Shark Speed-R Duke Helmet

SHARK is proud to present a new philosophy. Utilizing all SHARK’s expertise in safety, innovation and function the SPEED -R is a helmet specifically designed to meet the passionate demands of un-faired motorcycle riders.

Double blade air spoiler: positioned at the rear of the Speed-R, it allows the air to flow above and below the blade, hence the dual venturi effect to extract warm air from the helmet.

Spoiler/stabilizer: at its rear base trim the Speed-R has a spoiler, which stabilizes the helmet and the cancels the buffering effect. The immediate benefit is no air turbulence running inside the helmet and greater stability at a steady speed.

  • Includes Pinlock shield and lens
  • Latest generation composite ‘long fibre’ construction
  • Integrated, drop down sun visor
  • Extensive wind-tunnel testing to perfect aerodynamics and ventilation system for use with ‘naked’ road bikes
  • Double cavity rear spoiler creates faster air circulation to drastically reduce fogging
  • Rear deflector stabilizer reduces helmet buffeting
  • Faceshield varies in thickness and is optically correct, scratch resistant and anti-fog coated
  • Completely remove and washable COOLMAX lining
  • Shark Easy Fit glasses system offers wearers a comfort lining which has a pre-fitted system to accommodate all types of glasses
  • ECE 2205 and DOT approved
  • Two shell sizes

Note: Orange colorway is closer to red than to orange.

