TecMate OptiMate 3+ Battery Charger and Maintainer

The TecMate OptiMate 3 Plus desulfater-charger-maintainer is recommended for STD (with removable filler caps), sealed AGM (absorbed glass mat) & sealed GEL 12V lead-acid batteries from 2Ah to 45Ah. It can also maintain larger batteries (it will just take longer to charge). The OptiMate 3 +will safely maintain the battery at 100%, never overcharging, thanks to its unique 30 min charge, 30 min rest cycle during every hour of long term maintenance charge. If the battery’s resistance is abnormally high due to sulfation, a voltage of up to 20V is automatically applied to overcome this to recover very flat or neglected batteries (when disconnected from the vehicle).

Solid Performance Over Very Long Winters I live in Madison, WI and purchased this to keep the battery on my BMW K1200RS healthy over our long winters. I've used this model for two winters and this one has been the third and the worst one yet. (Winters here can last from late October through March so for almost a ½ year!) My bike has started on the first attempt at the beginning of spring each time so I highly recommend this product! March 31, 2014
Great product for the price Triumph sells an Optimate plug, so I suppose they recommend it over other battery tenders. The Optimate came with a pigtail that attaches to the battery, so I'm going to use that. I've been using mine for about a month, and it works as advertised. Even though I've been chasing a short (turned out to be in the alternator) that takes the battery down to 10.5V instantly, the Optimate charges it back up to float charge by the next day. Will be great... If it does what it claims, I currently have it connected to a new motorcycle/battery, but plan to keep it attached over the winter and possibly go weeks without starting. December 2, 2013
Saves your battery I bought this charger to save my battery during winter months. The OptiMate literally pays for itself by saving your battery from unhealthy discharges during winter. All you have to do is plug it on your motorcycle, plug the other end in the wall and it does all its fancy stuff on its own. As a side note. I had my R6 under a cover for 3 months with this plugged in and when I turned the key and pressed on the ignition it started just as if I had used it the day before. February 3, 2013

Mark G: I use the Optimate to charge my Bonneville T100. It works well. You can use aligator clips but I use the quick connect adaptor option that mounts to the battery terminals and the terminal end is a quck connect plug which is easy to disconnect and connect. Jan 6, 2014

Peter T: I don't know much of anything about Triumphs but there s/b no concerns that I am aware of as the Optimate comes with a variety of fittings. Just install the pigtails onto the battery and you are done. hope this helps. Jan 6, 2014

Philip W: It comes with a variety of cables one of which connects permanently to your battery and allows you to plug the optimate in very easily. This is the solution I use on my Triumph Explorer and it works perfectly. Jan 7, 2014

Pamela H: It uses a 2 prong polarized plug for 120 VAC, so you'd need an adapter for a US style outlet if you're not in North America. Jan 27, 2014

Jalal A: I believe you would need an SAE type socket.

However I usually take the battery out
