Hard to beat for the price
It is tight when you first get it, but then it "breaks in" fairly quickly and then fits well. It is clearly protective, comfortable and looks good. The face shield doesn't distort your view in any way, the field of view is good. I like the built in visor and it works well. Overall I am happy with it. Especially when you consider the top end helmets are in the $700 - $900 range.

My only complaint is that it is portrayed as being for oval shaped heads (that is why I purchased it). I have an oval shaped head, and it feels just a tad too round still for me.

Here is some information that I have figured out that might be useful for you: There are really only 2 shell sizes. And the sizing is accomplished by different thickness cheek and head pads. The XS, S and M sizes are one shell, the L, XL and XXL are a larger shell size. That is why if you order a medium, you cannot get smaller pads as the shell already has the smallest pads. My advice is if you are between a medium and a large (a 23 inch head), get the large as they both fit exactly the same, but the large has thicker pads making it more comfortable. I found this out by trying on a large in my local store after I already purchased a medium online. Unfortunately by then it was too late to return it, as I had already worn it a couple of times. The medium fits well, it is just that the pads are thinner than in the large, which also would have fit well.

Great Price Great Helmet
I love the glossy black, this is my first helmet as I am a beginner rider and just started on my 2015 Ninja 300 SE. The drop visor is awesome and the main visor also can be replaced, as the clear visor it comes with may get boring, a gold, silver or black visor can replace it and look very attractive. I bought this helmet because I was interested in the ss1300 then I saw the ss1500 was a little upgrade and still at an amazing price. I believe I saw it at the time around $90 on another site but that site had bad reviews and revzilla had it at $110 and is my favorite and most trusted site for my bike gear. I would recommend this helmet to anyone especially new riders as this price is amazing when my gear budget is a little tight. Even if the price was at the original price of $180 I would still buy it. The helmet has a pull release which makes securing the helmet and taking it off very easy. There is a loop attached to the pull release which allows me to secure the helmet to the helmet hook under my passenger seat, when I am leaving the bike for any period of time. I believe that is the purpose of the loop. The airvents prove effective, I wore it on a hot day with the vents closed and was sweating I opened then the next day and it felt awesome great airflow all around my head. Great helmet great buy I might even buy this one again for a passenger helmet.

Amazing Helmet
I got this helmet around a week before writing this, and so far everything has been perfect with it. The Internal sun visor is great, the inflatable cheek pads are an amazing idea, and the helmet looks great. Overall it was a solid purchase, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, but affordable helmet.

3 seasons in and it's still a good helmet
I picked up an SS1500 in spring 2014, it fit great and I liked the drop down visor as well as the air pump system. I'm near the end of my 3rd season with it and the helmet is still great.

The drop down visor still works same as when I bought it, the visor has never popped out of it's tracks, and the air pump system still holds air just fine. I got a matte black version and it doesn't ever seem to show scuffs or scratches which is nice.

Downsides; Air flow is my biggest complaint. I never feel the air flowing through even with all the vents open. There is air flowing, but it seems minimal. Going along with airflow, but this is a common helmet problem, without the nose 'shield' the visor fogs up very easily. The rubber nose shield pops out at least once a month too. It's a 1st world problem.

Overall I'd buy it again. I've been happy with it.

Convenient design, but small drawbacks
This helmet gets 5 stars in convenience.
Pros:
-The chinstrap quick-release is amazingly simple and one of the major selling points for me. Be warned it won't fit on most bikes helmet locks. It's sturdy and easy to manipulate even through thick gloves.
-The built-in sun-visor is a great addition when it's sunny, although the spring loaded switch is quite unnecessary.
-The removable silicone breath-blocker is nice.
-It's featherlight and sturdy feeling.
-It's got pump-up cheeks for customizing the fit.

Cons:
-The vents don't pull in much air, leaving something to be desired in the air flow category.
-The visor is touted as anti-fog, but my visor fogs a little bit when it's chilly on the highway.
-On a cosmetic level, the plain colors are a little boring, although a good canvas if you like to customize with stickers or paint.

Notes:
-It runs rather small: I recommend trying one on in a brick and mortar store to find your size, then running back to Revzilla to actually buy it.
-It has a bit of wind noise around the neck.
-It's quite slim fitting, snug on the cheeks even without the inflatable cheek pads.

You've gotta nitpick to find anything wrong with this helmet. Lots of features and I'm going to get another one for when I have a passenger with me.

Awesome helmet with great features!
When I first received the helmet I thought I had picked the wrong size (medium). I was going to return it the next day for a larger size. Glad I didn't. You will have to have break in the helmet - wear it often, even when you're not riding because the padding will be stiff. While breaking it in, you will experience (depending on head shape) pressure in the temple and cheek area. It was tight enough to where I did not need to use the air pump feature.
One feature I did use was the DVD drop down tinted visor. At the time I only used this, because I didn't have sunglasses that I could comfortably wear with my helmet. Now, depending on your riding style will depend on if you use the DVD feature. I believe this helmet is meant for street riders who ride hunched over with eyes turned slightly upward. If you ride a crusier and ride sitting up, you will be dissapointed. If your sitting up and looking straight ahead, the DVD comes down just far enough to be a distraction and obscure your vision. However, there is a solution for about $30 more. I recently purchased the tinted (smoked) replacement visor, and I LOVE IT! Highly recommend it. I no longer need the drop down DVD. I recently had PRK (similiar to Lasik) over a month ago, and it's perfect.
In regards to looks, the helmet is nice! I gave it 4 stars, but with the added smoked visor I would give it a 5. Oh, the quick release chin strap feature...AWESOME! It's easy use with gloves.

looks good feels great
I have been wearing the SS1500 solid for about 4 months now and i have to say this thing feels great. I tried on many helmets from several different manufacturers and this felt the most comfortable. I REALLY like the quick release chin strap that thing is super easy to use even with gloves on. Now, i wish there was better airflow through the helmet but it is adequate. I rode on a 95 degree day and at stops it was a little warm. The integrated drop down visor is a nice feature but not used very much. For those who have problems fitting in a Bell, Nolan, Icon or HJC due to the round shape, definitely try a Speed And Strength helmet. I hope this review helps and ride safe.

this helmet will give you everything you want and more with a bang for your buck
i just bought this helmet and it cannot be beat for the price.
it is easy to use (as far as the sun visor ) and well everything else the padding is great very comfortable for my head . the down sides for me are there are little pockets right by the ears either for head phones or a Bluetooth device and i feel that it lets a little to much air in but i am sure it will server a purpose for someone out there. A second thing i noticed was the pump in the front dose not do a whole lot still not a big deal though. the last thing is i felt it ran a bit small the med had two points right by my temples that were just to tight so i had to move up a size.
i wouldn't focus on the bad of this helmet its sins are few and easy to deal with a great product all around.

Great First Helmet
This was my first helmet purchase and in Texas with 100 degree temps, it is a comfortable helmet. The internal drop visor works great when the sun is out and so far it has been fog free. I"m very happy with this purchase and would not hesitate to get another one.

Does S/S make a darker DVD (Drop Visor Design) for the SS1500? I live in Texas, and some days the stock DVD isn't dark enough. I frequently ride into the night, so I don't want to get a smoke visor.
