Scorpion EXO-500 West Helmet

The Scorpion EXO-500  immediately catches the eye with its innovative design, enhanced by a superb sharp ridge on the underside of the shell. Inspired by its older brother, the Scorpion EXO-1000 , the EXO 500 Helmet is based on the GT philosophy and is fitted as standard with the last generation visor of its elder.  And as if that were not enough, it integrates the SpeedView built-in retractable sunvisor treated with anti-fog coating on both sides, two accessories usually reserved for high-end helmets.

Comprising 3 caps and a lighter and more durable shell than its predecessor, fitted with a very soft and comfortable inner lining thanks to the new KwikWick2 liner and triple density foam cheek pads, the Scorpion EXO 500 Helmets will drastically change your expectations from a full face helmet of the standard range. Equipped with the revolutionary Airfit® technology and a state-of-the-art ventilation system, chances are the new Scorpion will steal the show from the much more expensive helmets among those daily users who want to buy the best helmet for the best price.

Features:

  • Kwikwick2 Liner - moisture wicking, hypoallergenic, removable, machine washable, soft
  • SpeedView Retractable sunvisor - treated with antifog on both sides
  • Airfit technology - Inflate and deflate the cheek pads to make it fit perfectly- this provides a better fit thus better safety and shock absorption.
  • Speedshift visor system for extremely quick visor changes
  • EverClear no-fog visor: Optically-correct aero-tuned shield with state-of-the art fog-free technology and anti-scratch hardened coating.
  • Advanced Polycarbonate Composite Engineered Shell: Quiet, aero-tuned design for wind-tunnel tested comfort. EPS-lined chin bar for additional protection.
  • Triple density foam cheek pads
  • 3 Shell Sizes
  • 3 Year Warranty

Note: Helmet features gloss finish.

Great helmet for the money For the amount I paid this helmet had done me right. Could have paid 3x more for an Arai and had slightly less noise but why pay so much for that one quality. This helmet is great. had it about 6 montgs now and love it. Oh yeah the best feature is the antifog. Scorpion is the only make that I have experienced true no fog. May 11, 2015
Great value It looks a little large, and the cheekpads are a bit snug, but otherwise this has good features. Slight fogging issue, but everything fogs for me :) April 13, 2015
Wonderful helmet! The only issue I have experienced with this helmet is when in a tucked position the helmet seems to obstruct the top of my view more than most helmets. Other than that, helmet has met my standards! May 26, 2015
Fantastic first helmet This is my first helmet and a great one at that. I actually bought it a year before I got my bike due to some unforeseen circumstances, but I did manage to use it a bunch while go-karting that first year. Both as a karting helmet and a bike helmet, this thing is spectacular. It's the only bucket in the 200ish price range (when I bought it) that offers the perfect combination of perceived safety, good features, and great looks. The built-in sun shield is a godsend. Don't need sunglasses thanks to it, and at night just flip it back up. Visor detents feel nice and solid, though I usually just use full open, fully closed, and cracked. I don't do a lot of freeway riding yet so I can't speak to the ventilation - I don't notice a difference whether all the vents are open or closed, at least not at the speeds I ride (55mph or less). Visor fully open is plenty of air for me though. My only complaint is that the side of my jaw hurts a bit after riding for a while, though for the record I have a pretty wide jaw for my head shape. It never hurts during the ride itself, so I reckon I can live with it. TL;DR Feels safe, lots of features, good buy. May 26, 2015
Sun Visor failure This helmet was great. I liked the look and the fit was especially sound. That was until I tried out the rpm range on my motorcycle and had the visor deflect with the air pressure causing the mechanism holding the sunvisor in place to dislodge and fall from its held up position. The lever controlling the sunvisor then fell out. This issue is related to the "quick release" system which is an extreme pain to use and is not quick at all. Using a screw would be faster to tighten and remove. April 4, 2015
too much wind noise too much wind noise. otherwise it is a good helmet March 23, 2015
The best helmet I own I've tried to upgrade my exo 500 quite a few times, each time I tried the new helmet either didn't fit as nice, lack the features or is super noisy compared to the exo 500. Now I've reach the point that I just accept that there is no better helmet and is in the process of purchasing my 3rd exo 500. If you are like me and don't want to blow 600+ bucks on a shoei or arai helmet then this is the best bang for the buck for you. It's cheaper but doesn't feel cheap, it's still premium helmet, gets the job done. Make sure you go one size up, these helmets are super snug even after you go one size up. After you break em in they fit great like an old pair of leather boots. May 3, 2015
Great value, airflow OK The fit is a bit tight at first, but it does wear in like others say, in a short amount of time. The airflow is ok, it will get warm on a warm day; but I must admit, I am a "hot-head," I think baseball hats are warm if its above 60F... May 1, 2015

RevZilla: That would be most illogical . . . but totally awesome! Unfortunately the human race has not developed sophisticated space travel just yet, so our helmets don't make cool space sounds. If they ever do become a reality though, I will buy them all and you won't get any! Muhahaha!

But really, this thing doesn't make a peep. If you want sci-fi noises, you'll have to make them yourself. And if you ride around making PFSHHHHH noises in your helmet, no one will be calling you Captain Kirk anytime soon . . . unless you have a killer Shatner impression.
