Stompgrip Tank Pad Yamaha R6 2006-2007
Looks great, easy install, feels good, but not with jeans.
I got this hoping I wouldn't have to grip the tank so hard on my way to work every day since my back was starting to hurt.
Unfortunately, these don't really work with jeans. Now my jeans stick to the stopgrip like glue, but my legs just slide around inside my jeans. I guess it's better, but I still have to grip pretty hard to stay put.
With my leathers, though, these things shine. I stay put and I can relax my grip on the tank without slipping around.
Install was easy as pie, as long as you follow the instructions, and USE ALCOHOL on your mounting surface before you stick them on, it will wipe away all the oil and wax that can cause these things to peel off.

Best Grip your legs can get!
I have tried a cheaper version of the stomp pad, and I have also tried to more material-like types of tank pads offering superior grip. The material pads on the sides of the tank offered less grip than the actual tank did, in my experience. The less expensive version of the stomp grip came apart after 3 months, and the grip was only marginally improved over the gas tank. The stompgrip is the best I have found for protecting the side of the tank from scratches, and also providing superior grip for your suit / clothes while at lean. It just holds your leather suit really well, and this gives you more confidence in your footing and better feel on the bike. Everyone knows that more confidence in the bike, more comfortability, leads to better riding and faster times. I do wish that they offered something a bit more grippy, to the likes of the pads you see on motoGP bikes. Instead of round nodules, maybe make them a bit more pointy / sharp, like little pyramids. Definitely recommend for anyone that is going on long rides on their sport bike, this will save your jewels from smashing the tank every time you let go of the throttle and the engine deceleration thrusts your forward. This paired with compression pants or specialized bike-riding compression underwear is a life saver.

Always a great product, although a bit odd on the R6
I've used stomp grips on all of my sport bikes so when I bought a track R6 with tech spec, the first order of business was to replace it with the stomp. Unfortunately the shape was weird and wouldn't sit correctly on the tank. I had to cut the larger piece in half in order to correctly fit the contour of the tank. I've never had this problem with other versions.
2nd complaint is that the lower piece of the grip seems unnecessarily small. You should be able to cover much more of the tank and get a better hold of it with your legs. Why so little grip for the R6 Stomp?

Have always liked StompGrip
Revzilla was great to have what i wanted in stock and shipped promptly. I do wish this cut set extended farther forward as I have long legs. However, it does the job.
Thanks StompGrip and Revzilla!

Cheapest way to improve your riding skills
Hands down, this is the cheapest way to improve your riding ability!
Install was only difficult because my R6's metal gas tank was super cold from the 0 degree weather we've had in Chicago. No matter, I took off the tank, brought it inside and heated both the grip and tank with a hair dryer.
Why does this help you?
1. Getting your weight off the bars and onto the stable part of your bike. Less weight on the bars = looser on the bars = less input to the bars = bike can become more stable = more confidence for you. While hard braking you're able to squeeze with your legs and stop sliding up against the tank.
2. Comfort. Using more of your legs to support you, you can take a lot of weight off your wrists letting you ride more comfortably without the cramping or wrist pain.
3. Corner carving/ knee dragging. This can help your outside leg have something to grip onto.
Are the bumps hard? I ride in kevlar jeans and I literally cannot feel them. I can only tell that I'm gripping onto something. There doesn't seem to be any additional wear on the pants.
Definitely a great investment. My brother has TechSpecs and his are slightly more comfortable but I've got more grip.

Best cheap mod, hands down.
This is my second set of Stomp Grips (wreck and rebuild). You can not add a mod that delivers this much performance increase of any kind for this price. It doesn't make your machine go faster -it allows YOU to perform better, via added control of your machine. If you have never experienced the added comfort and bodily grip of using these then you are missing out on a much better and intimate motorcycling experience.

Stompgrip tank pad
These pads were really easy to put on once i figured out which way to position them. The clear pads don't take away from the richness of the bikes color and are not noticeable from a distance. When riding you can definitely tell a difference in handling when turning corners and has helped me a lot when breaking hard not to slide up the seat and bang against the take. These pads are definitely worth the price and do everything they are meant to.

Easy to apply as long as the tank is clean and you take your time. The instructions suggest to heat the pads with a hair dryer before applying. I highly recommend doing this as it makes it much easier to form the pad to the contours of the tank.
Once on, they work exactly as advertised. It's so much easier to now hold my place on the bike with my legs. It's taken a lot of the pressure off my arms and a don't slam into the tank when I hit the brakes hard.
