Shoei RF-1100 Hadron Helmet

SHOEI is proud to introduce the all-new Shoei RF-1100 Hadron Helmet available in black/silver or white/silver which is built on the strongest pedigree in the motorcycle helmet business,. The RF-1000 has enjoyed great success since 2003, but even so, Shoei’s world-class development team threw out the molds to build a brand-new helmet from scratch. Combining  advanced technology with customer and dealer requests, modern testing practices, and over 50 years of helmet-building experience, Shoei has delivered the finest motorcycle helmet that money can buy. The evolution of perfection is once again met in the all-new Shoei RF-1100 Helmet.

Variable Ventilation System

  • Upper Air Intake Vent is positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior
  • Top outlet vent is separate from the Shell-
  • Integrated Spoiler, allowing it to be positioned for optimum flow-through ventilation
  • Four rear outlet vents allow for adjustment of airflow based on riding position
  • Enlarged lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation
  • The rear/neck outlets allow for effective air exhaust
  • Breath guard and chin curtain included

CW-1 Face Shield

  • The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces

Q.R.S.A. (Quick Release Self-Adjusting) Base Plate System

  • Q.R.S.A. base plate allows for tool-less face shield removal and installation.
  • Every time the shield is lowered, the spring-loaded base plate (U.S. patent pending 11/799935) pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly, ensuring a wind and waterproof seal between shield and helmet

AIM+ Shell Construction:

  • Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel and professional riders’ feedback
  • High performance fiber materials are combined with extremely elastic organic fibers to create shell structure that is ultra lightweight, rigid and resilient
  • 5 Shell Sizes and six EPS liner configurations present increased fit options that comfortably fit most head sizes
  • A third generation Tail Fin, integrated into the bottom rear beading in combination with the Shell-Integrated Spoiler, allows smooth airflow that reduces drag and lift

Interior System

  • The entire interior lining (cheek pads, crown liner and chin strap covers) is easily removed to allow cleaning
  • Each component of the inner liner is ergonomically designed to offer the ultimate in safety, fit and comfort
  • Eyeglass compatible

Tech Specs

  • 5 shell sizes
  • Weight: 3.54 Pounds / 1604grams (based on size medium / solid color)
  • DOT and Snell M2010 approved

Shoei RF-1100 Hadron Helmet (black/silver 2XL only) 4.7 5 294 294
Very good fit and airflow, very bad on defogging, some buffeting This is my first Shoei. I am not astonished. Its double D strap is by far more difficult and slow to fit than a ratchet, not to mention the press to click button you have to guess. My head inside is a perfect fit since I have an long oval head shape. Bought online following the sizing charts and watching the videos. So easy. Plenty of room for your ears, very good materials and great balance. Visor locking system is perfect isolating elements from entering in your face, already tested in the pouring rain for several windy hours, but not so much is the venting. The airflow is so abundant you have to balance how much air and insects you do want, that much may open the gates to bugs to get caught and end in your hair or nostrils. Some work has to be done to open the vents with gloves on, one at a time with one hand, there are six, seven if you count the chin, and soon you find yourself making choices: a) should I stop to adjust the vents with both hands, b) Let's be patient, it's one at a time, tic, tic, tic c) Half head refreshed, half head sweat. And with the visor fully closed, nose guard and chin protector, turn your head slightly sideways and you will hear the buffeting. First time it happened I was wondering if someone had whistle calling me out. Even if you slightly incline your head towards your shoulder, you will hear the buffeting too. Finally, trying to defog I ended up using a defog spray, and another brand, and yet another. There was no way to fix the siliconned spray to the visor in a way that would not leave prints of drops or shapes that become noticeable when the fogging starts. Definitively, the PinLock it's a must and it pushes up the price mark. Last comment: Mine is supposedly Bright Yellow, not so bright. Like a lemon, that much. It comes with couple Shoei stickers and a soft carrying bag. January 28, 2013
Not impressed - returned the helmet I purchased a medium RF-1100 to match my bike as I measure 22.5 inches. I've ridden with a medium Arai Vector for the past four years. The Vector was always a bit too round for my head shape and I decided to dial in a better fitting helmet. After receiving the helmet in the mail, I walked around the house with it on. First observation was how scratchy the interior liner felt compared to my Arai. Second, the helmet wasn't tight enough to stay in place on my noggin. I went to the garage and sat on my S1000RR and felt the helmet slide over my eyebrows when in the 3/4 position. Lastly, the helmet looked huge on me - the feared bobble head syndrome. Revzilla was awesome and the return process was very smooth. Not going with Shoei in the future. I'm now looking for a better helmet in this price range with good inter oval fit, aggressive looks, good ventilation, and smaller overall profile. Does such a helmet exist? January 17, 2013
Great helmet As long as the shape fits your head, you cant beat this helmet. January 14, 2013
True Shoei quality This is my 2nd RF1100. Great helmet. Cuts through the air nicely. Zero wind turbulence when turning my head at speed for lane checks. My first one had a slight whistle but after adjusting the visor it went away. This new one was perfect right out of the box. Only minor issue is the matte finish. It's quite delicate. Put a slight nick in it rather quickly. Highly recommend!!! But I'd probably go back to a glossy finish next time around. January 14, 2013
Great Helmet; no suprise though, it's a Shoei This helmet like many other Shoei's, demonstrates a relatively affordable RELIABLE helmet. At first, the fit around the cheeks is uncomfortable, but just like shoes, it'll break in. The visor is very easy to change, and the clarity is a clear as it can be. The ventilation system is very good. Although there is no anti-fog shield, the settings to have the visor slightly open is easy to use and helps out a lot in regards to the visor fogging up. The paint scheme is much better in person trust me, it is pretty wicked! It is real paint and not vinyl like many of the cheaper helmets by other manufacturers. Essentially you get what you pay for; though this might be slightly expensive for some, if you can afford a bike, you can definitely invest in a good helmet, this is a great helmet and put it into perspective, can you really put a price on your head? January 9, 2013
Great Women's Helmet I had a Shoei helmet years ago when I first started riding and they were the first ones I considered when getting back into bikes. This RF-1100 is super-light, has great padding for comfort and has all the Shoei quality I expected. The vents over the crown as well as at the front were really effective and I am comfortable wearing it for hours at a stretch. The super styling doesn't hurt either. The visor has a vent setting so you can let just a bit of air in and it seals firmly when fully down. I've had no fogging at all with it. I am planning on getting a tinted visor for the warmer months. The system for swapping out visors is really easy and quick, so I can swap the clear one back if the weather or light changes while I'm on the road. December 31, 2012
Excellent helmet I love this helmet. It's the most comfortable one I've ever owned. I have a more oval shaped noggin and tried this one on a recommendation. It didn't disappoint. The fit and finish are amazing. The helmet is well-built and functions well. It's been cold here in Northern Cali so the front vent has been very useful for clearing the fog off the visor. At first I didn't see the point of the pin lock system, but it is quite handy. If you leave the pin lock in the "open" position at speed, though, you'll get a pretty annoying whistle. At slower speeds though (like stop and go traffic) it's perfect for keeping fogging down. I imagine it'll be quite useful in the rain as well. I haven't tested the full ventilation yet, but if they all work as well as the chin vent, it should be adequate. The biggest bonus is the aerodynamics. The helmet really cut down the buffeting I felt with my old full face. I was very impressed with that and would recommend it just based on that feature. I was a little put off by the price at first but am glad I bought it. I would definitely recommend this helmet. December 31, 2012
Great Helmet i have owned this helmet for a little under a month now, and i must say wow, its the best helmet ive tried on and rode with, plus you can never go wrong with a full face. December 26, 2012

