Terry D:I doubt it - if you have size Large pads in there now (if they are different at all), I would expect the medium to be even tighter, since the L and M helmet shell is the same. And in case you're wondering, the XL cheek pads are exactly the same as the L's. (different shell size, same pads). I had issues with too much pressure on my cheekbones. I ordered the XL, realized they were no different, and returned them. Ultimately I had to do some minor surgery, carefully cutting open the pads, snipping some foam away, and whip stitching the outer fabric back together. Helmet went from almost unbearable to pretty comfortable.May 4, 2015
Terry D:I just went through this - my size L fit great everywhere except it was so tight on my cheek bones it was actually affecting my vision!
After enduring 6 months and 3000 miles of waiting for it to 'break in' with no luck,I ordered XL cheek pads hoping they might be thinner, but these helmets go up to a bigger shell size between L and XL, so the new pads were as thick as what I already had. Ultimately, I slit open the top of the cheek pad fabric enough to cut about 3/8" thickness off the foam in the troublesome area and whip stitched it back up. There's a little Frankenstein seam there now (adds character) but the helmet is much more comfortable.Feb 25, 2014
