Spidi Carbo-3 Gloves

The Spidi Carbo 3 is one of the most advanced Spidi racing gloves. The carbon knuckle with raised profiles represents a development for Spidi gloves as it improves shock absorbing factor, helps the hand slide in case of a crash, limiting the risk of potentially dangerous leverages against the asphalt, and improves aerodynamics.

Features:

  • Hi-Fit full grain cowhide
  • Padding on palm, side and back of hand
  • Double fastening at cuff
  • Wrist strap
  • Keramide padding
  • Triple layers over side of small finger
  • Grip palm

Nice Gloves / Decent Value/ Good Protection
It's been nearly 10 years since I purchased a new pair of gloves. I shopped/looked everywhere.
Finalists were: dainese, alpinestars, and Spidi.
The difference was RevZIlla online video reviews of the gloves I narrowed-down to my final choices, where I PURCHASED them. Good job guys! You made my choice easier, and I rewarded you for your work! ;-)

I first Purchased a pr. of Spidi Race Vents and returned them, due to lack of protection and thin leather -- just didn't feel confident in the protection they provided.
Chose the Carbo3's as replacement in XL: these were so tight that i could barely get my knuckles through the opening (yes, the wrist closure was WIDE-open!) so I returned them for an XXL which is a first for me!
My hands measure 9.5" across the knuckles, and would be an XL in any euro size. The XXL is a little too big (pinky 1/2" too long) but fits way better than the XL. Still a comfortable glove. I have to wonder if maybe the XL would have stretched a bit, and also why the Race Vents fit in XL and the Carbo3's did not?!?!
Be CAREFUL to order one size UP when buying these, and perhaps even two! I don't have LARGE hands, simply average. Maybe there was a manuf./quality control issue?? dunno.
The leather is awesomely soft, and should provide a very decent amt of protection for my street-only riding style.
Very disappointed with the amnt of air these(don't) flow; the slight perforations in the fingers and back of the hand are a complete waste. I was hoping for a VENTED glove, but you apparently can't buy a protective version and expect any kind of airflow. Mpf - i'd rather have the protection!
Overall a very nice glove, albeit a tad pricey, which I don't mind. The leather is supple, well stitched/constructed, and should last me a long long time! The look is tasteful and appealing, unlike many other brands that are just too flashy and for the Stuntah Crowd.

I rated the gloves slightly large, due to having to jump one size (XXL) from my normal, and the sizing guide provided by Spidi. Obviously, if you go with SPidi's sizing, you would classify their scale as slightly SMALLer than advertised. Be guided accordingly.

RevZilla was awesome and very generous about swapping my mis-sized purchase on the 2nd go-round!
Thanks guys!
I WILL buy from you again.

Nice gloves
These gloves are very snug and take a while to break in, but once you have worn them for a while they are extremely comfortable. The leather is super soft and almost feels delicate. These are very well made gloves and I can see no durability issues. They give you a very nice feel of the controls. The carbon fiber looks nice but I do not really want to see how it holds up in a crash. they are NOT warm gloves. in winter your hands will be cold. overall very nice gloves. I am impressed by Spidi.

Amazing Glove
This glove was fantastic right away and only got better and better as it broke in. It looks amazing and the leather is so nice i feel like the glove should be made inside out. I road from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Key West, FL to break these in and thats all it took.
I normally wear an XL in most glove sizes and got the 2XL and they fit perfectly.

Great gauntlet style race gloves.
ORDER ONE SIZE UP.

I took the advice of other reviewers and ordered an XL over the Large I expected I'd need. So glad. They aren't overly tight or loose. They are pretty comfortable out of the box, which is unusual for more race style gloves.

After a few hot rides in SoCal I found they were working just fine. Most gloves like this, when combined with a sportbike have some pinch points that can give you dead hands after 100 miles or so. These didn't do that.

They have enough protection, and I doubt they'd have any issue in a 100mph+ fall. The velcro closures are secure, and seem to hold the glove in place well. Just be sure not to over tighten the small wrist strap or else you'll find yourself with some cramping / dead hands later.

Good Value, Race Styling...
Great styling, comfortable fit, and true to size. The only issue that I had was that 2 of my left knuckles got scraped up a bit from two consecutive days of break-in wear (about 4 hours riding total). I suspect this should go away once they are fully broken in. Protection-wise, I think Spidi could've added a little more wrist padding/ armor and maybe a little more pinky protection. At $200, these are a very respectable pair of great looking & comfortable race gauntlet gloves. But, my $250 Knox Handroids were much easier to break in and offer far much better hand protection. Still I like them both and will wear both.

