Iron 883 Great sound, awesome look with the flat black finish heat shield, fastest shipping I've ever had and great customer service. July 28, 2014
Worth every penny! Best and lowest price on the internet! Made my Iron look F'ing great! Really happy with the look and sound. It was very easy to install, you just need to have the right tools and the time. Also, I bought the quiet baffles from Revzilla, which gave my bike a nice deep tone, but still loud enough to bring attention. 5 stars for the product and for Revzillas low prices and super fast and free shipping! A shopper asked: I want to install the Vance & Hines shortshots on my 2014 Harley Forty Eight without changing the aircleaner and without using a race tuner. Is this possible? What about my warranty if I only change the exhaust? Opinions? Jun 8, 2014

Eneri A: I just put these pipes on my 2014 iron 883N about a month ago. I did a good amount of research and priced the costs out with HD and others. Overall I was advised (including by Revzilla) that I should add a fuel pack if I was going to do the full exhaust or change the air cleaner. HD was a bit reluctant the recommend the fuel pack...they preferred that I dyno tune the bike with them, but they were charging me over $500 just for that! In total HD was charging me about $1700 for the pipes, tuning, and changing the air filter.

I decided to get the Vance and Hines fp3 fuel pak and did everything myself, including changing the pipes. The tuning took ten minutes. So far I've spent about $700 plus my time.

Overall I've noticed a bit more vibration with my bike at idle. I've also noticed that my bike emits more engine heat than before. I'm thinking that this is because I haven't replaced the air cleaner and still have the stock cleaner on my bike. I'm planning on replacing to a high flow air filter within the next month in hopes of alleviating the extra vibration and heat.

I didn't inquire about the bike warranty, but I'm planing on having HD do a thorough check to make sure all is good once I'm due for my 1k oil change.

Thomas A: I put a set n my son's Bike, He has the 2014 48, I did go with an updated air cleaner, You could save a few dollars by going with a K&N unit to fit in the current box. I did go with the Vance and Hines tuner. Remember, the HD motor is a big air pump, the more air you can get in and out really makes a lot more power, The tuner allow for change in mapping of the ignition and fuel. Go with what you can afford first, Pipes, cleaner then tuner. Just a note, These pipes are load, Very easy to install, Took less than an hour. Jul 16, 2014

Scott M: It's technically possible, however I would replace the air cleaner with a free flow type and do the re-map. I went through this a couple of months ago with my 2014 1200xl custom, I talked to a lot of riders and mechanics I trusted. Pricey but worth it in my opinion. You have too much invested in your bike to take a chance. Hope this helps you to decide. Jul 22, 2014

Jan F: Yes, it is possible. I did it. But only once I also got the Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather and had the bike tuned did the performance of the bike really jumped from the stock 45HP to almost 60HP. Big difference. Otherwise it's only the sound you're getting with the pipes and you may be losing some performance. I don't know about the warranty. Jul 16, 2014

George F: You sure can, that's what I just did! Exhaust only!
You can ride with for a while but I don't recommend to do that forever!
It might cause some backfiring due to increase of back pressure.
It sounds awesome tho and I love it.

sean m: Getting aftermarket pipes don't have anything to do with you're air cleaner and you shouldn't have to get a race tuner, it helps but not needed. It also shouldn't void you're warranty. Jul 17, 2014

Joseph N: No that exhaust is too free flowing and the bike runs lean without a tuner. Jul 16, 2014

A shopper asked: Can I install Vance & Hines Short shots only on my 2014 Harley sportster 48? I mean, without another aircleaner and without a race tuner? What about my factory warranty if I only change the exhaust?

Thx

Nick L: The ONLY thing that will affect your Harley manufacturers warranty is if the damage that occurs is from something YOU change on the bike. So let's say you change the exhaust and there's damage from back pressure being low (that won't and can't happen just using a hypothetical situation) that would be on you. Let's say you change the exhaust and the wiring shorts and blows fuses and your speedo cluster and it's not related. That falls under warranty work.

If the app on here says they specifically fit your 2014 48 I would only use them on that. Just verify what fits and what doesn't.

If I understand what you're saying as far as mixing brand names for exhausts air cleaners and tuners it doesn't matter. You can mix and max whatever you like. Just make sure the tuner you buy can replicate the other specs for different products.

Erik R: I recently out this on my 2014 iron 883. You don't have to get an air cleaner or tune. But if you dont get the tune the exhaust will pop on downshift sometime. I added my tune later when I could afford it. They sound great I love them. Easy install big difference in power. Jun 10, 2014

matthew s: Not sure about the fitment however, I just experienced an exhaust leak and a screw falling out from installing the exhaust myself, I would highly recommend spending the extra dollar to maintain your warranty as well as getting it installed correctly