Answer:
The helmets are made in Japan and there is a considerable delay between manufacture and their ending up in a warehouse in the USA. While a helmet made in 2010 is a bit old even considering the above, you will still get 5 years of use out of it. Nobody is going to start opening up box after box just to try to find you the newest helmet that they have. A helmet dated a year ago would probably be right off the boat. So if it was made at the end of 2010 then it probably has only been in the warehouse for a short time.

My heads circumference measures exactly 22 inches. This falls at the end of the Small size which is 21 5/8-22 inches. Would it be better to go with a Medium or try a Small first?

Answer:
Typically we recommend starting with the smaller size in situations where someone falls between sizes or is right at the top of a size range. Based on your head measurement, we would recommend a size Small as the size Medium would likely be too big once the helmet has been ridden in a few times

Answer:
Small first, for sure. I found that the ranges are accurate, at least for my shaped-head, and like most helmets, it will loosen just a bit over time as the pads break-in. Also, you can get thinner pads to give you some more room if the original one don't break in as much as you'd like. Rather have a helmet that too snug, than one that flops around on my head. Just my 2 cents.

Answer:
My head size falls right about where yours does, 22". I bought the medium and I am very happy with the fit. However, what really matters, is the shape of your head. Is your head shape round, oval, neutral? It doesn't matter what size you get, if the shape isn't equal, it won't be comfortable. I have an oval shaped head and this helmet fits great. If your not sure, you really should find somewhere to try one on if you can.

Definitely. I had a Qwest and it was a good helmet, but I now ride with 2 RF1100s and just love them. They are a bit noisy, but they move so much more air than anything else I've ever used, that it's entirely worth it to me. RF1100 is my favorite helmet without a doubt.

Nope the RF1100 does not have the emergency release system. The rx-q has it though. But in any case that should not be the deal breaker in choosing the rf1100 as most medics don't even know that it exists

Answer:
The fitting shape is somewhat similar. The X-11 was labeled with having an "earth" like shape where it was widest around the ears. The RF-1100 is a neutral to slight round shape. The shapes are not identical but fall close in the shape spectrum for helmets.

Answer:
I have both an RF1000 and an RF1100 both in the same size, I would say the fit is the same however the RF1100 seems like there is more room which is probably due to the larger viewing area of the 1100.

Answer:
My GF has the RF-1000 in a size medium and it's too snug on me. It puts a lot of pressure on my forehead. Oddly enough, the RF-1100 fits me perfectly in the same size medium.

Answer:
ive never had and RF-1000 but the RF1100 was a little small when i ordered a medium. im a pretty average sized guy, so i thought the MD would be about right.... not so true. try measuring your head and using the size chart. thats what helped me determine that i should stick with a large. good luck!