Just the look and protection i was looking for!
I originally purchased these gloves becuase i was in the market for a race glove i could use on some track days. Then when i had seen the green, white, red color scheme it was a must have to match my 899 panigale!. After watching the detailed breakdown i was hooked. The quality of the leather is fantastic. As they are brand new the fit is quite snug still and is hard to get on and off..i have never owned a spidi product but im 5'9 athletic build 170lbs. Anthony says he was an xl so thats what i figured i would be. After the 10% break in im assuming all will go smooth. But as for now it is a little difficult to reach clutch and brake levers. But when the glove is on and secured it feels fantastic with no pinching anywhere, i csnnot feel stiches anywhere. Overall im very happy with the design, color and protection and hoping the fit will relax a bit more!

Over all good product
I bought this product thinking it was going to have amazing protection for the rider, and this being my first set of gloves I had set my expectations really high, but when I received them i was happy with the look and feel of the glove, BUT I had many questions about the discription of the glove, like the three layers of leather on the pinky finger. I had originally thought that it was going to be 1/2 an inch thick or that it would have had more padding, but again my expectations were to high. The over all protection of the glove is great, I love how the protection on the knuckles move with the movements of your hand, and the added padding on the front of the hand, the comfort of the glove is really good, I DON'T think I'll move to a different glove after this one. My only negative take on this glove is the protection on the pinky finger and how soft the leather feels on the underside of the pointer, middle, and ring fingers. In a crash to me it would be the first thing to go. Other than that it's a very comfertable glove with great features, and again this is my first set of gloves so don't let my reaction to it sway you away from purchasing these.

I would most definitely recommend this product

I tried to update my review, but Revzilla's site wouldn't allow it. After wearing the Spidi Carbo 3 gloves for about a month now, I can say that the inner lining on these things are basically like sandpaper... I have 4 blisters- now scabs turning into scars- on 2 knuckles on each hand, and even after break-in they still rub after riding. The odd thing is that they do fit comfortably and I do have the correct size glove. So, the problem is 100% the abrasive inner lining. I've been using band-aids to cover my knuckles before putting them on. And, that's helped. I'm probably going to pickup a roll of gauze to wrap my knuckles. But, it is extremely disappointing that a company like Spidi cannot even make a decent race gauntlet at the $200 price point. Sigh.
A shopper on Jul 9, 2012
BEST ANSWER: My apologies for this follow-up being long overdue... Shortly after my post. Revzilla contacted me by phone to inquire about the knuckle abrasion problem I'd been having with with the new Carbo-3 gloves. I explained that the gloves fit comfortably, but my left hand, middle knuckles kept getting chaffed & blistered by the inside of the glove- even after break-in. So, I would wear band aids over my left knuckles before putting them on, and this solved my problem. Revzilla said they contacted Spidi to see if there were any known defects in this batch, but they didn't get any conformation or useful response. So, as a consolation, they gave me $50 store credit to make up for this minor inconvenience. Just wanted to say that I'm very impressed with the extra follow-up Revzilla extended to me for this purchase. And, they care about their customers and try to make sure the products they sell go the extra mile. I'll be shopping here again for sure. Cheers! ~ Detrich
Hi,
reading on this glove I notice that you are the only one's I have read that mention the: " H2OUT waterproof, breathable membrane "

Can you explain please ?

It is a selling point for me, maybe there are 2 models ? only thing of concern for me is how it impacts the feel of the controls ?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2011
BEST ANSWER: There is a lining in the glove that keeps your hands from getting wet.
It's breathable, so when your hands get warm your sweat can wick away.
That said, if it's warm enough to where normal leather riding gloves
comfortably, you're gonna sweat in these.

The lining is waterproof, but the gloves are not. The exterior is a mix
of leather and fabric and it will get wet.

All the winter gloves that I tried on are bulkier than normal riding gloves.
You're gonna trade a little bit of bulk and feeling for the insulation. That
said, I was still able to work the vents and visor levers on my helmet by
feel and I had no problems with clutch/throttle/brakes.
I'll make it simpler.

How come most other sellers do not mention the H2OUT waterproof for this glove ?

I may have seen it on one other seller and that's it.

what's up with that ?

So I'm really wondering if this glove truly has a waterproof membrane.

Thanks.
A shopper on Nov 23, 2011
BEST ANSWER: This glove is not a waterproof glove and is not equipped with the H2OUT membrane. This is a summer weight, non-lined race glove.
