Speed and Strength SS1700 Lock And Load Modular Helmet
Really nice Helmet
I've only used it a couple of times but so far very happy with it. It has a good field of vision and the shade works great.

Great helmet for the price.
I have a friend that owned this helmet in black and really liked the features. modular face, drop down shaded lens. Fit was awesome very comfortable for long rides. Noise level is a bit high but I usually listen to music through ear buds any way so no big problem for me. Air flow is moderate being bald helps the cooling factor. I recently bought a dual sport helmet but keep coming back to this helmet to ride.

New Rider, Great First Helmet
Since I am new rider I have not tried other Helmets, the evaluation that video really intrigued me especially the Drop Down Visor feature, since I wear glasses I did not want to have to wear my polarized glasses while riding. I choose this based on price to features and have been very happy with the purchase. The extra large size fits head perfectly. I have a more experience rider look it and he says this excellent choice. once i get some riding time in i will add this eval.

Put a lot of miles on this helmet. It it's a little noisy but not to bad. It fits just as it is supposed to. The inner visor does a good job but does have a bit of a gap at the bottom edge. Overall I think it's an excellent helmet and definitely recommend.

I love this helmet. All the features are great. the glow in dark stripping gets a lot of attention. The only problem it is a little narrow for my head. When in full face position it can get a little tight, but it is nothing I can't deal with. Over all it is a great helmet.

Great for price $$$
Ear indents should be deeper, for a better fitment of headset speaker mics'!!!

so close, but a few areas for improvement.
I was looking for my first new helmet, i had previously only had low grade hand me downs so i thought i would do my research.
I was looking for a modular helmet with a
good air flow
and affordable, and the ss1700 seemed to check all the boxes.
upon arrival the small i got did fit nice and snug on my head.
it feels a bit cheap and plasticky but hey you get what you pay for.
I've had the helmet for about 6 months now and these are what I've picked up from everyday use commuting and some touring.
it glows in the dark :O
The Drop visor is a good shade and sits a good way down in your helmet, but the mechanism is pretty stupid, the switch it uses has to be pushed down at the right speed or it will not lock into place and sometimes the DVD will start to sag slightly when not in use and i will nudge it back. Also the mechanism lets a lot of whistling air in on the left side, on short commutes it's not that bad but does get annoying so i now listen to headphones more often to cancel it out. i feel this could have easily been fixed in production..
the visor doesn't crack open which is a bit annoying and also fogs a bit.
D rings for doing the helmet up are also dumb, so i bought a clip.
I have had the helmet for 6 months and i ride everyday all 4 seasons, already looking to upgrade to the ScorpionEXO-GT920 which is only 20$ more and looks to be a much better helmet.
TL;DR it's okay, but there are better modulers out there for around the same $

My past helmets are motocross and Fly Racing Trekker Helmet. This has much better build quality than any of those I've had in the past. Compared to those helmets it is super quiet (with chin skirt) you do get wind noise I mean you are on a motorcycle. I've now had this helmet for over 2 months and ride everyday. With the modular bit up and face open it feels top heavy sitting here at my desk and get tiring after while, but with the wind pressure while on my bike I can ride a long time with it open.
My favorite helmet so far.
- Chin skirt is awesome (get in the way of boom mic for sena)
- DVD is great! (cant use Sena clamp or cripples DVD system)
- Really does glow in dark
- Soft pads
- Modular functions flawlessly
- Pretty warm helmet all closed up
- Top air vent really catches some air feels good
- Front air vent seemingly does nothing. (need to crack windscreen to prevent fog.
- Speaker divots are a joke. Scraped mine deeper otherwise ear pain. Plastic prevents you from getting them in the perfect spot.
If they come out with a pinlock for this helmet I would probably change the rating to 5 stars despite the joke for speakers.
