Adhesive is a big problem on the Snake Skin model The reviews on the Snake Skin pads are spot on when they said bad adhesive. I thought maybe the ones before were exaggerating but it's true. At first it didn't make sense that the 2 lower ones had good reviews but this top of the line ones were bad. I thought they were just nitpicking on the price. Nope. Problem is the Snake Skin pad is really thick. The rubber does flex but with such a thick pad, it naturally wants to straighten. With a thinner pad, the adhesive would be fine, but with a thicker bad you NEED stronger adhesive because the pad itself will want to lift back up from a curve. This means the center pad will be the worst as the surface area is smaller for adhesion. The side ones may fair a little better since there is a larger surface area to stick but YMMV depending on the curve of the side of your tank. Basically the edges over time will lift on their own. What makes this worst is that because the edges lift, dust, hairs and other random stuff with start sticking and making it worst. It's gotten that my routine when beginning a ride is to press down on all the lifted edges... then after I get off... again press down on all the lifted edges. I am debating whether to get some spray on adhesive.. or just rip them off and get something thinner (and cheaper). June 3, 2015
OVERPRICED-POOR QUALITY ADHESIVE ON RIGHT-SIDE PIECE - OLD or BAD STOCK? I was happy to receive this purchase but the price is steep for what I received. I installed the center and left tank pieces without issue. On the third piece (right tank side) I began to delicately peel the white paper from the product and the adhesive layer came off with ease (not good). The side that applies to the tank has tack. The side that connects with the pad itself has ZERO tack...nada. It took almost 3 hours of heating each corner adhesive just to get it to make a connection with the pad again. For the money I paid, I should never had to go thru heating it to put it back together. After removing the entire white backing, I discovered most of the center mass of the adhesive was separated from the pad. I had only heated the corners that separated. I have no doubt it was either old or bad. I will have to wait to see if it holds (and for how long) to know which. May 4, 2015
Good product Installation was ok. One of the pads had bad adhesive, which I fixed by adding so adhesive during install. Other than that, they work as advertised. Better grip when riding and you squeeze the tank. August 18, 2014
works great but lacking adhesive Product works great at what it does. However, the adhesive collects dust and dirt easily and then starts to peel up. August 4, 2014
