Sargent World Sport Performance Seat Suzuki V-Strom DL650 / DL1000

Continuing in the tradition of meticulously designed seating options, Sargent is pleased to offer the Sargent World Sport Performance Seat.

Utilizing advanced digital modeling, computer design techniques, precise manufacturing processes and superior materials, each World Sport seat pan is precision-molded for superior fit and outfitted with high-quality hardware. Also featuring Sargent’s signature vacuum-formed PVC acrylic alloy seat pan, this super tough, lightweight material provides an exceptional high-performance seat foundation.

Gel-Free! Each Sargent World Performance seat offers superior comfort and suspension without the thermal retention and extra weight of gel. The Super Cell Atomic Foam suspension is a unique and proprietary blend of resilience, firmness, and vibration-absorption qualities. Most stock seats suffer from a crowned shape that centralizes pressure and creates discomfort. The level, wider and slightly cupped foam shape of the Sargent World Sport Seat distributes pressure evenly and eliminates hot spots for incredible long-distance comfort.

All Sport Performance Seat features marine-grade, UV-stabilized, color-coordinated upholstery - hand sewn specifically to maximize the qualities of the Super Cell Atomic Foam.

Features:

  • Widened PVC seat pan for more lateral support
  • CarbonFX vinyl
  • Super Cell Atomic Foam for improved riding comfort
  • Handy, under-the-seat storage
  • Eliminates forward slope and provides a more neutral seating angle for the driver

Not Comfortable
I researched this seat and a Corbin seat. I had always been a Corbin fan but the reviews were so good on this seat that I decided for once to go outside the box and try something different-Mistake!!! Obviously most of the reviewers must have never had a Corbin or any other seat because this was the most uncomfortable seat I have ever tried. I had to stop every 50 or so miles to get feeling back in my butt and wipe the tears from my eyes from the pain. My stock seat is a better choice than this one. I was totally disappointed but now I am a proud owner of a very comfortable Corbin seat also. Anyone want to by a barely used Sargent seat?

better than stock
I have not had the seat long enough to know if it is durable but it appears to be.

The stock seat was less comfortable than the Sargent but not by a large margin.

So, I believe it was priced accordingly to all of the factors and overall it was a good purchase.

What an amazing difference!
A year prior to buying this seat I road from Tucson to Ouray, Co and ended up putting about 1,000 miles on my stock seat in 2 days. Within the first 150 miles I found myself shifting my position constantly for the remaining 850 miles never finding a comfortable sitting position and truly felt like my vstrom wasn't the long range bike I thought it would be. Not giving up on it I pursued a new seat and read several reviews. My criteria:

Long range comfort
Single rider position
Addition support over more surface area
Style
Price to performance ratio
Not willing to send my stock seat out for custom rebuilding

It did not take many miles on my last trip back to Ouray through Moab and Canyonlands to understand how critical seat comfort was to enjoying the ride. This seat was so a,amazingly comfortable I rode extensive hours (up to 10/leg) without needing to rest.

I am 6' @ 180 lbs which might be a sweet spot for this seat as it fit me like my favorite pair of perfectly comfortable jeans that I have worn for years. They truly made you feel like you were floating on air.

I would highly recommend this seat over stock. I can't compare to other manufacturers as I didn't try them but this was a trip saver for me! It might have even saved my bike from being replaced.

BTW- I cannot rate durability as it is only 1 month new. I am sure it will be very durable over many many miles.

Thank you Sargent! I now love my Vstrom.

Better than Stock!
I ride an 09 DL650 VStrom and I'm 5'11 177 Lbs and needed something to ease the pain of the stock seat. I used a "sheep" type product but it did not help. This seat is way more comfortable even in jeans; I believe riding pants would be even more comfortable (I have Rev'it Pants). It does raise you up and even an inch will cause you to adjust your riding ergonomics. I already have the 1" up and back risers but seem to search more for a comfortable position. I probably just need to get use to the new seat. I've had the seat about a month and around 1K miles, mainly back and forth to work and day rides less than 200 miles and it is very comfortable. It's not like night and day better than stock to me, as I've had to adjust my seating position to get comfortable, but it is so easy to change your position with this seat. I do find myself sitting closer to the tank verses all the way back on the seat; and there is room to move around easily! No change to flat-footing the bike at stops. Shipping was a little slow but hey it was free! I would recommend this seat for sure over stock. The storage tube underneath the seat is a wonderful addition for keeping papers and stuff.

Better than stock but not great
I never used the stock seat on my Wee for long because it sucked. The Suzuki gel is quite good and gave an extra inch of legroom. Then I tried the Sargent. The Sargent sat too low for me, causing minor knee cramp in 100 miles that I never had in 26,000 on the higher gel seat. On the Sargent my butt was mildly sore at the 100 mile mark, no better than the gel seat. However Sargent made my groin area sore too, a new problem. For these reasons I cannot recommend this product, nor can I rate it better than fair. Seats are subjective and there are many rider variables. I am 6'1" with 33.5" inseam and the Sargent is probably better for average height or slIghtly shorter riders. The Sargent is super light, fit is good, the storage tube is neat, and it looks awesome. But for me I sold it after a 300 mile trial because my Suzuki gel seat is better. The gel gets hot but an Alaska sheepskin works to cool it off. By the way the Alaska sheepskin on the Sargent still ached my groin and legroom was still worse than gel seat. For reference I had a Sargent on my 2004 VFR800 and it was good, not great. I've had two Corbin's on past bikes and they are good too, but heavy and not great either. Yes I am picky but experienced too. The "great" seat is the Russell Day Long despite it's looks. Nothing else is pain free.

Sargent has this old Sergeant riding longer
After long days in the saddle on the original DL1000 seat I would have shooting pain in my back. I modified the seat and it bought me a little more time in the seat. I wanted more, as in all day. I haven't taken an all day ride on the seat yet but the few two hour rides I've taken in the twisties have me thinking it's not going to be a problem. On the old seat, after about a half hour I'm standing to relieve pressure. Now, I don't even think about it and when I get home, all I can think about is how much fun the ride was, not about the sore spots and tingling nerves in my legs. Love it so far. Taking a ride to Reno this weekend, we'll see how it goes.

Huge upgrade from stock
I'm 5'8", 140lbs, 31.5" inseam, and was unimpressed with the stock seat on the DL1000 after an hour or so. This seat made a huge difference. It's way more comfortable, perhaps a tad shorter when putting my feet down, and wider in the back.

Second Sargent seat I've bought and this one is great too.
I got this seat for a Suzuki Vstrom 650.
Took a long trip with the OEM seat and it was not good.
Just took a trip with the new Sargent seat and it made all the difference.
It was money well spent.

Stock seat is killing my butt.

I needed a more comfortable seat without creating more distance to the ground, as I am inseam challenged, and the DL650 stock seat is as high as I am comfortable with already. The front of this seat narrows and gives me a factory reach to the ground, while the rider pocket is considerable wider and less sloped that stock. I find this seat very comfortable for 2-3 hours between breaks, and have just completed a 3000 mile trip over nine days with no complaints. Very happy, highly recommended!

I'm 5'8'' and i would like more than just the tips of my toes touching the ground. Will this seat help lower me to the ground?
A shopper on Jun 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'm 5'9" and have a long torso so I feel you. The seat does help by about an inch. I find the seat much more conformable than my previous one, especially if I scoot back into the seat a little. I also tend to wear thick boots to ride in to give me some extra height. I just can't quite sit my feet flat in sneakers. There are some links you can change to lower the rear, and you can reduce the tension in the back of the bike if you don't carry passengers or heavy luggage. Good luck!
