Vance & Hines 3" Round Twin Slash Slip On Mufflers For Harley Davidson Softail

One of the best ways to quickly and inexpensively customize your Harley is to add a set of slip-on mufflers. With the Twin Slash 3-inch slip-ons, you will get the benefit of increased performance and the bellowing, throaty growl of a Vance & Hines exhaust. In addition to the performance and sound, V&H fashioned a stylish look that's blue proof thanks to full-coverage heat shields over the muffler bodies. Twin Slash slip-ons come with standard louvered core baffles.

Features:

  • 2.5" round muffler bodies shielded by 3" full-coverage heat shields
  • Signature twin-slash end treatment
  • Optional Quiet Baffle and Competition Baffle (sold separately)
  • Sold as a pair
  • Made in the USA

Note: Photos are shown with OEM accessory head pipe heat shields for reference only - shields for the head pipes are not included with the mufflers.

Exactly what I hoped for...easy installation too
The sound from these pipes is perfect at idle, rev, accel, and moving. Personally, I like the decel "farts" as they are controllable depending on the amount of throttle given. Truly, you can "learn and deliver" the sound you want.

Installation was fine. Challenges arose mostly during the removal of the stock pipes. A wood 2x2 and light, coaxing taps with a hammer got them moving. Maybe some WD40 helped loosened up the really stubborn contacts.

It all fits, tightly, but patience is your ally.

Last note...after a few hundred miles, recheck all the screws and bolts as the vibration will loosen them.

Ride On!

Surprising gains!
A little reporting... (150+ miles) ride in today with the pipes... some highway, backroad, up and down hills, curves, straightaways, etc... These pipes are impressing me for slip-ons... better throttle response, great sound, and just checked my mpg... improved form 38.5 to 43.7 mpg in similar riding conditions. I just got these as a cheap and easy option, but man... they are alright! Now just waiting on the FP3 to tune out the popping on deceleration and we'll see if they perform even better...?

Great Slip-on's
I bought these for my new Heritage Soft Tail. Install was a bit of a pain. It took about 2.5 hrs and two people. The instructions were detailed enough but they called for loosening the two head pipes. That proved to be unnecessary and made removing the stock mufflers more difficult due to the fact that the head pipe wiggled around. Once I tightened the head pipes back up, I was able to eventually wiggle the stock mufflers off.

The Vance & Hines pipes actually slid right on and bolted right up.

Then the start up. Wow! These things are loud! I leave for work at 6:30 am. I start the bike and immediately roll out of the hood so I don't piss off the neighbors. After that, I don't care. I love the loud noise and I can actually see people in their cars turn their heads and look at me. Loud pipes save lives.

I haven't ridden anywhere significant to prove it, but there does seem to be a performance upgrade also.

These are well worth the money!

2 steps to just what I was looking for.
I was looking for just a little more volume than the stock mufflers on my 2012 Heritage. Ordered these expecting I might be back for the quiet baffles which I ordered a week later! The combination gave me just what I was looking for--nice low rumble so the bike sounds like a Harley should. Install was about an hour and a half for the slip ons and 30 minutes to put the baffles in. It would have been easier to install the baffles first but wasn't sure I would need them.

...oh yeah!
...I repeat, ...oh yeah! I love these pipes. I couldn't believe how substantially louder these mufflers made my bike. I actually hate to use the word "mufflers" as it sounds like a misnomer! I was a little hesitant about the possible noise levels it might create. I read a few reviews that said the neighbors weren't too happy and they wound up buying the inserts to "quiet it down" a bit. ...well, ...f*** my neighbors! I never liked them anyway! and if they can't appreciate that beefy sound, they're no friends of mine! Seriously, it did increase the sound of my 2016 Breakout in a great way. So much so that I scared the crap outta the dog when I fired it up for the first time. But I'm noticing that the overall volume has lessened after about a months worth of riding. I'm guessing that the "guts" of the mufflers have expanded inside and are now quieting them down just a tad. ...either that or my hearing's wearing down from riding it as often as I do! If you pick up these bad boys, ride around for about a month of regular riding before deciding to buy the additional baffles. You may find that you really don't need them. I'm only extra loud when I accelerate or roll the throttle in neutral for attention. ..and, buddy, I get it. On a more constructive side, as well, I do have to get a tuner for the engine. After putting them on I noticed that it runs a little richer/leaner because the exhaust is a little more obvious in terms of smell. The bike tends to "pop" a little more too on deceleration. You'll notice when you get the pipes out of the box that you can see through them from one opening to the other, compared to the stock ones where you can't. Obviously, there isn't the same amount of exhaust restriction as there was on the original mufflers. This means less back pressure and, consequently, the engine runs differently. So there ya go. I love these friggin' slip ons!!!!

Great Sound with quiet baffles
These pipes with the quiet baffles installed is the sound I've been looking for. Has a bite during acceleration and quiets down to a mellow cruising sound at steady RPMs.

Do you have Vance & Hines 3in Round Twin Slash Slip-On Mufflers
in Matte Black?
A shopper on Jun 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, I have chrome. But besides color preference the slip ons sound great. Especially after I installed the competitions baffles. Very nice, deep n loud.
Do I need FUELPAK to instal on My Heritage Softail 2016 for this muffler ?
A C on Sep 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No fuelpak required. Check fitment of muffler for your bike. Slip off old muffler and slip on new. Easy install and sounds great.
Ok, so I'm guessing that the quiet baffle is self explanatory. But how does the competition baffle change the sound of the exhaust? Do they make it louder? ...deeper? ...how?
A C on Oct 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If the "competition" baffle is standard for the twin slash slip-ons, they are loud and sharp. For louder but deeper I think the Big Shots would do nicely. ??
how close do they sit next to your bags?
Richard H on Jun 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The sit no different than the stock pipes. Easy to install. They are pretty loud. Sound good.
do i need to buy the quit or competition baffle with this muffler or its optional ?
Mansour A on Jan 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: THe V&H Twin Slash mufflers cime with standard baffles. The quiet or competition are optional.
