difference. The sound however sounds sexy. Throttle response feels better but that might just because I am getting better at riding my bike as I have owned it under a year. Still highly recommend this exhaust. Looks fantastic on the bike. Amazing I bought this for my 2013 CB500F and had it installed at my local Moto Shop (I did not want to mess it up) it looks great and the sound is amazing!! No need to get it Dyno at all, just put on and your ready to go. January 31, 2014
Easy 15 m Install. Quality appearance and sound. 'nuff-said' cbr500-ers buy it! Fantastic looking product. Was going to go with stainless but the weight savings, ease of cleaning, and aesthetics are too good to ignore. Install was a breeze due to the guide and PROPER tools. Be careful with the torquing, the guide stated 10 ft lbs on the pipe clamp but with never-seize the bolt split in two while torquing (luckily local hardware store had an exact replacement). After all is said and done the sound was at least 25% louder not to mention the throaty groan of the pipe at idle and takeoff. I have heard that adding the optional baffle to these pipes negatively affects torque or hp, but I have yet to hear any solid facts on this claim. For 500 bucks you will expect a lot from a slip-on and Yoshi delivered. I am very pleased with this product and this pipe brings a lot to the table for our cbr500's. December 17, 2013
Ending the era of the sewing machine! I've really enjoyed my CBR 500r, but let's face it - the stock exhaust sounds terrible! I had a Yoshi pipe on a previous bike and was very happy with it, so I tried them again. I am very happy with the choice. The sound is great! Clearly there is also a weight savings, but in reality there is likely not that large of a performance change. That said, as the sound is so much better there is certainly at least the illusion of improved throttle response. Really happy with this. Looks great. Sounds great. Weight savings. "Feels" sportier. Great price. Not much not to like! July 29, 2013

Ryan G: I talked to many people who had sport bikes and Yoshi exhaust systems tended to be at the top of everyones charts for which one is best. So I got the best for my bike. Sep 5, 2014
Richard L: Yoshimura is a quality company and having a little more sound helps the drivers of cars around you to know you are there. Aug 8, 2014
A B: It was between this and another brand but after some research and listening to the sound on youtube it was an obvious choice for me which one I wanted so I got it. May 12, 2014
Dwayne B: Great looks and price plus other reviews were extremely helpful. Apr 20, 2014

A shopper asked: Can you remove the silencer or baffler ? May 1, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Thomas O: The baffle can absolutely be left out!
In fact, I encourage it because it sounds better without it in my opinion. That's what I did with mine and now I feel that drivers can here me better!

BTW, when you receive the Exhaust, you have a choice whether to put it in or not? It doesn't come already installed with the baffle; but the baffle is provided.

joseph r: Yes, my opinion it sounds a lot better without it. It comes without it installed from the factory, so you would have to install it yourself after you put the exhaust on your bike, it's easy just 1 screw. May 1, 2014

A shopper asked: Is this legal for use in California? Oct 17, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Tchon M: No, it even has a sticker on the muffler that says that when you get it. That being said you would have to have the worst luck in the world for a Police Office/Sheriff or CHP to give you a ticket for it. Unless you doing wheelies in the intersection of you town. I even had the Local Honda Dealer install it for me without an issue. Sound is great and I even get a bit better MPG. Oct 17, 2014

Dwayne B: You would have to check with you lacal noise ordnance. It does come with an insert to make it quieter but I have never used it. I don't really have a problem with it being loud and awesome. Hope I helped. Oct 17, 2014

Dylan J: I'm pretty sure its not legal in CA but it seems like nothing is legal in CA. I've never been bothered about mine yet though. Oct 19, 2014

Thomas O: Hi,
This is absolutely legal in Cali!

It's not loud enough to be cited for noise!
Thanks, Thomas ;-)

A S asked: Looking for a noisier exhaust for 2014 CB500F. Is this better than Two Brothers M-2? Sep 11, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
J U: Two Brothers M2 Black Series (my wife's CBR500R)

Louder than Yoshimura
Gives a bit of punch
Causes the fan to kick on from making the engine run a bit lean unless you use a different fuel map

Yoshimura R-77 ( my CBR500RA )

Great deep sound
Looks better I believe (the carbon fiber one)
All around great exhaust and my personal preference

Dwayne B: I'm not sure if it is louder but I am extremely satisfied with the Yoshimura. It is pretty loud. Sep 11, 2014

J U: My wife has a Two Brothers M2 Black Series on her CBR500R and I have the Yoshimura on my CBR500RA. The answer is the Two Brothers seems a bit louder but the sound of the Yoshimura I personally like better. I also believe the carbon fiber Yoshimura looks much better but the Two Brothers appears to give my wife's bike a bit more punch, even though I also have the DNA Performance Air Filter.

Hope this helps.

Dylan J: I went with the yoshi because it had a smoother deeper sound over the two bros. The yoshi isn't louder I don't think though. Just buy the r77! You'll love it Sep 12, 2014

A shopper asked: The Two Brothers slip on shows the modified HP curve. What increase in HP does the Yosh offer? Oct 15, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Brooks D: I didn't do a pre and post dyno. The reality is that the biggest change is clearly the sound. Now does that sound impact how aggressively you throttle control or you perception of what's happening? Dunno - it certainly feels that way.

Yoshi does offer a dyno curve on what the slipon is supposed to give you. It doesn't show a ton of lift and you have to suppose they are cherry picking to get that. The reality is that in a bike with mid 40s HP if you pick up 1 HP you got a 2-2.5% increase (probably on the bottom end of noticeable).

All that said, some of the best money I've ever spent. Sounds great. Looks great and changes my perception of what I'm riding from a vacuum cleaner to a sport bike!

Thomas O: After placing the Yoshi R77 slip-on to my CBR500R, I noticed an increase of approximately 5 - 8% HP. Doesn't seem much but it feels much faster than with the stock exhaust! However, if you install the full system, you may get up to 10% HP but you'll be paying between $1000 to $1200! I don't think it's worth the extra cash for little increase in HP between a slip-on & a full system.
Plus, after doing research on different exhausts,
The Yoshi sounds better compared to Two Bros, Akrapovic, and Leo Vince!
The only exhaust I actually considered to buy but was over my budget was the M4.

Hope this helped?

A shopper asked: Hi, The Two Brothers exhaust says do not use with saddle bags. The Youshi does not say anything about that. I have saddle bags on my X. Does anyone know if it is OK to use the Yoshi with Honda saddle bags? Thanks. Dec 28, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Tchon M: I am not sure to be honest. I dont think it would hurt either way. I put the Youshi on my 500F and love it Feb 25, 2014

A shopper asked: Does the optional baffle insert affect the low end torque, hp, or top speed of the cbr500r? I just installed the carbon r77 slip on and it came without the baffle pre-installed. Thanks! Dec 17, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Brooks D: So let me start by saying that I think the r77 is a fantastic mod to the CBR500. I love mine. The bike sounds better and looks better. Is there more low end torque, hp or top end speed with (or without the baffle)? I can't really say. Yoshi's dyno graphs would suggest that they do, but certainly don't show anything overwhelming. Also it is worth noting that Yoshi has a vested interest in making that improvement as large as possible. All of which is to say, I seriously doubt the added back pressure of baffle is going to change things much one way or another (or at least at a level you'd notice or could measure).

What I would say is measurable is the added enthusiasm you have to turning your wrist when the sound changes from the vacuum cleaner stock exhaust to the sweet sounding Yoshi slip on.

Highly recommend the slip on. If you are worried about it, leave the baffle out. The bike isn't loud either way!
