Horribly overpriced helmet
Let me get this out of the way. I understand that S/S is style oriented, and are in the market so that the Squids can wear cool looking gear (think ICON) on the cheap, but still this is ridiculous.

I bought my first street bike in 10yrs a couple of months ago, and the dealer threw in this helmet with it. I thought that was nice of him, since I only have motocross helmets at home. The first thing I noticed is that it was REALLY noisy! When I got home I went for a ride wearing my HJC CL-X6 motocross helmet. It was quieter...

I still wore it on my daily commute, but when I got home some nights my ears would be ringing, and my eyes were dry from the wind that seems to blow right through the visor gasket. After a week of this I was looking for a new helmet. I talked to a friend of mine, who had the exact same helmet in black (given to him when he bought his bike at the same dealership), and he had noticed the wind, but this was his first motorcycle ever so he didn't know that it was a loud helmet.

Lastly, the shell is about as flexible as they come.I would NOT trust this helmet to fulfill it's role in a crash.

Basically you are paying $79 for protection, and the rest for fashion. I believe my head is worth more.

Best helmet for the price ever!
You get amazing features, the drop down visor is so much more useful then you can ever think, helps save you from glare no need for carrying spare visors.
protection value is where this helmet shines, I high sided, low sides, fell to the side, from a long board face first ,and finally a 50 mph tumble... someone said my head bounced a few times, heck i didn't believe them but scratches on helmet tell otherwise.
plus the chin strap makes it easy on and off quick convenient, and great for passenger who don't know how to use the D rink.
also has pump to adjust size to fit you perfectly. could use a chin curtain for colder weather but other then that 99% best helmet ever !

S&S FTW on a budget
pro's:
-drop down visor is bad@$$. makes me feel like a storm trooper, but is actually very practical/functional. the button for it works perfect once you figure it out.
-air fit system does work well, especially for my skinny face.
-comfy as helll! at least for me anyways. my headphones fit nicely and i can wear for hours at a time no problem.
-reasonable amount of airflow through the vents.
-love, love, LOVE the quick release chin strap. this is probably my favorite feature. helmet on/off with clumsy gloves is never a problem.
-price! competitive is an understatement!

con's:
-be CAREFUL when handling this guy. the air pump button can tear off. mine has started to, the pump still works but it just bugs me. also the rubber stripping around the border of the visor area can come off. as well as the breathe shield.
-riding visor up and DVD down is not practical above 45-50 mph. wind rushes under the inner visor and is just the right amount of annoying.
-usually i am a small in most helmet brands. the small fit my skull but the breathe shield was hitting my nose.

overall:
for the money this is a good helmet. i have enjoyed mine and do not regret the purchase one bit. if i had the disposable income i would have picked up an ICON variant. but i'm not made of money. and i also needed a new summer jacket. IMHO s&s needed to spend more time on making all the little features more durable. often times this happens when trying to pack a lot of unique features into an affordable package. so in short, i do recommend this for anybody on somewhat of a budget.

great helmet great price
I got this helmet for around 150 on a close out because there replacing it with the ss1600 witch has a rounder shape for fit I think is a mistake to stop making this helmet because the ss1400 is the right shape but doesn't have as many features and the ss1600 doesn't fit everybody but who knows I don't make the helmets what do I know. All in all pay full price get it on a closeout doesn't matter its a bad butt helmet

good, not great
I'll start with the outside:
-matte color is really nice. It does have some coating on it that still protects the finish, but doesn't make it shiny. Keeps all the bug guts easy to wipe off

-the inside breath deflector is big, bigger than I'm used too. Don't think it really does a good job bc the visor does fog up in cool weather, more than I would expect. It also blocks your vision of the speedometer if you just glance down with your eyes. Now I must tilt my head, which is one more time consuming moment between me and ticket.

-some people say it is a loud helmet, I would say middle of the road at worst. If i do long distance driving, i wear ear plugs anyway, so this hasn't bothered me one bit.

-if you are coming from a helmet without a quick release chin strap, it will take some time getting used to the fitment

-if you are concerned about how your hair looks after a ride, the fitment and cushioning on the inside does a number too

-there are a lot of features on this helmet which make it a great value, but all are not necessary

-in addition to the ones mentioned above, the drop down visor is great. If you drive a lot at night, or come home at night, not having to choose between clear or tinted is awesome. Ive heard the switch buttons to alternate between the two is strong and solid feeling compared to other brands that do the same. I don't have experience with others, but they must be made of twigs, because it does not feel extremely reliable to me. Its lasted 10 months so far with no issue, so I hope those people are right.

-The least needed of the features is the air pump fitted adjustment. If the helmet doesn't fit, this won't help. It does tighten the helmet a bit, mostly in the face and cheek areas, but I don't use it consistently, and could do without it. I also fear it may cause more fogging of the visor, as its position pushes your breath up into the visor

-The helmet overall is comfortable and the removable headliner is nice for cleaning if you do a lot of summer riding. There doesn't feel like a lot of air flow, as even now with cold weather, my head feels fine with no drafts. The air intakes don't make a discernible difference whether they are open or not.

-The only real drawback to this helmet besides no snell rating, is the fogging issue with the visor. If it is humid, or cool enough, the visor fogs up worse than I've experienced in a helmet before. Even at speeds of 45mph, it takes a mile or more to clear unless you open your visor and drive with the cold air drying out your eyes. If you drive year round in a cooler climate or have any concerns about fogging, you might want to search for other options.

overall, it is a good purchase if you can find the right price. (I paid $120)

RECOMMENDED WITH SOME WORRIES
The good:
1. The Drop Down Visor (DVD) is the best on the market. It goes up and down better than anything out there.
2. The Air Fit system works, sometimes too well, you can literally turn into a fish face if you want to.
3. The Chin Strap is something that all of my friends and other riders want to see and like the concept.

The down side:
1. Anti fog isn't that good, especially with the drop down visor, I don't think it is fog resistant at all.
2. When using the breath deflector inside of the helmet it pushes air straight into your face, this may be good for the summer but bad for the winter. Then this is removed the air circulates lilke any other helmet.
3. You get a whistle around the face shield when you turn your head side to side.
4. There is a gap just behind the ears that lets in excess noise, a redesign would probably help this.
5. The indentation for bluetooth devices could be a little bit deeper, the BLINC system I have sits above the indent.
6. The face shield is in your field of vision when it is raised. It needs to be able to go up just 1 click further.

Overall I like the helmet but it could be improved.

I just got this helmet and after wearing it for about 20 minutes my head started to hurt, the cheeks and sides of my head specifically. It felt great at first, but it became very annoying head ache like pain soon after. Does this mean i'm not an intermediate oval? Or will it take time to break it in?
HeroDanny on Nov 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I love my seven sins helmet. You have to give it a chance to break in. Of course when u try it on its only on for a few min so it's going to feel differently when u have it on your head for a 2 hr ride.
how many shells are SS making for this helmet ?

BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about different graphics? If so I believe 3.
