Shogun Frame Sliders Yamaha FZ6R

The Shogun Frame Slider features CNC-machined pucks made of a shatter-proof, abrasion-resistant and UV resistant polymer. This polymer has been race proven to keep your bike sliding and dispersing energy in the event of a crash. Each puck is then press fitted with an aluminum bushing to reduce the chance of the puck tearing off of its mounting points. Every single Shogun Frame Sliders kit includes high tensile strength and corrosion resistant hardware that puts them ahead of the competition. For kits with off-set brackets, Shogun machines them all from military aircraft grade aluminum with a black anodized finish.

Shogun Frame Sliders are designed by racers, sold by racers, for the serious rider!

Features:

  • CNC machined bike specific pucks
  • Great frame protection
  • High grade steel bolts
  • Aluminum Inserts
  • Sold in pairs
  • Carbon S5 Sliders include black anodized T-6061 aluminum end caps (applicable models)

Bike down, damage minimal
My friends 2009 FZ6R went down on the the mini track at 40 mph. The damage amounted to a destroyed peg, a crack in the tail plastics, a new puck and a very unhappy rider.

Although I felt bad, this inadvertent "Product Demo" pretty much solidified my buying a pair for my (basically exactly the same) 2013 model.

Install was super easy and quick. I had the no-cut kit, and didn't need to cut out a little notch as some no-cut kits do. The sides are different lengths, but it's easy to figure out which side they need to be on.

It is about as aesthetic as you imagine having large, plastic pegs sticking out the side of your frame, but the black kit at least pretty much gets camouflaged by all the other black on the bike. (I wanted the carbon fiber version, but didn't feel like waiting for it to come back in stock.)

Fortunately, I don't have experience with any other kits to compare it to, but the cost seems good for the peace of mind. I recommend it. I even took some awesome, low res, badly lit cell phone photos to help y'all out.

Very Durable ! No Cut Frame Sliders
First time I had to take off my fairing on the left side but it only took a few min. Install was very easy. I did the right side first since I didn't need to remove the fairing on my 09 Yamaha FZ6R. Make sure you buy blue Loctite thread locker or any brand medium strength will work for your bolts, otherwise they may vibrate out in the future. I'm sure if I ever tip my bike these will work as intended to. They seem strong. Great price too.

Saved my bike
I read a lot of reviews and watched many videos before these no cut frame sliders.
It took about 45 minutes for install, and it was all straight forward. Most of the time was invested in removing and putting back the left fairing.

2 weeks after install I was rolling my bike in to my garage. My right foot slipped and the bike was going down, no matter what I did. It landed on its right side.... I haven't been that panicked in so long. When I got the bike turned back up, there was not a scratch on anything, fairing, handle, mirrors. Only a minor indent about a half an inch on the frame slider. I was so released I laughed.
These obviously won't help in a high speed lay down. But at low speed and parked position they are extremely effective and have already saved me hundreds in damage.

The only thing I would change would be the finish of the color. I understand it might not be possible because of the material. Most bikes, including mine, have a gloss finish. These have a matte finish. Only slightly noticeable when up close, but I'm a perfectionist.

I don't review products much
PRO:
I don't like to review products because I feel that they are a waste of time but not this time! These frame sliders literally saved me hundreds of dollars already!! A co-worker decided to bump into my bike ad it got knocked over, but thanks to the sliders, the main body was untouched!! the only things got damaged was the; clutch gear lever, edge of the handle bar got a minor scratch (about $7), and a $15 dollar plastic where the air flows through for the radiator, and the left side foot peg. Definitely paid for itself already. I also managed to let it go onto its side at 0 mph and then fell on the other side as I was picking it back up (I admit, I am an idiot for it...ha ha). But when the falls happened because of me, there was NO damage to the bike itself, just a scratch on the frame sliders just like they are meant to have, instead of the bike of course. I have this installed on a '13 Yamaha FZ6-R and is an EASY install. Maybe about 30 minutes total (this includes time to get the tools ready and taking the product out of the packaging).

CON:
The only con is that it sticks out somewhat far, but what do you expect if your fairing are sort of far wider than the motor. If it was any shorted it wouldn't really protect the fairings. Just be careful if you're getting off your bike in a really tight space to not hit your knees.

A good looking product.
Easily installed it on my Yamaha FZ6R. Feels like a good and strong product. Hopefully it's durability will never be tested. :)

Only just installed but so far so good!!
It was very quick and easy to install. There was no dramas. The product itself looks like in great condition exactly as described. Shipping was fairly quick. Communication with the product team was also great and I appreciated the quick and helpful responses. I haven't given a good rating for performance and durability only because they are still new and I have yet to test them out (hopefully I won't need to). Otherwise I am sure they would be 5/5 in this category.

Super easy install.
I received my Shogun sliders lighting fast from Revzilla. The install was easy with great instructions. However they did leave out the amount of torque the bolts needed on each slider. I found that on the FZ6R web site.

someone else mentioned it and I'm glad they did; put an old rag or something between the adapter and your oil tank as you tighten it to prevent marring your oil tank. other than that its a sweet product

My first bike - so odds are I'll drop it at some point. Spent hours repainting the fairing back to factory from a drop by the previous owner, would rather not have to go through that again.

Friend had the same brand on his GF's 2009 FZ6R, when he went down on our local mini track (Maybe 40 Mph?). The tail plastics/ and peg took a beating, but the damage was much less apocalyptic than I expected. So I put some on my 2013.

Bought these to protect my frame (and fairings, I guess) in the event of a lowside or drop. Fortunately, I haven't had to test them out yet.

Will the no-cut kit work in a 2013 FZ6R?
A shopper on Apr 26, 2014
BEST ANSWER: They sure do! Installation is a quick and easy. No need to touch the right side fairing. The left requires removal of 2-3 bolts. Even for an amateur, it shouldn't take more than 30 mins.
Will the no cut fit flawlessly to my 2016 FZ6R? One of the pictured reviews have me shy.
A shopper on Apr 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: From what I've gathered Yamaha has never really bothered updating anything mechanical on the fz6r since its inception so it should fit as well on yours as any previous model year. The no cut package has a offsetting spacer since the engine mounting bolt it uses sits underneath the fairing. You can position the angle of that spacer to sit up very close to the fairing once you put it back on (like in the picture) or angle it to give a little more clearance. Either way it is going to sit pretty close to the fairing, like less than half an inch away, no matter how you position it.
Im a new so sorry for the stupid question but whats the difference cut or no cut? and what is recommend thank you in advance
A shopper on Oct 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Cut requires you to cut holes in to your fairings, I believe. No cut - you take your fairings off and just mount it to the tank with some heavy duty bolts.
