Shoei Qwest Passage Helmet

The Shoei Qwest Helmet was built with a focus on minimizing helmet weight, decreasing noise and optimizing fit, comfort and protection to bring a new level of comfort to touring helmets. Featuring a slightly round oval internal shape, the Qwest helmet is manufactured with 4 individual shell sizes to keep the helmet as low-profile as possible. The smaller the helmet shell, the lighter the helmet weight. The Shoei Qwest Helmet also uses the Shoei's CW-1 visor technology with the Q.R.S.A system. This system guarantees a tight seal at the face shield  by pulling the shield back to contact the opening seal evenly. The Qwest also touts an extra-wide viewport for additional peripheral vision so you can more easily take in the world around you. Snell M2010 and DOT ratings means the Qwest is no compromise when it comes to safety.

Aerodynamic Shell Design:

  • Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel and feedback from professional riders
  • Dual-Layer EPS liner enhances impact absorption and ventilation
  • Four shell and six EPS liner sizes increase fit options that help to comfortably fit most head sizes
  • Molded air spoiler reduces drag and lift as well as diminishes weight pressure on the neck while riding at high speeds

Ventilation System:

  • Upper Air Intake Vent is positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior
  • Large upper intake vent positioned to maximize performance in high wind conditions
  • Easy to operate large lower intake vent
  • Lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation
  • Rear/neck outlets allow for effective air exhaust
  • Breath guard and chin curtain are included

Lightweight Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+):

  • High performance fiber materials are combined with extremely elastic organic fibers to create a shell structure that is ultra lightweight, rigid and resilient

  • 3D center pad and multi-layered, polyurethane foam cheek pads
  • Cheek pads are replaceable or removable for maintenance
  • Eyeglass-compatible interior
  • Standard chin strap clip neatly secures chin strap

CW-1 Shield and Q.R.S.A. System:

  • Q.R.S.A. (Quick-Release Self-Adjusting) base plate allows for tool-less shield removal and installation
  • Spring-loaded base plate pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly and ensures a proper seal
  • Scratch-resistant coating
  • 99.9% protection from harmful UV A and B rays
  • Optional, CWF-1 two-dimensional Pinlock equipped racing shields with tear-off posts are available (sold separately)
  • Optional, CW-1 Pinlock prepared shields are available to accommodate Pinlock Fog Free Inserts (sold separately)
  • The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces
  • A pre-set lever can easily lock the shield in place to prevent the shield from opening unexpectedly, as well as prop the shield open to increase airflow

Additional Features:

  • Construction: AIM+ (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus Multi Fiber)
  • Weight: 3.644 lbs / 1,653 grams (approx, for Size Medium)
  • Standards: Snell-M2010, DOT

Please Note:  The vents on the Brilliant Yellow helmet are black, not yellow as shown in product photo.

