Yoshimura Chassis Protector Kits

Yoshimura Chassis Protectors help minimize damage from sliding type falls, can save you hundreds of dollars in repairs, and maybe keep you from getting a DNF on race day. The plastic construction is soft enough to slow slides and wear down slowly... yet tough enough to keep the track away from your bike in most cases.

good protection They should significantly reduce the damage if I drop it. July 21, 2014
Good product with horrible instructions The product seems of high quality, but I luckily haven't tested them in a crash. They do however come with terrible instructions with only two blurry black and white photos. Yoshimura really needs to do a much better job of instructions. In an ideal world they'd even do a video of the install. Overall took about 3 hours to install. July 21, 2014
I was surprised and not in a good way... When I got to the right side (which was a breeze when compared to the left), I was absolutely shocked to see that Yoshimura expects you to replace the extremely well engineered, steel Kawasaki engine mount with their own aluminum piece. I was confused at first, because I wasn't expecting to swap that mount. Nowhere does it state that this is what they want you to do. Furthermore, this was not the case on the left hand side, in that they just replaced some bolts that were holding a cover in place. ----- Installation: Left Side: the left side involved the engine mounting bolt and two screws from a part of the engine cover. Easy. Right Side: the right side involved the engine mounting bolt, two bolts that hold the mount to the frame, and a replacement engine mount as well as a replacement fairing mount. This is where things got tricky for me. You are to place the bracket and replacement fairing mount behind the frame mount. Fairing removal: 3 large plastic rivets that are under the bike. 5 (on both sides) small plastic rivets located behind the fairing and under the front of the bike. 3 (on both sides) black screws that hold the fairings on up top. Yes. Even the screws under the windscreen by the instrument cluster. Once you've removed all the parts that hold the fairings in place, they slide back and drop down, which allows you to unplug the built in blinkers. To remove the small plastic rivets, simply push in the middle part. This will allow you to pull the rivet out. When you go to replace the rivet, pull the plastic inner piece out, beyond flush, put the rivet in and then push the middle piece to flush with the rest of the rivet. To remove the large plastic rivets on the belly, pull the tab out carefully and then pull the entire rivet out. To replace them, simple insert the rivet and then push the middle piece in flush to lock the rivet in place. ----- Protection: Left Side: I believe the left side will hold up well in an accident. There is a lot of reinforcement and space for the mount to bend, if need be. However, there may be the potential of damaging the engine cover mounting holes. Right Side: I believe that the removal of the Kawasaki engine mount is a terrible idea, because the stock one is excellently engineered. In addition, in the event of an accident, I can see this mount bending and severely damaging the engine. The rear of the frame slider sits in a spot that would impact the engine. ----- TL;DR Overall I would NOT recommend this product. I just can't get over the fact that they me to replace that engine mount on the right side. I like what they did on the left side, but hate what they did on the right. I just can't see that piece of aluminum holding up nearly as well as the stock steel piece. June 27, 2014
High quality protection Just what I was looking for. Sleek design that fits perfectly the lines of the bike. June 24, 2014
Yoshi sliders for ninja 300 If you dont mind cutting into your fairings these are the sliders for you. Extremely well made and durable. They look great once installed. I hope i never have to experience how they hold up during a lowside fall, but I'm sure they'll protect your bike. Yoshimura is known for quality products. I have no doubt the sliders will do their job. June 16, 2014
Great product I bought these frame sliders for my Ninja 650R which happens to be my very first bike. One thing I didn't know is that you have to disassemble the body in order to install these. The body panels are VERY delicate and those push pins were not so easy to take off so be careful removing them. Also, there are these two pieces that go one on each side of the bike. The fitment is so precise it is very tight. I almost thought it was a manufacturer error. Next, the instructions were vague as I'm not very mechanically inclined I wish it would have given detailed instructions on removing the body panels. That, I would have to say was the biggest issue/disappointment for me. I expected better since I've heard about the Yoshimura brand long ago even before getting my first bike. Lastly, once installed they looked beautiful on my bike and even improved the look aesthetically on my motorcycle. Soon after installing them I fell off my bike doing a tight u-turn and they saved my bike from getting scratched up so I am pleased they saved my bike from getting scratched up. I would like to add I wish they sold the rubber sliders separately just for people like me who've dropped their bike and the sliders got messed up so we do not have to buy the whole kit over again. I'm not saying mine were ruined but you can definitely tell as the writing is no longer readable. I think in a high speed crash these would have been done for sure. Overall I recommend these as they improve the look of the bike and they did what they were designed to do which is- protect the motor and the body. I just wish they printed more detailed instructions on removing the body panels and they sold replacement rubber sliders separately as well. June 8, 2014
