Yoshimura Fender Eliminator Kit Suzuki DRZ400S / DRZ400SM
Awesome and convenient
Purchased for 2006 DR-Z400SM.
Installs incredibly easy. Cleans up the giant stupid stock fender, chuck that thing across the garage...
Super bright LED tail/brake light, no concern for reduced visibility whatsoever.
A bight expensive for what it is, even though it is extremely well made. This really should be <$100... that being said, I feel great about how it looks and it wasn't so expensive that I regret the purchase

I am in LOVE with this kit.
It makes the bike look more aggressive! I was semi concerned about not being able to be seen, but that isnt an issue with this. Those LEDs are so bright, i might actually need to slightly tint it so they dont blind people at night haha. It was incredibly easy to install and it bolted to the frame, not the fairing! So if that helps you decision a new fairing kit, pull the trigger on both! If this help also, i have a 2015 drz400 as well. She is still a WIP so dont pay attention to the mismatched parts haha.

Don't even try other fender delete options
Yes, this one is pricey. But for the ease of install, fit, finish and how much brighter the tail light/brake light is from behind, it is worth it. I went through a few flea bay tail lights and brake lights after the PO of my drz sawed off the fender without finishing the fender delete, but they never quite fitted or looked right. Plus they were not as bright as I would like, making me feel unsafe when riding at night on the freeway.
The fit and finish of this one is Yoshimura quality - everything just fits. I am not the most mechanically inclined person but even I had no trouble installing this.
Bottom line, save you money and just buy this one. Don't bother with the cheap ones.

Cleans up rear end nicely
Most people like myself dislike the stock rear fender setup. I actually sawed off the reflector portion the first day I got it. In the meantime I ordered this. I installed it the first day I got it, but unfortunately ran into problems. There was a short in the wiring that was causing my main fuse to blow. I contacted Yoshimura and they went above and beyond to make this right. They sent me a new light before I sent the broken one back. It came in 2 days and everything worked fine. I really like the white color of the brake light when the light is not on. The hardware in this kit is good hard steel that will surely take some abuse before failing. Perhaps it's a tad pricey, but other than my fluke with the faulty wiring this product is quality like all of Yoshimura's products.

Looks good, but only 85% there
I would recommend trying another brand for this. Here's why.
1) I really care about weight and this thing probably saves a litte over the stock but not much if any. It consists of 3 stainless steal brackets that don't give any thought to weight savings. It might be extra durable, but that's not my priority.
2) Wire problems. They came with spade connectors so I can reinsert them into my old connector. They were not crimped hardly at all, and I had to diagnose the rear taillight not working because of this. Also the 3 brake light wires have no insulation tube so you are left with these wires dangling under your rear fender where rocks and dirt can hit them. I used electrical tape to wrap the 2 feet of wire.
It looks great when done, but took me extra time sorting out the wire issues.

Great fit and finish
INstalled on a 2014 DR-Z400SM. The fit and finish are excellent, and the installation was mostly simple. The only two things to note:
1) The instructions must be for a previous or alternate version because the wire colors do not match the actual product. So for the running light, brake light, and ground wires, you need to just test until you find the right combination (not hard).
2) since i had to try a few different configurations in the harness (you need to reuse the stock wire harness), I actually pulled one wire out of it's connector, but that was fixed by putting it back in and tightening the connector to the wire a bit with a crimper.
Very small issues though. Once installed, it is very functional, fitment is perfect, and build quality is what you'd expect from Yoshimura.