Excellent looking melon protector that fits even better. I thought my old HJC helmet fit me well until I put this thing on. Super comfortable, excellent fit for my head shape. Love the built in sunvisor. Only good things to say about this helmet. Go for it. October 28, 2015
Worst helmet ive ever owned, no customer service period Hands down the worst helmet ive ever owned. The rear venturi came off around 140 mph. Once the rear venturi left the helmet air will not flow thru the helmet. Add that the helmet created insane buffeting after that too. But wait there's more! The "internal sun visor" is a complete joke. With the main visor down blocking all wind, the internal sun visor will deform and warp above speeds of 150 mph. Litterally you see visual distortion while it vibrates, i quit using the sun visor at any point i would surpass 100 mph. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE... shark gave zero F's when contacted. They wouldn't even respond. The best answer i could get didnt even come from shark, it was other people online that needed to replace the rear venturi in forums. The general concensus is to ship this piece to france, and wait for it to be fixed.... its a few screws really? Just sale the rear venturi, if americans can save you from a world war im sure we can replace a rear venturi. October 2, 2015
In my 20 plus years of motorcycle riding, the Shark Speed-R is the best helmet I have ever owned. The Shark Speed-R is light weight, comfortable and has great design features including the easy to operate internal shaded eye shield. The Air vents are engineered in a way that ventilates adequately and can be opened and closed easily while riding. I chose the Scott Redding Replica helmet and am very pleased with the graphics and outer shell durability. This helmet is highly recommended for anyone who loves motorcycling and wants to ride safely, comfortably, with durability in mind...and looking good while you do it. September 14, 2015
Falling apart I was excited to buy this helmet. It was my first full face helmet. The sun visor mechanism came in handy but after a while I found myself always riding with it down, so regular sun visor would do the job just fine. My dad bought the same helmet as we ride the same bike but we have different head sizes. No more than two months later problems started to occur. My dads visor is really hard to open and mine won't stay open. While riding on highway, the back plastic piece fell of my dad's helmet. Then I dropped my helmet while walking and the top plastic piece (ventilation) fell off. Really poor quality. And when we wanted to get it repaird, they told us it could take half a year.... WHAT?? (not Revzilla. Czech dealer) So overall I would not buy a Shark helmet again. Not worth the money. Also I forgot to mention that it gets too hot in the helmet during summer. September 1, 2015
Easy to find/use sun visor Built in sun visor is great. The slider on top of the helmet makes it easy to find while riding. I get lots of looks riding in the city. My head was actually between a large and medium so I went down to a medium. The only problem I have with this helmet has to do with me having high cheek bones. It sucks to wear until it breaks in. Once broke in its amazing. I use it on all my long trips because of the slide down visor. One of the other reviews mentioned they dropped theirs and some pieces broke. First off yes I think the pieces on the back feel like they would if dropped. Secondly, you shouldn't be dropping your helmet since even that can compromise the safety of any helmet It is true that the visor is a pain to open. Just open and close it 20 times before wearing and you should be fine. Just remember they designed this particular helmet to either be open or closed not in between. It feels great in a full tuck. Watch the video revzilla has, they're pretty spot on with their analysis of this helmet series. Love that you can use eye glasses with it. June 25, 2015
Helmet is worth the price I have owned this helmet for 8 months and it is by far the best helmet I have owned. The padding is very soft and comfortable over long rides. One issue is that the padding is very thick, so the shell appears larger than many helmets and some downward vision is cut off because the shield is far from your face. This has never caused me any real issues. The visibility through the shield is amazing, it hardly fogs at all. When I first purchased the helmet I tried to put the shield down a few times because didn't think it was there. The added features are great; the internal sun visor is my favorite feature but the ear cut outs for speakers are awesome too. They completely alleviate the pressure my bluetooth speakers caused in my last helmet. I would 100% recommend this helmet. August 2, 2015
From a quality stand point this is a great product, aesthetically I'd prefer a smaller more sleek helmet. So this is a really nice, really comfortable, high quality helmet. There are three things I didn't like too much. First was the size and shape (externally), not the fit. The helmet looks unnecessarily big compared to my two other AGV helmets. I'm really picky about the aesthetics and maybe it's just me but I'd prefer not to look like a bobble-head if I can help it. The second is the inside visor that drops down. It's a really cool feature but when it is in the down position there is about a 1 inch gap around the cheek area. I wish the visor pulled down all the way to the nose guard, leaving no gap. Third was the external clear visor. I wanted the visor cracked (semi-up position) to allow air flow in but the visor would shut with very little force- meaning it wouldn't stay cracked open like I wanted. Maybe I didn't no how to work the visor properly and maybe it was user error. Aside from these few details, which are mostly aesthetic preferences on my part, this is an excellent helmet. I definitely feel safer riding in this helmet than any of my others. I took pictures of the helmet, to compare along side of another. Please consider that I'm all about the looks and so the things I pointed out may not be a problem for others. June 4, 2015
Great Helmet with a couple of problems Overall I love this helmet. Really good design and look. It's comfortable with average noise level. The Pinlock visor is outstanding. I could not fog it up no matter how hard I tried. I also love having an integrated sun visor that's easy to put up and down. My only real complaints about this helmet are the face sheild is all but impossible to open with gloved hands due to the mechanism used to hold it closed. Very weird design and frustrating when trying to allow more air in by opening the face sheild. Also the sunvisor keep coming disconected from the small plastic lever that lowers and raises it via the top of the helmet. Poor execution on this piece. But it's still a very aerodynamic, well fitting helmet. Installing the Shark tooth system was a pain due to my difficulty reinstalling the helmet liner once the Shark tooth was in place. If they fix the 2 issues with the visor lock and sunvisor opening/closing mechanism and maybe decrease the wind noise (that 1 is asking a lot); it would be just about perfect. June 8, 2015

Duffie C: I have a solid black version of this helmet that I ordered from overseas. At this point (a few years and drops later) I am ready to replace it. I really like the color scheme and the pinlock visor is unbeatable when commuting in the bay area. Mar 6, 2014

John A: ok, which is it? is it orange or is it red???

pictures online say both! i am left to assume that all the US "orange" versions are red and that the Euro ones are truly orange.

additionally, there seems to be two different kinds. One with "Shark" printed in white, another with the letters in black or anthracite. revilla's competitor (whom this site refuses to let me name) says theirs is the one with white lettering. Not sure if the one with antracite lettering is an older version?

Reid L: I called revzilla to ask them this exact question. I have an orange 08 CBR. The helmet I received was orange and matches my bike very well! After looking around at other sites it appears Shark does make a red version of the helmet. Oct 4, 2014

A S: It is red, it isn't orange like you would expect orange to be.
Would look great for a red bike though.
