Vance & Hines 3" Round Twin Slash Slip On Mufflers For Harley Softail

One of the best ways to quickly and inexpensively customize your Harley is to add a set of slip-on mufflers. With the Twin Slash 3-inch slip-ons, you will get the benefit of increased performance and the bellowing, throaty growl of a Vance & Hines exhaust. In addition to the performance and sound, V&H fashioned a stylish look that's blue proof thanks to full-coverage heat shields over the muffler bodies. Twin Slash slip-ons come with standard louvered core baffles.

Features:

  • 2.5" round muffler bodies shielded by 3" full-coverage heat shields
  • Signature twin-slash end treatment
  • Optional Quiet Baffle and Competition Baffle (sold separately)
  • Sold as a pair
  • Made in the USA

Note: Photos are shown with OEM accessory head pipe heat shields for reference only - shields for the head pipes are not included with the mufflers.

Wow!
I ordered my Vance & Hines 3" slash slip ons Monday and received them Wednesday. I took my stock pipes off my 2015 XL1200c Harley Sportster in 10 minutes. Being new helped! I put the Vance & Hines on in about 25 minutes. Everything lined up perfectly. I used a rubber mallet to put the heavy clamp on the muffler. The bike started first crank and sounded so sweet. Sounded like my stock bike went from adolescents to manhood!

Happy with V&H...but too LOUD.
PROS
1- Bike looks sick with the V&H (in special the chrome tips sticking out)
2- Bike sounds like a Harley (I have to say that because I only owned a few VRODS in the past-never a air cooled)

CONS
1- It is VERY LOUD... it did not just take the "high end note"
2- Some neighbors already complained about the noise!
3- THE WORST INSTALLATION ever on any previous slip-ons I ever installed!
4- The 4 screws that hold the slip-ons on the frame are almost impossible to access by hands with regular tools
5- V&H slip-ons do not have the nut welded to the muffler, so, to put the washer and nut and screw the bolt in place is simply VERY DIFFICULT, close to impossible... (I did it by applying some plumbing silicone to the nut and washer, so they stick together to the inside of the hole in order to have the bolt go in...PAIN...
6- AGAIN...VERY LOUD...I am even curious to know if they really sent me the QUIET BAFFLES...

Sound great. I put the accessory baffles in them from V&Hines and now the have even a more deep Harley rumble. The baffles only reduce the noise by 2-3 dbs but weâ??ll worth it. Takes the slight high pitch away. And you can take them in and out and put the original baffles in anytime you want.

Is there anything else that has to be done , other than just put them on and ride....?

BEST ANSWER: For my bike ('16 Fatboy S), I simply uninstalled the stock mufflers and installed the slip-ons; I didn't need to do anything else. I did not use the Fuelpak (as they suggested) and haven't notice any drop in performance or fuel economy. After a couple of weeks, I did end up purchasing the quieting baffles because I got tired of my ears ringing after longer rides. Even with the baffles, the overall sound and volume is perfect. I would like to offer one bit of advice on the install; don't loosen the exhaust head bolts as suggested, this simply made it more difficult to wiggle the old mufflers off of the head pipes. Do take care not to apply to much pressure on the head pipes because you don't want to break the exhaust head bolts.
