Speed and Strength Urge Overkill Jacket 4.7 5 23 23
Fall Riding on the North Island When it turns to fall on Northern Vancouver Island it does so in not a half way. This jacket is the perfect solution. With my heated liner I ride the three hour commute on Sunday night staying dry, warm, and visible thanks to my first hi-vis jacket. The Speed and Strength Urge Overkill is the perfect jacket to make my riding season just a little longer! November 2, 2015
Great deal for cooler weather jacket I bought this jacket on sale at a great discount, hence the great deal. Still, I think it is a great jacket at retail. The details are well sorted, seams, zippers, velcro, all seem to be of good quality. The sleeves are my only complaint (not a big one), as they are a little short in riding position. Right sleeve pocket, near wrist is a nice touch and very practical. Vents are functional, front and back, but this isn't a hot weather jacket by any means -even with the liner removed. It would be nice if the backside vent zippers were reachable without having to remove the jacket. Minor issue though. Liner sleeves get bunched up when putting on the jacket, this is probably a complaint with most liners though, unless you are wearing short sleeves. The liner is easily removed and the sleeves can be adjusted to take up the slack. Pocket and vent zippers are protected from rain and are ample and easy to get into. The hood is irrelevant, I simply removed it. There is a cord to adjust your waist and the excess is neatly held in place. I wish it had more fleece, or other soft material, at the neck closure. The cut is for a straight to slightly aggressive riding position, it bunches up in the front a bit, but your behind is well protected from the elements. Shoulder, elbow and back protection seem of good quality and can be easily upgraded. Overall, a great jacket for fall through spring. October 26, 2015
Great product Excellent coat. I've worn it in Seattle weather where conditions change dramatically mid-ride. Even with all seasons packed into one day, this jacket did not disappoint. The armor is also surprisingly comfortable and does not feel like I've inserted a George Foreman Grill into the shoulders and back. I recommend this jacket. September 21, 2015
Overall, a nice jacket. I wanted a jacket that was hi-viz, stylish, and protective. This jacket satisfied all my needs. I selected the orange and I am very happy. The other colors made it difficult to choose. I weigh about 160 and I am less than 6'. The medium fits perfect. The videos were very helpful. I hope to where this jacket for many years! Thanks revzilla, July 22, 2015
WOW. This is the definition of bang for the buck! None of the videos do it justice. This is some high quality textile with all the bells and whistles of a much more expensive jacket at a very affordable price. Pros: Very high quality for the price. Looks nice and professional. Comes with armor (again, the low price for what you get is incredible. Very comfortable. Cons: Runs a little small for the measurements listed. I will probably never use the included hood so I wish you could hide the zipper used to attach it. I highly recommend this jacket. I bought the orange and it's a very tasteful color with the benefits of hi-vis. I love it. July 16, 2015
Great value jacket This jacket excels in all 3 seasons except summer. Ive rode with this jacket when its been 20 degrees and as long as you layer or put a hoodie on underneath you are toasty. Its waterproof and has never leaked. Flows air pretty well for what it is and has some pockets to put a phone or wallet in. If you take the liner out of the jacket it will be comfortable to about 75 degrees anymore than that you must be moving. I took a spill at 20 mph on gravel and the jacket held up well no rips or tears. June 8, 2015
Great jacket! I recently purchased my first motorcycle and wanted a jacket that i could use all year here in san diego. This jacket seems great so far and is very well made. I normally wear large jackets, but got a medium and it fits me perfect. Im 5' 11" and 175 lbs. April 24, 2015
Great product for the price This jacket protects well and doubles as your rain gear. It does get a little warm but when your on the open road you stay cool. April 20, 2015

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
William G: Great value, construction and design. Oct 9, 2015
Charles B: I usually make purchases based on real ratings, and Revzilla always provides real rider ratings. Considering how many people love this jacket, I think it's the best choice for my ride through South America from New York in the winter. Sep 4, 2015
H E: A good balance between hi-vis and casual. CE elbow, shoulder, and spine guards also helped sway my decision; along with Revzilla's awesome video reviews! Thanks. Aug 25, 2015
Rick G: After looking at all the Hi-viz textile 3-4 season jackets, I chose this one because it has a clean look- not bulky! Also, I like all the color options. Lastly, I really like the thin moisture-wicking liner. I can still wear another thin layer with this jacket and feel comfortable! The videos were a tremendous help!

