Wolfman Wolf Tail Bag

The Wolfman Wolf Tail Bag is a medium-sized bag that attaches easily with bungee/hooks to seats or racks. Five compartments help keep items organized. On top, a bungee web can hold a light jacket or gloves when you're off the bike. Medium-sized? Yes, but it will still swallow a full-face helmet. Plus there's an expandable gusset for habitual over-stuffers. Plenty of room for a big day or a long weekend. Or match it with some of Wolfman's other luggage as part of a complete touring rig. The bungee mount is simple, versatile and secure, Wolfman designed it with urban riders and road trips in mind. (Rough off-road riders may want to look toward one of Wolfman's strap-mounted bags for a super-secure mount.)

Features:

 • Three outside signature “Crescent” pockets for easy access
 • #10 YKK zippered main opening
 • Expandable gusset
 • Bungee net integrated into top of bag
 • D-ring for shoulder strap
 • Adjustable bungee and hook mounting system
 • Non-scratch, non-skid bottom
 • Reflective handle and trim
 • Interior zippered mesh pocket
 • 30-liter capacity

Dimensions:

 • Width 9 1/2”
 • Length 12 ”
 • Height 9” (12 1/2”” expanded)
 • Closed - 19.5 Liters, 1189 cu.in. (Each pocket is 1.5 liters, 91cu.in.)

Capacity:

 • Expands to 24.5 Liters, 1495cu.in.

Just what I was looking for.
I purchased this tail bag for my 2013 Suzuki Vstrom. I wanted something that I could use for commuting to work and the occasional trip to the store. The bag was very easy to attach to the mounting rack on my bike. There is ample room inside for a pair of gloves, over pants, and jacket liner. With the bag expanded I can fit my XL full face helmet inside. I'd call that plenty of room! I can't rate the durability yet, but I'm going to assume it will hold up very well.

Wolman makes quality products
Bought this to use on a Tiger 800 XC. Fits the stock rear rack without issue. Wolfman makes quality products and for the price I believe they are superior to other bags in the same or higher price range. Plus, they are an American owned company that still make the bags here.

Fit and finish of the bag is great. Zippers are very nice and work well. The reflective tape they use on the bag is very highly reflective. Installation with the bungee cords is a snap and the bag holds well once installed.

Perfect tail bag for my T-Bird Storm!
I was sick of hauling around a backpack so I got the tail bag. Couldn't be happier. I can run almost all my errands with my bike now. Expand the bag and it easily swallows up a 12 pack of beer bottles. Washes out easy too in case your groceries spill. Bungee connection system works perfectly. I use the hooks for my sissy bar luggage rack and take them off when the bag is on my passenger seat. Bag acts as a back rest in the latter position. Could not be happier!

Good overall, some doubts
The Wolf Tail pack is a lot bigger than it looks. It takes a ton of stuff even when not expanded. Here's what I manage to pack in there without expanding the top:
- Jetboil
- 2x Jetboil gas refill canisters
- Pinnacle Dualist cook system
- Small binoculars
- Toilet bag
- Black Diamond Orbit lantern
- 2x tire levers
- BMW motorcycle tool set rollbag
- Nalgene wide mouth loop-top water bottle
- Drying and washing cloths
In the mesh pocket of the top - 2x high absorbency camping towels
In the external pockets:
Pocket 1: chain lube, tire puncture repair kit
Pocket 2: first aid kit
Pocket 3: energy bars and other snacks

The product is well thought out and designed. Three external pockets are large enough to carry a lot of stuff, making all contents easily accessible without having to unpack anything in the main compartment. The 'lid' of the main compartment has a zippered mesh pocket to stow flatter items. I keep my high absorbent camping towels in there. The bottom has a rubberized base which limits slip, not that this is a big deal when the bag is stowed onto the bike.
I have a concern about the bungees of the Wolf Tail pack. They seem like they may not last very long, especially if used in off road conditions. Because the pack is so huge, it can take a lot of stuff, which can make it quite heavy, based on the contents. On some recent mild off road rides on rough gravel roads, the bag moved around quite a bit on the back of my BMW 650 Dakar, even though I have the bungees as tight as possible. I had to keep checking if it was still there. If the ride gets real rough, or the poor surface ride is very long, I am suspicious of the longevity of the bungees.
I use a ratchet strap over the top if I know the conditions are going to be rough.
Also, the bag is so big, I am struggling to find a base big enough to hold it on the tail. The standard Dakar tail rack is too small.
Overall though I am very happy with the pack and would recommend it for most conditions other than very long or very rough off road rides.

