Shoei Qwest Passage Helmet

The Shoei Qwest Motorcycle Helmet was built with a focus on minimizing helmet weight, optimizing fit for comfort and protection and lowering noise levels to bring a new level of comfort to touring helmets. Featuring a slightly round oval internal shape, the Qwest helmet is manufactured with 4 individual shell sizes to keep the helmet as low-profile as possible. The smaller the helmet shell, the lighter the helmet weight. The Shoei Qwest Helmet also uses the Shoei's CW-1 visor technology with the Q.R.S.A system. This system guarantees a tight seal at the faceshield  by pulling the shield back to contact the opening seal evenly. The Qwest also touts an extra-wide viewport for additional peripheral vision so you can more easily take in the world around you.

Aerodynamic Shell Design:

  • Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel and feedback from professional riders
  • Dual-Layer EPS liner enhances impact absorption and ventilation
  • Four shell and six EPS liner sizes increase fit options that help to comfortably fit most head sizes
  • Molded air spoiler reduces drag and lift as well as diminishes weight pressure on the neck while riding at high speeds

Ventilation System:

  • Upper Air Intake Vent is positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior
  • Large upper intake vent positioned to maximize performance in high wind conditions
  • Easy to operate large lower intake vent
  • Lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation
  • Rear/neck outlets allow for effective air exhaust
  • Breath guard and chin curtain are included

Lightweight Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+):

  • High performance fiber materials are combined with extremely elastic organic fibers to create a shell structure that is ultra lightweight, rigid and resilient

Interior:

  • 3D center pad and multi-layered, polyurethane foam cheek pads
  • Cheek pads are replaceable or removable for maintenance
  • Eyeglass-compatible interior
  • Standard chin strap clip neatly secures chin strap

CW-1 Shield and Q.R.S.A. System:

  • Q.R.S.A. (Quick-Release Self-Adjusting) base plate allows for tool-less shield removal and installation
  • Spring-loaded base plate pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly and ensures a proper seal
  • Scratch-resistant coating
  • 99.9% protection from harmful UV A and B rays
  • Optional, CWF-1 two-dimensional Pinlock equipped racing shields with tear-off posts are available (sold separately)
  • Optional, CW-1 Pinlock prepared shields are available to accommodate Pinlock Fog Free Inserts (sold separately)
  • The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces
  • A pre-set lever can easily lock the shield in place to prevent the shield from opening unexpectedly, as well as prop the shield open to increase airflow

Additional Features:

  • Construction: AIM+ (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus Multi Fiber)
  • Weight: 3.644 lbs / 1,653 grams (approx, for Size Medium)
  • Standards: Snell-M2010, DOT