A shopper asked: How abrasion resistant is the AR600 fabric Speed and Strength use in these jackets? I can't find any info on it online except for a really general answer about it having a special coating which increases its abrasion resistance to some degree. Oct 11, 2014

A shopper asked: How well is the ventilation of this jacket? I live in Houston, TX and I'm looking at it for the daily afternoon showers during the summer, but don't want to overheat riding in 95F+ temperatures. Jul 10, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Zach V: I'm around San Antonio Texas, wear it every day on my supermoto to work. Ventilation is not the best, but it's a trade off for ha ing waterproof. If you wear a back pack the straps might block the front vents so keep that in mind. Don't get me wrong, it flows air, but it's definitely not built around a "cool" jacket standpoint. Jul 10, 2014

Carlos O: I will say that you will overheat, with this jacket at those temperatures. Jul 10, 2014

Randy N: I've been using this jacket as my primary riding jacket for a little less than a year. The majority of my riding is in the humid / warmer / summer months here in Pittsburgh, PA. My overall experience with this jacket has been good. Ventilation works well enough when moving although it does get a bit clammy on my stop & go commute in and around the city. It is my understanding that the removable grey / silver lining that is included with the jacket is actually intended to be a moisture wicking / cooling liner. I do wear the jacket with the liner in the warmer months but I'm not entirely convinced of it's effectiveness. If it were in my budget I would buy a more well ventilated jacket for warmer / summer riding and reserve this jacket for cooler / spring & fall riding. Jul 11, 2014

Stephen T: I have the camo version.
The jacket has vent zips front and back but the material is otherwise windproof and impermeable to water.

More a colder weather jacket (65'ish and lower).
It does an excellent job of keeping me comfortable to near freezing (especially with a heated vest when temps get very low).

I don't wear it in summer months as I'd think it would be hot and uncomfortable. It's not a mesh jacket. I wear a TecNic mesh jacket in temps of 65 and up.
95F? - phew! I don't think you'll be happy at that temp.

Maybe get a mesh jacket with a removable rain liner?
Or carry something like a Frog Togs easy-on/off outer to beat the showers?

Mike P: The ventilation isn't too bad. Once you take the liner out its a pretty lightweight and airy jacket. It definitely breathes better than my dainese leather jacket. As far as rain goes, anything I've worn under my jacket has stayed dry when I reached my destination. Hope this helps. Jul 11, 2014

aqueel s: I ride in Atlanta with this jacket weekly. It has long vertical zipper vents in front and back that work decent. But you will sweat on your shirt. The hood zipper attachment is visible on the collar when you remove the hood. Jul 11, 2014

A shopper asked: I'm considering this Urge jacket......does it have a two way front zipper......that is a must have for me....!!! Is there an overpant that goes with this jacket...?? I believe Anthony said the "Urge" pants were "NOT" overpants...?? Thanks Dec 4, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Joey B: If by 'two way front zipper', you mean that the zipper tab can engage either from the bottom or the top of the zipper the answer is no. It only engages from the bottom.

I've worn this jacket (with liner) in hi-30 lo-40 degree temps on my commute to/from work of 40 miles and stayed fairly comfortable. Anything longer you'd need to layer-up or wear heated gear. I've done the latter, and been very happy with the jacket.

The Urge pants are just that...pants. They are not 'over-pants'.

Overall, this is a great jacket. Being retired military, I have the camo, so it looks awesome on top of being functional. Tons of adjustments for a perfect fit and zippered vents when things start to warm up.

Being a California rider, this is practically a 4-season jacket for me.

The only minor complaint I have is that when you have the jacket all zipped up AND the collar velcro'd down, it can irritate your neck in the area of the Adam's apple. I remedy this either with a neck warmer or scarf. Not a huge issue or deal breaker for me.

I hope this helps....Ride Safe!

Juan O asked: Hello! My question is: does this jacket have connecting zippers to engage with pants? May 23, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Justin D: This jacket does NOT have any zippers to connect to pants. The jacket does have some extra length to it though, and provides great coverage down your back/butt. May 25, 2015

hamish c asked: I am looking for a jacket to fit over the top of my race leathers for cold weather riding, will the "urge overkill" fit over a set of leathers? Oct 27, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Scott W: I am 5' 9'' and 150 lbs and have the men's size Small. It fits perfectly and has room for a light layer underneath. I normally wear a 32" sleeve and the sleeves fit perfectly. I followed the sizing chart provided by Speed and Strength and it seems right on the money. If I were buying to fit over racing leathers, I would take sizing measurements with the leathers on, use the sizing chart for those numbers, and give it a shot. If you have armor on your leathers, you could remove the jacket armor and gain some room. I have used the jacket in rain, and so far it is totally waterproof. Oct 27, 2014

A shopper asked: How does this jacket do in colder weather riding? I live in the Southeast US and it doesn't get really cold but I'm thinking 40s and 50s. Jul 28, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Nathan J: I wear a polar fleece under it during the winter and I've ridden all the way down to 18 degrees F. I was cold but certainly not unbearable. 40-50s will be no problem. During the summer I ride with just a tee shirt and the vents open and I've been comfortable all the way up to 95. Jul 28, 2014
