Shark Evoline 3 ST Hakka Helmet

Shark’s masterpiece continues on its evolution. Never has a helmet given you such options between street/road riding, open or full face.

Improvements to the Series 3 include:

  • Easier manipulation of the chinbar thanks to the Auto-Up system. The unique motion of the Evoline remains unchanged and has become even more natural with the Series3.
  • The Auto-Up system has been simplified - chinbar and main shield are now united in a single movement.
  • Fabrics, finish and style. The interior of the Evoline Series 3 has been totally redesigned and is softer, better and more comfortable.
  • Brand new ventilation design fore and aft.
  • Overall lower weight has been decreased by approximately 200 grams.

Features:

  • Lexan Polycarbonate shell
  • Shark Easy Fit system for comfortable use with glasses
  • Sharktooth ready
  • Integrated drop down sun shield
  • Removable and washable CoolMax liner
  • ECE 2205 approved with chinbar in both open and closed position
  • ECE 2205 and DOT approved

Love the Shark helmets, very versatile, comfortable on a long ride or just around town as a three quarter helmet.
John V on May 2, 2014
Because the chin piece folds all the way back to allow riding with it open and price

Went cycle helmet shopping. I've never worn a full face or modular helmet in the past, however now that I'm riding solo I knew it was a good idea. I tried on 20or more helmets and this helmet was amazing! The cheapest I have seen this was 440.00. I can't believe the price on revzilla. The fit and feel of this helmet actually has me looking forward to wearing a full face helmet.

I like the idea of having the versatility of an open face helmet and a full face helmet. I have been interested in modulars for a while but never found one that I liked. The sun visor is a great plus.
Rafael Z on Nov 2, 2013
Fully modular, 25% off, sweet color scheme...win

second i picked hakka because solid titanium and silver metal were out of stock.

I wanted a modular Helmet. This is the only one with the ability to flip it all the way back. It also matches my K1600 GT colors. I also like the graphics and it got great reviews.

The ability to be open faced and closed without changing pieces of equipment. I also understand that Shark is a quality product (have not had a Shark helmet before) plus good reviews on this product.

Sizing, my head measured closed to 23" (58.42 cm), I wear L size with Scorpion helmet. What size do you recommend?
A shopper on Aug 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: My wife has a scorpion and shark evoline 3 and says they fit about the same. She says the shark might be a bit snugger compared to the scorpion probably because her scorpion is a 3/4. I notice my shark fit tighter than expected but had long hair when I first got it. Wasn't much extra room for my pony tail. The helmet does have quite a bit of wind noise. I know that wasn't your question but it is louder than I thought a helmet at this price would have.
This helmet comes with "Shark Lub" which it says should be applied regularly - how often is regularly? Once a week? Once a month? Every 1000 miles?
A shopper on Sep 13, 2013
BEST ANSWER: You will know when you have let it go to long without lube, or at least I did. The shield will not want to shut all the way withough extra force and when you investigate why you will see that a lot of friction between the shield and the top seal is the culprit. The shield is "grabbing" the rubber seal. Once lubed it's smooth again.

A shopper on Sep 13, 2013
BEST ANSWER: If you want to ensure a proper seal on the visor gasket you need to apply it frequently to insure a smooth and watertight seal. the weather and climate affects the dryness of the rubber.

tarantula on Sep 13, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Steven C.; I would say every week to two weeks depending on your climate and if you move the face shield a lot. If you are in a dry climate then once a week. My once a month was not enough and the small rubber gasket at the top edge of the helmet was destroyed; in my opinion it needs improvement.

Rain hint: make certain that when riding in rain you have the chin bar FULLY clicked down and clicked into position or the face shield will allow rain to drip down your face from the top. This is also where the lube maintains the very small rubber gasket! Good luck.
with the visor sealing on a retractable chin bar, does the visor make a good air tight seal?
A shopper on Aug 28, 2012
BEST ANSWER: if your speaking of the shark helmet, it seals well. I ride behind a big windscreen, so I wanted to know how well the helmet performs on a go-fast. I asked a friend who rides a Honda 600. He like the Shark and thought it was well balanced and handled the wind better than his helmet. (his helmet is also a well known, high-end helmet).

I usually keep the shield up when riding this last summer, because it was just too hot. However, I too was concerned with the seal of the shield, which I found to fit well, and was of better quality than the helmet I replaced. I have now replaced both of my older helmets with Shark Helmets. I like them and feel they are worth the money.
Will the SHM-10 work with the Evoline 3 and still have full range of motion?
A shopper on Aug 7, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the Sena SMH-10 can be mounted to the Shark Evoline 3 helmet without interrupting the rotation of the chinbar mechanism. However, you will most likely have to use to the Glued Surface Mounting Adapter as opposed to the clamp.
Hello Revzilla!
regarding size, I feel comfortable with a M (57) Arai, do you recommend getting S for this model as stated in the vid?
Amina H on Sep 4, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yes, small is suitable in ur case, these run slightly big as far as smalls go. Also, keep in mind that these really do cater to an oval head instead of a rounder head as seen from the top. If you have a rounder head u will feel more contact in front and back and less on the sides. You really do want a cemetrical fit. Also keep in mind that if you drop this helmet once or twice, it will most likely break off one of the two side plastic strips that hide the screws for the shield. They have delicate tabs that break easy... The top vent seems to have very little effect in throughput venting.
I understand it's 200 grams lighter than the Evoline 2... so what is it's weight?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2013
BEST ANSWER: heavy I agree. the new evoline is lighter but that makes little difference. In daily commute the weight makes no difference to me, I also own a super light Shark full face but still prefer to use the evoline because of the features evoline offers.
Does this helmet come with a chin curtain or how does is keep the cold air getting in for winter riding ?
A shopper on Dec 2, 2012
BEST ANSWER: No, the Shark Evoline 3 ST Helmet is not equipped with a chin curtain as it would interfere with the rotating chinbar mechanism.

Although the rubber chin spoiler is elongated to provide for better aerodynamic characteristics, it does not completely prevent air from entering the helmet.
Are darker sun visors available for the 3st?
A shopper on Sep 3, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Contacted Shark directly through there web site and found out that darker visors for the sun shade feature should be available within a couple of months. They have been produced but are not in Shark's hands at this point.
