Vance & Hines VO2 Naked Air Intake Kit Yamaha Bolt

V&H has taken their popular VO2 Naked air intake kit and designed it for the Yamaha Bolt. Utilizing a sleek dual port venturi machined from billet aluminum, the VO2 Naked is a direct bolt-on to the factory throttle body. Combined with its high flow washable filter element, the VO2 Naked air intake kit produces strong performance gains across the entire power curve when paired with the correct fuel management system and exhaust. The VO2 Naked can be run with the stock cover or dress it up with one of the many available round aftermarket air cleaner covers like the Vance & Hines Skull Cap cover.

Features:

  • Sold 'Naked' so you can put the cover you want on it
  • Includes washable high-flow filter element
  • Includes large-inlet backing plate
  • Includes billet dual port venturi
  • Made in the USA

Note: Photo shown installed with optional Skull Cap which is sold separately.

Love the look and performance gains.
This air cleaner for the bolt really changes the look of the bike. It removes the horrifically ugly plastic air cleaner box and adds the raw look of an open air filter concept. I have mine paired with the Fuel Controller and Competition Slip-on exhaust set up both from V&H. The trio is a great bang for the buck. The performance gains are noticeable in the lower and higher rpm ranges. The sound the air cleaner gives when under a heavy load is throaty and aggressive. I recommend this to anyone looking to add some upgrades and change the overall aesthetics of the bolt in itself. Note: The air cleaner does not come with a center plug and it will have to be provided by the end user if it is not used in conjunction with the V&H Skull Cap.

The bolts they include do not filt
Be prepared to finish the manufacturing process for Vance and Hines; the bolts they include with the product do not fit so will need a tap and die.
How sad, what a total disregard for the product and the customer.

Great Performance
The Naked cleans up the lines on the Bolt and adds performance. With the increased air flow you will need to add a fuel pak.

Great air filter!
Good fit and build. All of the parts are clean and looks well made. Took less than 10 mins to install. Love the clean and simple look. U can hear this thing suck in air while riding. Installed with a v&h fuelpak and cobra slip on exhaust. Bike runs great so far after a few tweaks of the settings.

looks awesome and makes a really cool induction sound
I love the look it gives to my Bolt. Even at an idle, you can hear the air being sucked into the engine. When giving it throttle, it gets even louder and sounds so cool. The shipping was super fast and free. The install was very easy and knocked it out with some basic hand tools in about 15 minutes. I use this air intake with a fuelpak and a slip on exhaust. It is the perfect combination for any bike enthusiasts.

Performance product when paired.
Allows my 2015 Yamaha Bolt to sound and perform great when it is paired with the Vance and Hines twin slash exhaust plus fuelpac.

Great purchase and a great new sound
I bought this because the air box that comes stock on the Yamaha Bolt is too big and caused me to ride splayed out. This new intake lets me hug the bike a little more and sit in a more comfortable riding position. Not to mention that the new sound and throttle reaction that's produced is great. Will definitely be trying other Vance & Hines products in the future.

Quality lacking
Few things to begin with.
1. I had to finish tapping the bolt holes for the mount since Vance and Hines failed to finish their own machining process. After doing research I realized this is a common problem for this intake.
2. You do not need the cap but the intake is ugly without one. Must purchase separately for $80.
3. The cost is pretty good against the competition, however, you may need to spend extra to install it.

Right now waiting to hear from V&H. I tried calling their support line that came with the instructions and didn't get any answer. These issues are a lack of respect for themselves as well as their customers.

Does not come with cover in picture
Works as advertised, you need a fuel controller. I use this in conjunction with a Fuelpak and the V&H Twin Slash.

Only complaint is that is does not come with the "Skullcap" featured in the picture, you have to buy that separately (for almost $40 more!). No thanks, I just painted the filter housing flat black and it probably looks better than the skull cap.

My knee kept bashing on the intake when hitting corners. This gets out of the way and gives it more of a naked look :)

I am looking for more performance and a non factory look on my bolt. Also V &H products deliver what they promise.

Ordered the matte black exhaust so I thought I would keep the brands together and love the way it looks ....

Is is it necessary to have a fuel management part if you use this air filter with a set of aftermarket pipes?
Howard W on Feb 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you definitely need a fuel controller if you have both.
Do you need a fuel controller if you only install the Air Intake Kit and keep the stock exhaust?
A shopper on Nov 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I would definitely go for the fuel controller. I have a V&H Vo2 intake on my 2014 Bolt, along with a Baron's 4" pipe with baffles. I installed a Cobra fuel controller also. It couldn't be any better.Great sound and great low speed smoothness in traffic.Any time you upgrade either intake or exhaust a fuel controller is your best bet.

Do you have to retune your engine after fitting air filter to yamaha bolt?
A shopper on Apr 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Typically you want to run new exhaust and air filters alongside a new ECU controller. This ensures you get the right fuel and air mixture. If you choose to run this air filter without a controller, you will likely see rich or lean fuel mixtures (depending on if you are running stock or modified / aftermarket exhaust). The controllers are expensive but definitely worth it.
Which cleaner and oil should I use when the filter does need to be cleaned?
Jerry l on Mar 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have had k&n on most other vehicles that is a lot like Vance & Hines filter. With this type of filter they generally say a dirty filter isn't a bad thing to some point. believe you can order from Vance and Hines. You may be able to use k&n recharger kit. You may want to check though.
Does it need to be covered when washing the bike to protect it and the engine from water?
A shopper on Jun 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Good practice.
