What's this?

Scorpion EXO-R2000 Ion Helmet

The EXO R2000 is Scorpion's flagship performance race helmet. Built with exclusive TCT composite shell construction, the lightweight EXO-2000 was developed by Scorpion engineers with input from MotoGP™ riders and tested on the track as well as in the lab. Scorpion's exclusive Ellip-Tec ratchet technology ensures a tight seal around the shield while the advanced aero-tuned ventilation system produces generous airflow and circulation throughout the helmet.

The aerodynamically designed tear-drop shell shape minimizes buffeting at high speeds and the AirFit cheekpad system ensures a custom snug fit. The EXO-R2000 comes equipped with Emergency Release cheek pads, a standard EverClear shield PLUS a bonus Dark Smoke EverClear shield. Pinlock MaxVision- ready flat shields with tearoff posts are available as an accessory for the track (sold separately). Scorpion's DNA is infused into every facet of the EXO-R2000 and the result is a new benchmark for quality and value in a premium helmet.

Features:

 • TCT Composite Shell - Developed exclusively by Scorpion and consisting of a proprietary 5 layer blend of fiberglass, Aramid and organic poly-resin fibers
 • AirFit - Permits a rider to personalize helmet fit through air adjustable cheek pads
 • EverClear no-fog faceshield - Optically-correct shield with state-of-the art fog-free technology and anti-scratch hardened coating
 • KwikWick II - Moisture-wicking helmet liner and cheek pads are breathable, easily removable and washable
 • KwickFit - Cheekpads accommodate easy on and off for most common styles of eye glasses
 • Elip-Tec Ratchet System - Easy, secure, tool-less faceshield changes in seconds. Also pulls the faceshield against the eyeport gasket when closed to ensure a proper seal
 • Emergency Release System - Tabs located under the neck roll allow easy removal of the cheekpads in case of emergency
 • Six intake air ports across the front of the helmet force cool air in while 10 exhaust vents maximize exhaust of hot air
 • Titanium Double D-rings
 • Includes Aero Skirt for increased aerodynamics and reduced wind noise
 • 5 year warranty
 • 4 shell sizes
 • Snell 2010 Certified

Note: Includes both clear and dark smoke faceshields.

It might be exactly what you want.
Hello, Revzillers. I go through helmets pretty quickly, and since I live in a small town I often buy without being able to try gear on. Here are the things I wanted to know but couldn't find about the helmet before I purchased it. I also own a Bell RS-1, so I will mention it this my review.

Fit:
I have a 59cm head. It sits right between the medium and the large. Scorpions usually fit really tight on the side of my head, so I went large. It fits, but there is a tiny bit of room. I think I'll change the size of the interior padding. Feels intermediate oval to me.

Interior:
The interior is okay, but nothing really compares to the RS-1. The R2000 feels a tad spartan in its padding. The inflatable cheek pads do work to tighten the fit. My chin hangs below the chin bar on the Bell. On this helmet I have way more coverage. Great for when it's cold or for any time you don't want to look like Jay Leno.

Airflow:
I wanted a helmet that had good airflow, but I also didn't want to freeze my face off when I rode 30 miles to work at 65 mph when it's 38 degrees outside. I read all about the venting, but I didn't read that you can shut this thing down when it's cold and you're good to go. When the vents are open it feels like somebody is blowing on the top of your head, your forehead, your mouth through a straw. You can really feel it.

Noise:
The RS-1 really muffles environmental noise, but I couldn't get the helmet to stop whistling. The EXO-R2000 doesn't whistle at all, but really lets the noise of the bike and the road get to your ears. That's great when you're thrashing your bike on the backroads but not awesome when you're doing 60 miles a day on the slab. Also, the RS-1 really booms when I tuck my chin and lean on the tank. The R2000 is at it's best in that position.

It does wind gush coming from the top and right at the ears, but nothing lower than that. With earplugs, the environmental noise is perfect. I can hear the howl of my R1 derived motor.

Screen:
I love the screen and the VERY tight seal you get from the mechanism. Also, the dark shield that comes with the helmet is excellent. And, I'm not sure this goes here but whatever, my glasses fit nicely inside the padding. This is huge for me. I always wear eyeglasses, and this helmet does a good job making glasses not a huge deal.

