Vance Hines Quiet Baffle for Big Shots/Straightshots/Softail Duals Exhausts 4.9 5 9 9
Better sound now This summer, I bought a used Honda VTX 1800C which had Big Shots installed. No baffles. The bike was LOUD, much too loud for my neighborhood when heading to work at 7AM. These baffles have 1> halved the volume at idle and low revs, 2> matured the exhaust note, and 3> seem to have had no affect on acceleration. VERY difficult to install, or maybe it's only middlin' difficult, but the frustration factor is elevated, because it should be a really easy job but ain't. What worked for me was to wrap the whole baffle and fiber sheet in cellophane tape, then soak it down with WD-40. My exhaust stunk and smoked, but a quick freeway ride blew it all out and all's well that ends well. October 28, 2013
This product is a great value. I purchased this product a couple of weeks ago and so far I have been very pleased. It has a good solid sound and won't rattle your brain. I can't say much about the durability but it seems to be working as described. August 26, 2013
loud pipes I have a 2013 softail slim/hd. Stock mufflers were so quiet, when I went for a ride all I heard was my engine.....no pipes. I purchased the V&H 3" slip on mufflers..........super loud. I did not feel comfortable riding by a cop (waiting for the ticket). A lot of back firing. bought the quiet baffles...............still kind of loud and not back firing. went from thunder and lighting to bullets and cannons.........................I'm cool now!! 1 Old Coot July 24, 2013
Quiet Baffles are excellent!! I ride a Vulcan 800 with straight shots, the previous owner removed the baffles that came with them. Let me tell you, OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD!!! I had to roll my bike to blocks from my house to go to work at 5 am otherwise car alarms would go berserk when I rode by. I put these baffles on and they did the job. They keep it down at idle, but I pull on the throttle and it sounds like a BEAST!! Just love them, installed in less than 10 mins. Revzilla is the only website with enough info on them. Deff recommend buying here. March 8, 2013
This quiet baffle has a lower note than the stock baffle This baffle has a lower note than the stock baffle, It is still loud but not too loud. I really like the sound of my bike with these baffles. the only thing that was a little missleading is the picture shows TWO baffles, but they are sold ONE each. Be sure to order TWO (2). Fast-quick-easy! Let's see. What do I need now? Super easy web site. Will definitely used for my next purchase. February 4, 2013
These baffles sound really perfect ! These Vance & HInes "Quiet Baffles" are easy to install once the chrome cover is removed from the exhaust itself (you just need to remove the plastic tape holding the fiber glass sheet, take off the sheet and re-wrap it around the core just tighter and then tape the sides of it real tight, then it gets it very easily). The sound is exactly what I was looking for, a deep meaty rumble that is not obnoxious to the neighbors when you need to take off at 6 in the morning ! Now I am curious to see how long with this fiber glass "cloth" will last. It look flimsy to me and it might not be for someone like me who puts thousands of miles on the bike every year. We'll see and that's why I don't give 5 stars to the product. As to RevZilla, their price for these V&H quiet baffles was the best I found and shipping was not just free but extremely fast ! What's not to like here ??? November 20, 2012
Exactly as described The baffles are exactly as described and perform exactly as expected. They do just what you want them to do. They take just a bit of an edge off, just enough to make you a better neighbor and citizen. You get a great Harley sound without being obnoxious. I also want to give a quick comment on Revzilla. Excellent service. Quick shipping. Well packed. October 1, 2012

Dean W: Both baffles in my exhaust pipes needed replacement. The material that is used to help baffle the sound was deteriorated. It was quite loud, as well. Decided to purchase the quiet baffles because of these reasons. Sep 29, 2013
A shopper asked: Are their 2 baffles for this price, as the picture shows, or do I need to order an extra one for my bike ? (my bike has Duel exhaust) Feb 13, 2013

A shopper asked: Will these fit V&H straight shot slip ons? Nov 18, 2013

David K: Probably -- the fitment says Big Shots, Straightshots & Softtail Duals.
My stock Big Shot baffles are 2" OD x 13" long; the QBs are the same diameter but (If I remember correctly) slightly shorter. Why don't you call V&H cust service & ask them (or make sure Revzilla will take them back if they don't fit)?
The QBs are a little mellower (not as harsh) but not much quieter than stock.

Terry B: yes, they are an exact fit. my bike was too loud even with the supplied baffles in, so i ordered the quiet baffles. they were too quiet, so I drilled out all the holes a few sizes bigger for a compromize. am happy with the sound and power. were a bit restrictive before drilling them out. A shopper asked: Does this baffle fit the stock 2013 Slim pipes without modification? Mar 8, 2014

David K: Don't know for sure. I have Big Shots; just looking at online photos the Slims APPEAR to be the same diameter in the muffler area. V&H and Revzilla should publish actual baffle dimensions...
Stock Big Shot baffles are 2" OD x ~13" long; IIRC the QBs are the same OD (obviously) but a couple of inches shorter.
If your Slim baffles are 2" OD the QBs should work. Check Revzilla's return policy in case.
BTW the QBs are not much quieter than stock baffles. They sound better (deeper, mellower) but still quite loud.

Charlie V: Not sure. I know they fit the standard straight shots and short shots. The baffles should have their outer diameter listed under specifications. I'd compare that with the specs on the slim pipes you're asking about. If it's not listed, I'd contact Revzilla customer service and ask. Apr 5, 2014

A shopper asked: I HAVE A 2006 FLHTCUI WITH BIG SHOT TRUE DUALS. I BOUGHT THE PIPES NEW AND HAD THEM INSTALLED ALONG WITH A FUEL PACK, BREATHER ETC. THE STATE I LIVE IN HAS LOWERED THE ALLOWABLE DB LEVEL AND IT'S A $300 TICKET. MY BIKE IS LOUD AND HAS BEEN SINCE NEW. I WAS THINKING ABOUT QUIET BAFFLES WHEN I REALIZED MY BIKE HAD NO BAFFLES. DID MY PIPES ORIGINALLY COME WITH BAFFLES? ARE THERE MOUNTING HOLES ALREADY THERE FOR THE QUIET BAFFLES? IF NO MOUNTING HOLES EXIST HOW FAR IN DO I PUT THE BAFFLES? Mar 15, 2014

James D: My pipes came with stock baffles that I removed and installed the Vance and Hines quiet baffles that fit perfect Mar 20, 2014

A shopper asked: What are the exact measurements of this baffle? I need to know diameter and length. Not sure why that isn't already in the "fitment details." And, do you have replacement screws available? Thanks! Jan 2, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Randy M: I don't have an answer to your specific question but do know they posed a snug fit when installed in my straight shots. There are 2 things they should suggest for easier installation, however.
First, clean inside pipes with a stiff bottle brush to remove any residue in pipes. Secondly, the fiberglass insulation is too loosely bound to the baffle itself. I used very, very thin gauge crafting wire to wind around insulation and specifically at the end that enters pipe initially.
Not sure on second question. (I think I remember that new screws that fit were 10mm?)
Hope this helps.