Shoei Qwest Passage Helmet 4.6 5 499 499
Great helmet Bought this as a backup to my Neotech. Fit is similar. Less airflow. Very comfortable. A bit louder than Neotech. Installed CW1 yellow face shield and looks awesome! A great buy. August 26, 2015
Very comfortable fit. I bought this to replace an older Shoei and I wanted another Snell rated helmet. Great value for the comfort and appearance to go along with the safety rating. August 24, 2015
Second one We liked the large matte black version so much we ordered this one for my wife. The graphics are well done and my wife says worth the extra $100. I can't comment on the level of protection or its quality in relation to other helmets since these are first two lids. I can say we are very happy with the purchases! August 24, 2015
Great middle helmet I've been riding a Qwest for a little over 2 1/2 years. It's comfortable, has easy to operate vents, and it looks good. It's actually a touch louder than the cheap Scorpion I replaced, but it vents better, has better visibility, and is more comfortable. I wish it had a fully removable liner, but I don't ride in ridiculously hot temperatures so it's not funky. I also wish it had a better anti-fog coating from the factory. Even my cheap Scorpion had a decent anti-fog visor. I know you can get Pinlock visors for this helmet, but come on, Shoei! Still a very good, comfortable, well-ventilated, Snell rated helmet. It also sees track duty and has had no complaints. Great value for money. August 23, 2015
Great helmet. Overall, an amazing helmet. I like the multiple vents with the open and close feature, but they could provide a bit more airflow through them. It's fairly quiet at 70+ MPH. Doesn't rise on me at high speeds. The fit was spot on. The visor is a plus, as well. Open, closed, and closed with a slight protrusion for more airflow. Easy to take the visor off and clean or swap with a different one. August 20, 2015
great looking helmet good closeout price for a quality helmet. great graphics August 19, 2015
Perfect Helmet I shopped, compared, read countless reviews, and watched plenty of helmet review videos before I settled on this one and I am glad I did. This helmet is just as advertised, at least compared to all of my previous helmets, it is quieter, lighter, high quality, and most important it is so comfortable you almost forget your wearing a helmet. I use a Cardo Scala Rider for bike to bike comms, phone calls, and listening to music and I notice a definite increase in the quality of the audio using this helmet over my previous helmets. The only drawback to this helmet is that the head liner cannot be removed and washed, not sure what Shoei was thinking, but I decided to go for it anyway. I ride a 2015 Triumph Tiger 800 XcX and have logged about 2000 miles, road and off road, with this helmet and have no regrets. Great helmet from a great manufacturer at a great price. I highly recommend it. August 19, 2015

A shopper asked: how would this helmet be in a 3/4 tuck position? Aug 8, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Randy L C: I'm not sure if you are concerned about ventilation, aerodynamics or what??? The helmet is reasonably quiet..vents pretty well and seems pretty stable when making head checks at speed, so I would think it would be fine in a 3/4 tuck position. Hope this helps. Aug 10, 2013
Reply to Randy L Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Rodolfo M: Because It's based on the RF-1100 it will do fine, but its designed for upright riding so the field of vision and the venting might not be the best. Aug 8, 2013
Reply to Rodolfo Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Dena J: It is fine but if you wanna stay in the 3/4 for a long time or go deeper then you need the RF series. Dec 8, 2013

A shopper asked: Color of Qwest Passage? Does it match the Harley Davidson orange? specifically the Black Denim Night rod special ? May 8, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Although the pictures may appear to give this helmet an orangish hue (mostly due to lighting of the photograph, varying computer screen color settings, etc.), the actual accent color is red. May 15, 2012

groc: I have a Harley Iron 883 in Black Denim (no orange), but I got the Quest Passage with the silver striping. The Denim black goes awesome. I think it'll look great with the organge too. Oct 27, 2012

A shopper asked: Looking at the Shoei Qwest and the Bell RS-1. Do they fit the same and are they similar in quality? Jan 14, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
nobie381: Mike,
I can't speak to the fit of the Bell helmets but in reviewing it quickly the Bell you are looking at was designed more for a sport rider which means the vents and aerodynamics work better for a more forward riding position. The Qwest is designed for a more upright riding position. This matters for optimal ventilation etc.

Joel P: The Bell RS-1 has a narrower fit than the Qwest and is a little more of an aggressively designed helmet intended for sport riding. Both are well-built helmets but Shoei, in general, will be of better quality than Bell. Summer Y asked: I just got this helmet in the mail [pretty quickly I might add]. When I measure my head I get 21.5, and small adult hats are too big on me..so I went with the small. It squishes my cheeks, but I'm pretty sure it fits everywhere else. When I move my head it doesn't jiggle.

Am I able to replace the cheek pads to get some thinner ones?

Also, my glasses are so hard to get on. They are plastic and not wire frames [seems a lot of ppl wear those when riding]. Will the pad stretch out a little so eventually my glasses are easier to put on?

I'm a new rider so pretty clueless. Thanks!

A shopper asked: I am looking at the Qwest Passage and the Qwest Overt. There is a difference in price, but I can detect no difference in feature. The review information says exactly the same thing about both helmets. But it is almost $100 diff in price. Why? Aug 24, 2014