Very useaful soft tail bag
It's a Wolfman, need I say more? I own a lot of Wolfman products and they're all still going strong and serving the purpose. If a Wolfman product can serve my needs, then I don't need to look elsewhere because their satisfaction rate with me is so high.

I needed a storage unit for my Tenere that wouldn't add weight, bulk, or get in the way. Due to a passenger backrest, traditional top boxes were not usable. The Wolf Tail Bag is a perfect fit. It's 3 external, zippered storage pockets are convenient for frequently used items. The expandable main compartment is perfect for a bike cover, dry bags with cooling vests, lunch boxes, or other occasionally used items. I keep my cable/lock under the bag and routed through the mounting loops - tidy and secure.

Bear in mind that it's not waterproof, so pack accordingly. This is one of those products that makes me smile because I get so much use out of it.

Great Product
I was impressed with the ease of installing the bag. I was worried about the tail pack not staying secure while riding off road. No problem after 80 miles of rough gravel roads and single track riding.

Great for BMW R1200GS
This bag seems custom made for the space where the pinion seat mounts, when that seat is removed on my GS, fitting in perfectly. That's how I use the bag. Very large when expanded. No complaints other than would love for it to be waterproof w/o having to use the raincover. In the photo, my seat is off the bike as I'm charging the battery.

Just what I wanted
Did not want to run a top box on my Super Enduro, but due to my occupation I needed a tail bag that was easy to take on/off and was large enough to hold a full face helmet.

Just like every other Wolfman product I have purchased this tail bag is top notch. I can install or remove it from my CJ Designs tail rack in under a minute. It holds either my Shoei Multitec or Aria XD just fine.

I have only used it for commuting and the occasional trip to the store, it stays put just fine with the supplied straps, even when loaded with a couple six packs.

Excellent quality and exactly what I was looking for.

Cheers Ken

Excellant tail bag with great features
Very pleased with the quality of the bag. The Wolf tail bag is a great medium sized (not too big or to small) tail bag. Will have no problem carrying all my tools/spares and other items required for a days adventure outing.

James B on Sep 16, 2015
Perfect size for carrying tools, tubes, tire irons, etc for a dual sport/adventure day ride. Also trust the Wolfman brand.
JeffN on Sep 14, 2015
Two reasons: First, it has rigid sides so that it will stand up when empty. Second, it is just the right size to fit me rear rack.

I bought this to go on the back of my Husky TR 650 Strada, and it works great. I've since sold that bike, and now use it on my FZ-09. It's a little big for that application but still fits securely and holds a lot of stuff so I deal with it being a little big.
Christopher D on Jul 28, 2014
I purchased the Wolfman Tail Bag, to attached to my Pat Walsh Design rack, I was using a backpack to carry items, very cumbersome, and not comfortable. The Wolfman Tail Bag has more than enough storage space, for anything you want to carry.
Michael L on Jul 20, 2014
fits both my bike (R1100S) and my girfriend's (ninja 250). Holds pretty heavy stuff without becoming unstable, fairly low profile and expandable. Very satisfied with this purchase."

Looking for something big enough to carry extra gear (store a helmet, carry a 6 pack) on my KTM 950. This bags seems to fit the bill.

Will this bag fit a gallon of milk with a little room left over?
Robert V on Oct 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It will zip closed with my xl shoie neotec helmet. I'm sure the milk will fit with a little space left over. I love the bag and use it instead of a tank bag on my 1200GSA.
Will this bag work without a rack? I have a Moto Guzzi V7 Classic with a bench seat, but no rack. Looking for an easy luggage solution without installing any hardware. Thanks in advance!
A shopper on Mar 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The answer will lie in how you are planning to affix it to your bike. The bag comes with 4 elastic bungees with sewn in hooks. I have used it as a tank bag by pulling the bungees to the engine guards.

You need to figure out how you are going to keep this on the back of your bike. I would guess it could hitch to Buddy Pegs...
How long are the straps that fix this to the rack? Would I be able to put it on top of my 1gallon rotopax or maybe even two?
Bike: 2014 KTM 690 enduro R
Rack: Nomadic KTM 690 Aluminum Rear Luggage Rack
Rotopax: Rotopax KTM 1 Gallon Gasoline Fuel Pack
A S on Feb 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: i have the bag... i just measured the bungees... they are 10" (12" to end of the hook)... extended they will stretch another 6" or so... if it will fit your particular application, i do not know... but i hope the measurement helps you out some...

i would also think, if you like the bag, stretch cord shouldn't be too hard to find... then you could make the bungees as long as you want... the hoops are a simple design that can be removed in seconds.. the bungees are just a loop of cord pushed through a metal eyelet in the bottom of the bag with a know where the 2 ends are... the knot acts as the anchor in the hole... simple yet effective system that is easily modded...
