The shield offers great protection and is very easy to install. If you have a pin lock it comes with a short instruction explaining the way to switch it from your old shield to the new.
A rock hit me on the shield passing a truck up in Canada, which fractured the lower part of the shield. No issues at all, didnt notice the crack until evening.

I just replaced my Schuberth faceshield and pinlock insert because the original one, which is approximately 1 year old, leaks. The pinlock insert does not fit tightly against the shield, and never did. Condensation forms along the bottom two inches of the insert unless you leave the visor cracked open. Also, night visiblity is really, really poor. Actually, if the NHTSA tested this pinlock faceshield at night while it is raining, they would give it the worst possible rating--deadly. With that said, there isn't a pinlock-free version of the C3 Schuberth faceshield, so I've bought another hoping that the original was just a one time manufacture defect. If it turns out to be as bad as the original, I'll toss the pinlock insert and leave my visor cracked to prevent fogging. What an awful helmet! Grrr, wish I could return it to Schuberth for a refund so I could by an Arai.
I'm surprised that so many people rate Schuberth products highly, because my experience has been the opposite. The optical quality of the facesheild with pinlock is poor during the day, and absolutely dangerous at night in the rain and cold. The Schuberth C3 helmet has a huge buckle system where most manufactures use a D-ring, and this buckle rubs against my neck until it is raw, no matter how I adjust it. Finally, the faceshield will not stay cracked open on the last set of indentations--the wind will always blow it shut. When I'm done wearing this helmet out, I'll buy an Arai or Shoei.
My advice to you is to stay clear of Schuberth.

Eventually, you'll need this...at least if you own the helmet and use it for a period of time. My helmet was (over)due. About 25,000 miles from when I got my C3 in 2009--nope, that's right--let's just say there's no DOT sticker on it! Fortunately the new lid shield went straight onto my EU spec helmet no sweat. It's fantastic being able to see when looking into the sun and not having thousands of little crazy zig-zaggy scratches show up! It really makes it like having a new helmet all over again. Now I gave this low marks on the Airflow scale and if you have a Schuberth you know why. Riding along, put the shield up for a little air, hit 30mph and WHAM! the thing slams down to the closed position. Bummer. Well, just get a couple of furniture sliders (felt kind) and stick them inside the black area on the side of the shield's hinge with the helmet. You can find the right size and they'll go in that little hole like they were made for it! Now you can leave your shield up with no WHAM'ing shut. Problem solved.

I really only purchased the shield from revzilla, but I'm reviewing the helmet (they sent a correctly sized shield quickly). The helmet is just an incredible piece of work. Much quieter than the Nolan n-103 I had, super light- weight, great ventilation. The only problem is the price may be prohibitively expensive, and I know some folks will not be able to get past this. Finest helmet I hve (or will probably ever) own.
