Easy to use. Another excellent product by Sena. Great for making videos with your gopro. Links audio automatically for ease of use. October 12, 2015
Sena Saves GoPro The GoPro Hero4 is a great video device. What is doesn't have is audio on a par with the video. The Sena BlueTooth Audio Back arrives to save the day! Imagine wires hanging off the Hero4 and no weather seal against the elements. The Sena Audio Back changes all of that, along with a waterproof housing. Highly recommended! September 21, 2015
A must have if motovlogging Bought this to wirelessly record audio for my motovlogging channel. easy to use, great sound quality (while in UHD mode) to hear a sample of audio clairty, check out my channel: youtube.com/Roadking013 August 10, 2015
Great for Motovlog's I wanted to wait to review this item until I had had a chance to really get to use it and put it through a few good uses. So lets start off with some good: -Easily hooks up to your GoPro. -Quickly connects to Sena SMH10 when turned on and paired. -Audio quality in UHD mode is amazing. -Lightweight so it doesn't bog you down if on your helmet. -Sleek enough design to not look tacky wherever you put it. Now, with any item, a few cons: -First time setup was a bit of a pain. -Opened a ticket with Sena and they sent me a generic. reply and closed the ticket, not resolving my issue. -The case is not as tough as the GoPro models. I did drop it from a short height and scuffed it easily. I've dropped my GoPro cases from much higher with no issues. Not sure it would hold up well if the mount failed and it went off on the highway. -Battery life is somewhat an issue, but not a full blown con -Does not charge the GoPro as efficiently as just charging the bacpac and battery seperate. Now into my thoughts. The features this has are nice, but I would love to be able to use the attachment and listen to music at the same time. Not possible from what I have found. The first time setup was a bit of a hassle as I tried to connect the bacpac to my SMH10, via intercom mode and it would not connect. I could pair it as a phone with no issues, but then the audio made me sound like a Storm Trooper. After upgrading firmware, trying again, resetting to factory, upgrading firmware, and doing this numerous times, I finally got the bacpac to connect via intercom mode and got the UHD Audio to work. Thanks to the SMH10, it records my voice perfectly even when going at ridiculous speeds or in high winds. The battery life is around 2-2.5 hours. It can vary, but thankfully, with the open back case, I can switch off the bacpac with ease and still keep recording with my GoPro. I carry spare batteries and even a battery brick for my phone, so on long rides I can still charge the bacpac as needed. It just takes a bit more time. If I turn off the GoPro and forget about the bacpac it does go into a sleep mode that conserves battery which is a great feature. I have been using this now for several weeks putting it through some tests. I have dropped it as I mentioned and surprisingly scuffed the case some, from a linoleum floor. I've kicked (on accident), dropped, and had my GoPro go flying off on the highway and the first two had no damage, the other it was scuffed some. So, keep that in mind. It may not be the best case, but it will hopefully hold up if something ever happened. All in all, I do enjoy using it. The audio quality is a amazing in UHD and the picture of course is great as well. Even with gloves on I can turn the bacpac on and off quickly to record audio if needed. I have tried to charge it while in use, but not sure if it was working properly so haven't bothered. I would like to have music playing while recording, but again, it is easy to turn the bacpac on and off even with gloves on. I recommend this product for anyone doing motovlogs and look forward to trying it out for other applications. August 8, 2015
Great Product! Use this for motovloging in group rides or when I have someone with me, awesome product! July 20, 2015
Super easy I moto-vlog and I wanted to be able to do so at any time without fearing the rain. (being able to make everything water tight was a must) The sound quality was amazing and almost got rid of any wind noise from the videos. It is very easy to use since after your first time using it, all you have to do it turn it on and your Sena will sync to it automatically. June 5, 2015
Sena for Go Pro Hero 4 This systems is easy to setup and quick to connect once you do it the first time. Next time, just turn on your headset and the Sena pack and it pairs automatically almost instantly. Sound quality is really good and the case is still going strong after several hundred miles and at highway and up speeds. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to record audio inside of a helmet while using a Go Pro camera. Now if only the Go Pro camera was more user friendly. I have a review of this product I want to put on YouTube but the Go Pro is not being user friendly so I'm still in the editing phase. May 25, 2015
Works well but could be designed better The audio back works well but it does not use a standard case that allows you to change out the lens cover. If it gets damaged from a rock you have to replace the entire case. March 16, 2015

Glen J: I have been a SENA user for some time, having the SMH10 and recently upgrading to the SMH20. I've also had a Go Pro 1, 2 and 3+. the combination looks like a no-brainer. I use the SENA motorcycling, skiing, bicycling and horseback riding. I use the Go Pro on all of these plus in the kayak. The ability to add audio without trying to shout loud enough to overcome ambient noise and the waterproof housing is something I've wanted for a while. Sep 13, 2014
John T: I needed it for filming documentaries and vlogging in areas that have loud background noise and needed to hear my voice more clearly without having to shout just to be heard. Nicholas i: I'm not sure, but I'd like you to consider the sena audio back carefully before purchase. I purchased it with the smh10 and was extremely disappointed. The reason for this is the quality of recording via Bluetooth. When I tried it there was this nasty white noise present in the audio. I have tried every configuration and nothing rids the recording of static. I contacted the maker for support and they responded with a generic reply about resetting to default and checking firmware, both of which I tried with no change in result.

I looked up several YouTube videos of this in action and their recordings were similar to mine, and it seems like the users also abandoned the pair as well and went with wired option for recording from within their helmets. The headset works well for a comm device, and for music and phone calls, but I strongly feel that it is not sufficient for recording audio while riding. For these reasons I have both the sena and a wired mic in my helmet.

On a side note, a wired mic will pick up the other riders voice from the ear speakers because of how loud they are. Also, if you record wired with music playing with the sena, there will be music in your videos.

Good luck,

Robert P: Page 24 in the Sena Bluetooth Audio Pack user's guide:

"You can connect the bluetooth audio pack with Sena headsets and transfer the conversations to the bluetooth audio pack by estabishing intercom connections at the same time."

"You can record intercom conversations among two or three intercom friends who use Sena headsets"

Samuel R: You can record the conversation between two Sena headsets using the Bluetooth audio pack. I haven't done it, but the instructions are clear about how to set it up. I don't think it will work if you have a non-Sena headset. The sound quality on the recordings are great. Check out my moto vlog on youtube channel Radner9 for examples. Jun 3, 2015

Timothy P: Yes, you can. Per the SENA user's guide on page 24 you can record intercom conversations amoung two or three friends using SENA headsets.

One SENA Bluetooth Audio Pack for GoPro will connect with up to three SENA Bluetooth headsets.

I hope this answers your question. Ride safe.

Adam R asked: How much does the Sena audio backpack reduce battery life of the GoPro (compared to when you use your GoPro without it)? Aug 25, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Chris H: The backpack has it's own battery so it won't draw from the GoPro. Word of caution though if your backpack's battery dies the way it plugs into the GoPro will prevent the GoPro from recording audio clearly if at all. Sep 13, 2014
Reply to Chris Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Bill H: It has it's own power supply that you charge prior to pairing with your headset.
3 hrs continuous usage, up to 3 days on standby....

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Daniel B: I have not tried it with the gps directions, but I know as of now that it will override stereo Bluetooth so you can record your voice but not listen to music. I have seen several people mention this to Sena so perhaps it will be in an upcoming firmware update... Nov 19, 2014