Really loud and only good for upright sitting for some reason its really loud and has alot of wind noise. if you ride a sport bike I don't suggest you buying especially in the tuck. its honestly not worth the price at all. I don't suggest you buy this helmet. I've been riding 4 years. good helmet for its comfort and safety but you can get so much more with a different helmet that costs less. November 12, 2014
Nice Helmet but the reviews were right! I just received this helmet today and went for a 55 mile ride to check it out. I live in New Jersey, and it was 48 degrees and sunny. First of all , Revzilla is fantastic. I ordered the helmet late Sunday and it was delivered this morning! Thanks Revzilla! I have an oval head with a wide jaw, and normally wear a large, and the large I bought fits great. I mention this because I just bought and returned to Revzilla a Scorpion EXO 900 that actually hurt my jaw because it was not wide enough. This helmet fits great and feels very comfortable out of the box. It is a high quality helmet with a very nice finish. I installed the chin curtain provided and it really kept my chin and lower face warm. But like many reviews I read, the helmet fogs up immediately when the shield is closed. If you use the setting to crack the shield open, the shield immediately clears but the whistling noise is unbearable. I normally ride with the shield up in warmer weather, which is fine. However, in this weather it would be nice to close the shield. It is warmer with the shield closed and it makes the helmet very quiet. It looks like I will also be buying a pin lock shield as others have. One final thing. The helmet was manufactured in October 2011. I would normally have a problem with this, but the SHOEI instructions say the helmet is good for five years from the date it is put in service. December 16, 2014
1st Shoei - a keeper Yet another 5 star review for Shoei? Well, yes. Very comfortable, very wide eye-port visibility, pretty quiet, Snell certified, understated hi-viz graphics, shield seals tight, pretty good airflow. Only issue is when shield is cracked for minimum ventilation it whistles (but may be my combo of windshield). Ears feel pinned back slightly, but may be break-in period. And Service: ordered on Tuesday night and received on Thursday... Nice. December 4, 2014
Nice helmet. This helmet is light weight and doesnt hurt while driving. Though fog forms up at standstill, but the moment I get back in motion, it fades off. Fit has been excellent and the view is better. December 3, 2014
Nice Helmet I want bought this helmet in future! Nice design, and i know SHOEI, its they have 5 stars in protecting rating November 26, 2014
Learning As I Go Starting from scratch on a motorcycle has a very steep learning curve. All that staying upright, using one hand for clutch, the other to brake while the left foot changes gears while the right one is busy doing some braking, takes a while before it comes naturally. Signaling, counter steering, tight slow turns, loose gravel in tight turns at speed, and my favorite- wet, scored roadway under construction in a heavy crosswind. Then of course there are lots of other vehicles, most of which contain distracted drivers without a clue who, or what is around them. Then there is gear. What do I want? What is mandatory? How should it fit? How much does it cost? What level of protection am I comfortable with? Where should I buy it? How much does it cost? What size do I need? How much does it cost? I am leaving out completely what bike I shall I purchase, another whole paragraph. Turns out through trial and error, through my developing comfort level, that I am ATGATT. And I want good gear. That fits. Here is where I get to the Shoei Qwest helmet. I didn't know what size helmet to get. An XXL seemed to fit fine and the GMax I got was fine. Until I was told it was way too loose. I moved down in size and up in price to a Shoei Air in XL. Again seemed fine, until it wasn't. A State Trooper checked my fit and declared it too loose again. Bigger cheek pads didn't help. This Shoei Qwest uses four different shell sizes to allow a better fit. I got a size L and it fits great. Tight but not strangling. And the Qwest is light, quiet, and comfortable. Now I know what a motorcycle helmet is supposed to feel like with a proper fit. I feel secure with this helmet on. I recommend this helmet heartily. I recommend proper sizing even more. Well-Rounded Helmet - They did a good job of making a hi-viz product stylish. - I found that the visor fogs up easily in the cold, but there are many solutions to this such as using the visor lock to crack it open a little bit. - The shape is definitely a little rounder than my head, but this is as advertised. best bang for your buck I have 2 shoei quests, also have a new rf1200, the quest is hands down a better deal. it is quieter, just about as light, it feels more aerodynamic at speed, not quite as good of venting , but still plenty for hot weather, face shield system is easier to use that the new system on the rf1200. A shopper asked: how would this helmet be in a 3/4 tuck position? Aug 8, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Randy L C: I'm not sure if you are concerned about ventilation, aerodynamics or what??? The helmet is reasonably quiet..vents pretty well and seems pretty stable when making head checks at speed, so I would think it would be fine in a 3/4 tuck position. Hope this helps. Aug 10, 2013
Reply to Randy L Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Rodolfo M: Because It's based on the RF-1100 it will do fine, but its designed for upright riding so the field of vision and the venting might not be the best. Aug 8, 2013

Dena J: It is fine but if you wanna stay in the 3/4 for a long time or go deeper then you need the RF series. Dec 8, 2013

A shopper asked: Color of Qwest Passage? Does it match the Harley Davidson orange? specifically the Black Denim Night rod special ? May 8, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Although the pictures may appear to give this helmet an orangish hue (mostly due to lighting of the photograph, varying computer screen color settings, etc.), the actual accent color is red. May 15, 2012

groc: I have a Harley Iron 883 in Black Denim (no orange), but I got the Quest Passage with the silver striping. The Denim black goes awesome. I think it'll look great with the organge too. Oct 27, 2012

A shopper asked: Looking at the Shoei Qwest and the Bell RS-1. Do they fit the same and are they similar in quality? Jan 14, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
nobie381: Mike,
I can't speak to the fit of the Bell helmets but in reviewing it quickly the Bell you are looking at was designed more for a sport rider which means the vents and aerodynamics work better for a more forward riding position. The Qwest is designed for a more upright riding position. This matters for optimal ventilation etc.

Reply to nobie381 Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Joel P: The Bell RS-1 has a narrower fit than the Qwest and is a little more of an aggressively designed helmet intended for sport riding. Both are well-built helmets but Shoei, in general, will be of better quality than Bell. If you have any other or more specific questions, please e-mail us at cs@revzilla.com or call us at 877-792-9455. Jan 31, 2012

A shopper asked: I am looking at the Qwest Passage and the Qwest Overt. There is a difference in price, but I can detect no difference in feature. The review information says exactly the same thing about both helmets. But it is almost $100 diff in price. Why? Aug 24, 2014
