Vance & Hines Competition Series Slip On Muffler For Harley Street

Vance & Hines introduces the Competition Series slip-on muffler in matte black for the Harley Street 750 and 500 models. The angular design of the slip-on captures the minimalist and raw attitude of the Street. Formed in lightweight stainless steel and coated in a high temperature ceramic finish, the Competition Series slip-on also features a machined billet end cap finished in matte chrome. With an aggressive deep tone thanks to its fiberglass wrapped baffle, the slip-on muffler gives the Street the roar of a big twin bike, and also includes a removable insert to adjust the sound level to the rider's preference.

Features:

  • Lightweight stainless steel construction
  • Matte black ceramic plated finish
  • Slip-fit to OEM head-pipe
  • 1 3/4" perforated fiberglass baffle
  • Mounting hardware included
  • Sold each
  • Made in the USA

Vance & Hines Comp Slip On Pipe For HD Street 750
Well, After a long wait the new pipe came today. I have already installed it on my wife's Street 750. Installation time including removing the Screaming Eagle slip on pipe about 15 min. I first started it as out of the box. It sounds about the same as the Screaming Eagle. I removed the whole insert, WAY TO LOUD!!!!! I was just checking it out. So, I removed the little black insert plug. It has a allen scew holding it in. Now it sounds really good. I myself removed the whole insert again and removed Half of the fiberglass packing but leaving the steel wool wrap (Spark Arrest Properties) It is perfect now. Really throaty with a hint of sprint track racer in it. It is the typical good quality of Vance And Hines. It came with a new LONGER heat shield for the catalytic converter. Im impressed. I already had the high flow air cleaner and had my HD dealer do a Stage 1 download. This is a must when adding this pipe. Dyna Jet or Fuel Pak3 is good as well.
I am in California so this is for track purposes only and will always keep my stock and LEGAL in Calif. Screaming Eagle Super TRAPP.

Must Have
This slip on exhaust is a huge improvement over stock. This makes the bike louder, which is a good thing since it is all blacked out. Worth every penny and easy to install. Make sure you have someone to help you, makes it much easier to install.

Awesome sound
I run it with an air intake and flash from the same company-V and H. Works really well. The stock exhaust is pretty anemic, and I ran a straight pipe for a while, but this pipe, with the baffle still in, sounds just right to me. Gives the v twin a nice solid sound, without hurting my ears.

Wow, Just WOW!!
Pretty easy install. Have a set of metric sockets ready, including a 14mm deep socket. I did NOT losoen any of the header bolts as this install instructions say, there was no need. If your gonna do this pipe, you should change out the air cleaner also. Air in / air out! If you are going from stock, you also need a "tune" so the bike won't run even leaner than it does from the factory. I purchased the V&H Fuelpak FP3. When I started the bike after these mods, there was a huge grin on my face. Now I can hear the bike. What a beautiful sound this pipe makes! It's like 10 times as loud as stock. A MUST DO upgrade!

Sounds great! easy to install.
Was looking for the best sounding muffler i could find for my Harley street 750. After reading numerous reviews and watching youtube videos i chose the Vance & HInes. It was easy to install, sounds great and am happy with my purchase. Knocked it down a bit on bang for buck because it's not the cheapest muffler out there.

PERFECT MATCH!
The Street 500 was launched here in New Zealand on February 21, 2015 which was also coincidentally my birthday. I have always dreamed of owning a Harley and no other better time to get one than on my big day - now I am riding one. On the Street Launch Party, I got to ride the demo unit with the stock pipes on. The ride was great but there was something missing, the Authentic Harley Roar was just not there. When I got back to the dealer, I noticed the other demo on the Dyno had the V&H Slip Ons, I tried it and it just blew my mind! The Harley Roar was evident and that was really it for me. Signed the papers and placed my order on the same day! I kid you not - The Vance & Hines Competition Series and the HD Street is truly a match made in heaven!

Just what I wanted
Lemmy's review was spot on. Installation...especially for a newbie...was easy. The bike sounds amazing, and performance wasn't affected at all. It's definitely a high-quality product. Very happy with my purchase!

How much of a difference in sound is there with the V&H exhaust against the original fitted one? Does it make the bike significantly deeper and louder sounding?
A shopper on Jul 26, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I am actually using a vance and hines slip on off a sportster for which I made a bracket to bolt it on the Street 750. This is the same dimentionaly and fiberglass packed as the new pipe being made by V&H I travel for my business and not home to do a video. But will be home next week (Tuesday)
Does anyone know where I can find a video or sound sample of what this would sound like?
Joseph J on Aug 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have not received the product yet. I will post a video as soon as it is installed
Do i need to replace any other stock part with this exhaust? e.g. Air Filter, FuelPak, Spark Plug Wires etc?
A S on Sep 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: While you certainly can replace any of those components, they are not required. This is a simple slip-on exhaust solution, which will really open up the sound of your engine without requiring any other modifications, as well as improve performance somewhat.

For optimal performance, however, you may want to consider adding a less restrictive intake, and getting the bike professionally tuned (such as with the Harley Stage 1 tune from Harley-Davidson). That said, the exhaust alone will make a considerable improvement to the character of the bike with no other modifications necessary.
Is the "db killer" Lemmy mentions in video included or separate purchase?
David T on Aug 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: From what I could tell it comes on it already as I took it off and it sounds much better.
Wait, so if I live in California. I cannot use this on the highway? I am confused.
Ace C on Jan 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: From what I know it's only legal in so many state do to emission regulations and California isn't one of them...
Does this come with a different catalytic converter shield as well? If not, does anyone know where I can find one?
Joshua D on Sep 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Received this today and to answer my own question, it does come with a new sheild. The product picture does display a different shield, but the description does not.
How much HP does it add? Any dyno graph available?
A shopper on Aug 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I am now running the actual V&H Comp slip on pipe on my wife's Street 750, Your not going to get a real boost in H.P. maybe a few. It is more about the sound. The Street 750 is pretty fast on its own. We have the air cleaner and the pipe. As well as a download tune up. The Street 750 will stomp a sportster 883 or even a 1200 in the quarter mile with the right rider. If you look at cycle world Dyno tests the Street 750 is impressive. By the V&H Comp Pipe and a high flow air cleaner . Get a module and or a HD tune up. That's what is out there for the 500/750 for now. I don't see anything huge coming out anytime soon
I have a 2015 xg750 would like to put speed merchant exhaust on but do i need to have the bike retuned do to it being fuel injected?
