Put on 2013 Sportster 48 These pipes are sick. The sound is perfect (deep and loud like a harley should sound). Compared to a friend's V&H Short Shots, these sound much better at idle and on the road. Installation was straightforward, except removing the stock pipes. You'll need a lot of WD40, an extra set of hands, and some latex/rubber gloves to keep the sweat off the pipes. Once the stock one came off, installing the V&H Straight Shots was very easy (don't forget to remove the metallic-rubber looking gasket from the stock pipes that go to the crossover bar). Vance and Hines makes quality! The straight shot slip ons gave me the look and sound I was looking for. They were a little raspy and loud with the standard baffles. So I bought the quiet baffles and now it has the deep sound I was looking for. These should come with the quiet baffles standard! But like I said it is a complete quality slip on kit! June 18, 2014
PIPES VERY impressed. What a sound change. Easy to put on, looks good, sounds good, priced good. Well protected packaging, no dents, ding, scratches, nothing. Highly recommend. Great product. June 16, 2014
Absoflippinglutely the best bang for the buck mod to do!! Installation was a snap, had the old off and the new pipes on in under an hour (watch out for the bracket installation - is easy to put them on backwards). Fired it up and loved the sound. I didn't get the baffles, so it loud but that's what i was looking for. I did order the V&H FP3 (i would recommend you get it at the same time as your pipes); you'll want to tune your ride so that you can avoid some decel "pop" that is pretty common with this mod. Awesome.... Easy to install ,put these on my 2013 Softail Slim. Much louder than stock at idle, and when getting into the throttle, but can cruise quietly and ride so ya don't anger the neighbors. Cruising pipes are quiet until ya twist the throttle, then they show their authority. Very happy with the Straightshots. Highly recommend the Straightshots for someone not wanting to do full pipes. Revzilla shipped the quick and transaction was flawless. October 9, 2013
Loud, stylish, and easy on your wallet. I couldn't write a good enough review for these pipes if I tried. These pipes are easy on your wallet, but by no means are they cheap. I noticed an increase in throttle response and the sound is killer. This exhaust maintains every bit of Vance and Hines integrity. They are loud and sharp looking, and easy to install with a basic set of tools and about 45 minutes. As a note, be sure to take caustion when removing your stock mufflers that way you can reuse the gaskets for the crossover pipes. A little WD-40 goes a long way. Also, make sure to fully clean your chrome pipes to free them of any fingerprints or residue before starting your bike (as excited as you may be). This will keep them from staining. August 20, 2013
Improves looks and sound, great value I wanted a better 'Harley' sound for my Heritage and these did it. Good sound, but not too loud. Instructions could have been better. I initially mount the brackets facing backwards. It worked fine but looked funny. This was not clear in the instructions. Would expect better from an American Co. September 2, 2013
Love these pipes. These pipes were very easy to install and now my bike sounds like a real Harley.. Thanks March 11, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Wayne S: Yes you will need either stock headers or an aftermarket header that has a seperate slip on style muffler.
These are not a full exhaust system. These take the place of stock or other mufflers attached by clamps to the header.

Kurt C: I put mine on a Heritage, And yes they would have to go on to the stock pipes. There are grooves inside the slip ons that match up with the grooves on the pipe...hope this helps Feb 18, 2014

Jason B: Following the instructions you "slip off" the original mufflers and these just slide on about 3" of the pipe. You even use the original clamps and mounts. Sound is awesome Mar 16, 2014