Graphics quality:
This is not that important for me. I'm just enough of a girly-man to want my helmet to match the bike. When I look closely at the graphics I can tell that the paint is of high quality.

Should you buy this helmet? Yes if you:
Like airflow
Don't mind thinnish padding
Like the value of features like the extra shield and pump system
Don't have a round noggin

No if you:
Want a silent helmet
Have a round noggin
Want a drop down sun visor

My last comment is that the shell seems perfectly small. The helmet feels pretty light. I'd buy this helmet again if you asked, but I might try on an HJC RPHA (I couldn't because I live in the sticks). But also remember, in the video review Anthony says he much prefers it over the RPHA, and Anthony has biceps and brains, so he seems pretty trustworthy.

Excellent Helmet
I have a Exo 700 that I like. My only issue is, it was heavy. I just got my Exo R2000 a couple of days ago, and....Wow. Amazingly light, the ventilation is superb, and the comfort is very good. It feels like not having a helmet on! This lid rocks. The helmet is quiet with the vents closed...about average with them open. The visor lever that cracks the front visor really gets a lot of air going in this helmet. I love that feature.

Like most Scorpions, its best for a narrower head. I like it better than my Icon Alliance and my Shoei RF1100.

Very nice helmet
Since my purchase of this helmet I have put about 500 miles of riding on both highway and back roads. Overall I am very pleased with the helmet and enjoy the great airflow the vents provide.

Great Helmet!
Caught this helmet on clearance. Great fit, wide vision, comes with smoke and clear visors. I have been riding with this helmet for about 3 weeks now and I honestly can't complain about one thing so far.

Solid Helmet but if you're looking for quiet go elsewhere
First off Thank you Revzilla for being awesome with exchanges. Bought a small because my other helmet was way too large and wanted to try the small first. Did not fit but Revzilla came to the rescue I had the new helmet within 2 days of getting the first one!!! First off this helmet flows a ton of air so great for the summer!!! The bad news this makes it extra extra loud. I installed a bluetooth device and because the amount of noise anything over 60 mph is impossible to hear. Other than that I love the helmet. Comes with a replacement dark shield for bright days and it's very easy to swap out shields. Other than that it's an amazing looking helmet and if you don't mind a little noise (which before installing bluetooth I didn't) this is an awesome helmet!

Visor seals very well. The cracked open setting is awesome too, improves airflow and doesn't expose your eyes.
Top Vents work, first helmet I've had that i could feel the difference.
Comes with a nice helmet bag and visor protective sleeve for the spare they include.
Long D-ring straps for easy removal.
The helmet clicks when turning my head, narrowed it down to the liner where it connects in the front under the brow vent, the plastic part of the liner seems a little warped and doesn't seem to sit 100%.
Also the liner is a bit stiff like sheets with low thread count.
Chin vent works too, i can feel the airflow, however it creates wind noise when open and i leave it shut. But 3/4 or tucked position maybe better.
I didn't notice any difference with the brow vent open or closed, may help with fogging though.
Not too impressed with the overall quality, not a bad helmet though.
Wasn't expecting a matte finish.

Decent deal if you buy on clearance
I had high hopes for this helmet. Looks great and has a decent price, good ratings and lots of Moto GP use.

Very disapointed.

The interior liner is one of the worst I have ever felt. It would be "okay" on a $150 helmet. not on one in this price range. As near to wearing a helmet with just the EPS as I have ever worn. No matter what the video says, IMO, its far worse than the HJC RPHA 10.

fit finish is again in the $150 helmet range. The paint was chipped before I took the new helmet out of the box, and it had several mars in it. I'm not sure if it was a one off, or not but at $300 it souldn't have these issues. I have 10 year old Shoei's that still look brand new that didn't cost much more than this helmet.

It does come with 2 shields, which is great. Save $50 by getting the dark shield for free.

I don't know how to describe the fit. Video says inter oval. but I thought it fit my head well and I came from a Shoei RF-1000 which is more round than oval and this helmet fit very close. However, it fit large. I wear XL in every helmet with a 61.5 cm head and XL in the helmet was large enough that at speed, it lifted off my head. Yet size L had to be pressed down so it was one big pressure point all the way around my head.

If you can get this helmet on clearance and want a nice looking helmet, that you aren't worried about keeping for more than a year or 2, then it may be okay for you. Mine went back.
