A shopper asked:Hello, what is the different between "Schuberth SR-1 Pinlock-Ready Face Shield" and "Schuberth SR-1 Tear-Off Face Shield"? I have SR1 helmet and I want the blue mirror vizor + pinlock lens ' but I don't know what to choose. thanks.
Preston V:The tear of attaches to the outside of the face shield. It requires a special race ready face shield that has something similar to the pinlocks but on the outside of the shield. They are disposable. The pinlock shield fits on the inside of the helmet and creates an air barrier, like a double pane window, that prevents the visor from fogging up.
Be aware however, the pinlock shield has a slight yellow hue to it and isn't perfectly clear. If attached to the inside of a tinted visor it darkens the view. All Schuberth SR-1 helmets come with a clear pinlock ready faceshield and a pinlock insert. My SR-1 tends to fog up but I have the dark tint shield which I can not use the pinlock in because it already real dark, the pinlock would make it too dark to use in my case. But attached to the clear shield, the face shield will not fog up. It installs and removes in seconds with the shield off the helmet.Apr 13, 2014
DAVID W:The pinlock face shield has the posts on the inside of the lens so that you can mount the antifog lens that comes with the SR-1 helmet.
The tearoff lens has the posts on the outside of the so you can mount the racing tearoffs. These are thin sheets of plastic that you mount on the outside of the shield for a race. As the shield gets dirty during the course of a race, you can 'tear off' a sheet so that you maintain a clear screen.
Saucony Book S:Hi, Magnus: I'm no expert, but I purchased a face shield for my XL SR-1 a few months ago. Unless Schuberth is different than most other helmet manufacturers, the shields come in only one size and fit all helmets. I had another Schuberth helmet some years back and don't ever recall buying a specific sized shield for it; like the SR-1, it was "one size fits all," to the best of my knowledge. BrendanMay 20, 2014
Gustavo L:Based on the information that is on their website it's a one fit for all helmet sizes. I bought it for a 58 size helmet and fit without problem. I thinking the curvature is the one that get's modified based on the size and not by much.May 20, 2014
